Chapter 57: Medicine Peak
Space transformed rapidly. Amidst the shifting light, a ray of sunlight shone before Junior Brother Bai Ming.
He opened his eyes hazily, discovering that the surroundings were no longer the chaotic spatial turbulence.
Lush green trees and the rich scent of medicinal herbs.
"I have succeeded." Junior Brother Bai Ming's face showed joy, but his heavy eyelids could no longer support themselves.
With his worries set aside, he fell into a deep sleep, his consciousness sinking into the lake of his heart.
A long time passed, approaching the afternoon.
A beautiful young girl wearing hemp clothing walked and stopped, occasionally bending down or running quickly, as if searching for something.
Gradually, a trace of sorrow appeared on her pretty face. With the sky darkening, if she didn't find it soon, she would have to return.
The girl paused for a few steps, picked a few medicinal herbs, and sighed, "It is truly hard to find. Does this Cloud Dream Immortal Ginseng really exist? I have been searching for so many days, and I haven't even seen a shadow of it."
The continuous futility made her mood drop, but something in the distance caught her attention.
The girl squinted, trying to see the black shadow in the distance clearly.
After squinting for a while, she vaguely made out a human figure and exclaimed, "That couldn't be a person, could it!"
Putting away the medicine basket on her back, she jogged over and arrived in front of the black shadow.
The young man's breath was as thin as gossamer, his whole body was covered in wounds, and there were even two bloody holes in his knees.
The girl's eyes widened, "What on earth is going on? Why would a seriously injured, unconscious person appear on Medicine Peak?"
Because Medicine Peak grew many spiritual herbs and plants, it produced a certain effect—the isolation of spiritual sense.
Coupled with the dense spiritual energy, there were also many spirit beasts that had emerged from consuming spiritual plants.
However, although they were called spirit beasts, they didn't possess much intelligence and were no different from bloodthirsty wild beasts.
How could a person with crippled knees, seriously injured and unconscious, find this isolated Medicine Peak, and how could he avoid the spirit beasts and arrive here while his spiritual sense was severed?
There were many suspicious points about the young man. The girl was thoughtful for a moment, but she still decided to save him.
A smile played on her lips, "You are quite lucky to not have been eaten by spirit beasts after so long."
The girl put the medicinal herbs into her storage bag and used spiritual power to hoist the young man onto the basket on her back.
But just as she turned around, a pink branch and leaf emerged, with palmate compound leaves whorled at the top of the stem, looking like a small, opened pink umbrella.
[Cloud Dream Immortal Ginseng]
The girl's slightly open mouth slowly closed, "It seems I am also very lucky."
She plucked the spirit ginseng, carried the young man on her back, and said, "Mission accomplished, time to pack up and go home."
…
In a pitch-black space.
Junior Brother Bai Ming slowly stood up and discovered a woman in green robes before him.
Song Wanqing's eyes were filled with tenderness, and her eyes held tears, "My dear Bai, are you really going to leave me? Are all those times we spent together fake?"
Junior Brother Bai Ming lowered his head, a tightness in his chest, "I… I don't know how to face you."
The corners of Song Wanqing's mouth curled into an eerie arc, "Then stay."
After much hesitation, Junior Brother Bai Ming slowly breathed out, "Alright."
Footsteps echoed in the pitch-black space.
Song Wanqing came before Junior Brother Bai Ming and placed a collar around his neck.
She wrapped her arms around Junior Brother Bai Ming's neck and whispered in his ear, "Stay as my pet."
The whisper shattered Junior Brother Bai Ming's last shred of reason, and two tears streaked down his cheeks.
His eyes were teary, his mouth twitching, "Why, why must it be like this!"
A palpitation-like pain arose, and his heart beat faster and faster.
Junior Brother Bai Ming's consciousness floated out of the lake of his heart, and he gradually began to feel the rise and fall of his chest and his own breathing.
