Chapter 52: Altering the Past (Part 6)
Lin Yue's face turned pale in an instant, cold sweat seeping from his forehead. He stared at Lin Fan in terror, realizing he had fallen into an inescapable predicament.
"I… I…"
He stammered, his throat seemingly blocked by something, unable to speak for a moment.
Lin Fan leaned forward slightly, pressing him step by step, a cold smile appearing on his face:
"Not talking? Now that you've fallen into my hands, do you think your secrets can still be kept? Who is behind you?"
Lin Fan's Void Power pressed down, causing Lin Yue's palm to deform continuously, making him grimace in pain.
"I'll talk, I'll talk! It's the password in your computer—someone offered a high price for it."
A series of images flashed through Lin Fan's mind instantly, as if piecing the entire incident together into a complete picture.
The Repair Master at Nanxing Digital Repair, three hours? He suddenly realized that the timing for all of this was precise.
His vehicle being stolen and used to intentionally hit someone—the entire process of the event perfectly filled a three-hour time gap.
And Lin Fan remembered, the moment he stepped into the repair shop, "Welcome! Sir, it's so late, and you drove here yourself; you've really worked hard."
The Repair Master knew from the very beginning that he had driven there.
In that instant, Lin Fan understood. Everything had been meticulously planned.
All Lin Yue had done was to buy enough time for that Repair Master to obtain the password.
The car accident, the intentional collision, the car repair—everything was to buy time for that password.
Anger surged in Lin Fan's heart, and his mind flashed back to when he gave the Repair Master two million, the way the man had been so moved he was almost in tears.
That Repair Master's performance was so exquisite that he hadn't noticed anything unusual. Only now did Lin Fan realize that he had actually been deceived by this Repair Master, completely played for a fool.
"Damn! I was actually deceived by that Repair Master."
Lin Fan's gaze was sharp as a knife, staring straight at Lin Yue, his voice calm yet filled with threat:
"Where is the password? You should understand the consequences of hiding things from me."
Lin Yue's body trembled slightly; he had been pushed into a corner with nowhere to retreat.
He stammered, his voice carrying a tremor: "I… I don't know the specific content of the password. That password in your computer involves a very deep secret… I was only responsible for luring you into this trap, entangling you, or even finishing you off. I don't know anything else."
He looked at Lin Fan, his eyes filled with fear and unwillingness, "Really, the matter of the password was arranged by them. I had absolutely no qualification to know."
"Then who is the person behind this? Who told you to do this?"
Lin Yue's eyes flickered, and he lowered his head almost instinctively, "I… I am just a tool, I have no choice. I dare not say that person's name. Please, don't force me."
Lin Fan's gaze turned even colder instantly. He reached out, his Void Power violently condensing, and with a light flick of his finger,
Lin Yue's fingers were controlled by an invisible force, emitting a series of harsh cracking sounds. Then, every finger was twisted and broken, and blood instantly gushed out, staining the tabletop red.
Lin Yue was in so much pain he almost fainted, his face a mix of pain and fear, yet he still clenched his teeth tightly, not making a single sound.
Blood flowed ceaselessly from his broken fingertips, but he kept his lips tightly sealed, a look of determination showing in his eyes.
"Lin Fan… I… am your brother." Lin Yue's voice trembled, carrying an unmistakable indignation and exhaustion, "If you want to kill me, then do it. I am not afraid of death."
Lin Fan's eyes froze. Hearing these sudden words, his mind went blank: "Brother? You say you are my brother?" He felt a wave of shock sweep over him, his heart unable to calm down for a long time.
In his memories, Lin Fan did indeed have a brother, but the memories regarding his brother were blurry and unclear, as if someone had deliberately erased them.
The whole situation suddenly became complicated.
Lin Yue's face grew paler, a flash of pain in his eyes, but he still didn't reveal any more details.
"I… I told you, I have no choice. I only know the mission. You shouldn't ask me so much. Anyway, I just have no choice. Lin Fan, if you want to kill me, do it. There's no turning back anyway."
Just then, Carl coldly interjected from the side, interrupting Lin Fan's thoughts: "Don't listen to his nonsense. I don't believe any brother would try to kill his younger brother. Let me handle him."
"Wait a moment. In the past, I indeed would have had no way. But now, it's different."
Lin Fan flicked his fingers slightly, and the Void Power surged gently. The surrounding air seemed to become stagnant, and the powerful aura made every vibration in the air appear exceptionally heavy.
Lin Fan now possessed the memories of a hundred lifetimes, and the Soul-searching techniques were as numerous as hair on an ox. Obtaining a person's secrets was too simple.
He closed his eyes slightly, the spiritual energy within him flowing quietly, and the Void Power was controlled by his hand. In an instant, several seals were struck into Lin Yue's Sea of Consciousness.
Lin Yue immediately felt a powerful pressure. His eyes widened instantly, his face turned pale, and he trembled all over, as if something was starting to tear from the depths of his Soul.
"Stop! You can't do this!" Lin Yue's voice became anxious, terror showing in his eyes, "You will destroy my brain this way! I'll tell you whatever you want, but you can't use this method! You will… you will regret it!"
Lin Fan ignored him and continued to exert his Soul power. In his eyes, Lin Yue's fear and struggle were completely insignificant.
Lin Yue's face twisted instantly, clearly in extreme pain.
His body began to tremble violently, but this power seemed impossible to resist.
His thoughts and memories were being deeply excavated, as if every segment of memory was being exposed before Lin Fan.
A lonely island, the sea surface choppy and turbulent, the sky dotted with countless twinkling stars.
On the edge of the island was a simple shack, the air filled with the scent of seawater and salt.
The figures in the image gradually became clear. Standing by the seaside was a man wearing a clean, white research uniform. His appearance was cold and solemn, his eyes revealing a trace of imperceptible pain.
Beside him was a little boy, only about five or six years old, his innocent eyes full of confusion and bewilderment.
"Father, why do you want to send Lin Fan away? He is still so small. Wouldn't it be better if our family stayed together?"
The little boy looked up, his voice crisp, carrying confusion and pleading.
The man was silent for a moment, his gaze turning to the distant sea, his eyes seemingly hiding endless sorrow and helplessness.
"It is enough for us to be here. The places we cannot go, the things we cannot obtain, the enslaved life—let us bear it. I hope your younger brother can go live his own life, to enjoy a free life."
The little boy widened his eyes, seemingly not yet understanding the deep meaning in his father's words, "Okay." He finally responded, though he didn't understand what his father meant.
That man typed control commands into an old laptop, inserted it into the life-support pod, and the pod door slowly closed.
Then, the man gently pushed the life-support pod. Amidst the mechanical humming, the pod carried Lin Fan drifting across the sea, disappearing into the night.
"Father…" The old laptop in Lin Yue's memory was exactly the dilapidated computer that Lin Fan had brought for repair.