He slowly opened his eyes, the wooden ceiling coming into view, and he realized that what had just happened was merely a dream.
Seeing the young man wake up, the girl in hemp clothing said with some pleasant surprise, "You have finally woken up."
Hearing the girl's voice, Junior Brother Bai Ming turned his head to look and only then discovered there was someone else in the room, a beautiful young girl.
The girl in hemp clothing stopped him from getting up and meticulously wrapped bandages for him, "You are seriously injured; you had better not get up."
Upon the girl's reminder, Junior Brother Bai Ming finally discovered that his body was wrapped in cloth bandages, and his whole body was still throbbing with pain.
"Tha…nk… you…" Junior Brother Bai Ming wanted to thank her, but his throat felt like it contained a razor blade, hurting so much he wanted to cough up blood, and his voice became muffled and hoarse.
Seeing the young man's tenacious appearance, the girl in hemp clothing chuckled and shook her head. She picked up a towel and gently wiped the tear stains from Junior Brother Bai Ming's face.
She said softly, "I know you have many questions right now, and I am the same; I also have many questions I want to ask you."
"But since you are injured like this, I won't make things difficult for you."
Junior Brother Bai Ming nodded silently; he was indeed very confused right now.
Where was this, and who was she?
And how was he discovered?
The girl in hemp clothing seemed to see Junior Brother Bai Ming's confusion, "Let me explain your doubts first."
"Senior Sister Tao Yu, that is my name."
"This is Medicine Peak. I don't know if you have heard of it, but in short, it is a relatively remote place."
The girl in hemp clothing blinked, "As for you, I found you by accident while picking herbs. I must say, you are quite lucky."
"If you hadn't been found by nightfall, you would have met your end." Senior Sister Tao Yu's tone changed, and she smiled, "But thanks to you, I found the Cloud Dream Immortal Ginseng."
Medicine Peak, Cloud Dream Immortal Ginseng.
These were all things he had never heard of.
However, he could count himself as saved.
As Junior Brother Bai Ming was pondering, the girl suddenly handed over a bottle and signaled for him to open his mouth.
After drinking the medicinal liquid in the bottle, a gentle warmth spread throughout his whole body.
Senior Sister Tao Yu put away the bottle, "You feel better now, right? Can you tell me your name?"
Feeling the nourishment of the medicinal liquid on his body, Junior Brother Bai Ming nodded, "Junior Brother Bai Ming."
Creak—the wooden door panel made a friction sound, and a young man in white robes pushed the door and entered.
His snow-white clothes were adorned with some gold threads. The young man in white robes had a handsome face, and his eyes faintly shimmered with starlight, appearing somewhat extraordinary.
Senior Sister Tao Yu smiled, "Senior Brother Wei Yu, you are here."
The young man in white robes nodded and came to the bedside, his eyes revealing gentleness, "How is he?"
Senior Sister Tao Yu stepped aside slightly to make room for the young man in white robes, "He is much better, but it will still be some time before he fully recovers, especially the wounds on his knees, which may take longer."
Seeing the young man in white robes looking at him, Junior Brother Bai Ming spoke, "With Senior Sister Tao Yu's treatment, I feel much better."
The young man in white robes smiled and nodded, "It seems Junior Sister Tao Yu has done well."
He extended his right hand, releasing gentle spiritual power, which enveloped Junior Brother Bai Ming's entire body.
Senior Sister Tao Yu explained, "Senior Brother Wei Yu is using spiritual power to heal your wounds; try not to move around."
"Thank you." Junior Brother Bai Ming felt a warmth in his heart.
As the healing progressed, a frown appeared on the young man in white robes' gentle face, his sword-like eyebrows furrowed, "With such wounds, the spiritual meridians are all ruined. It is truly hard to imagine what happened to Fellow Daoist Bai."
Junior Brother Bai Ming was silent, his expression fading.
"But do not worry. With me, Senior Brother Wei Yu, here, Fellow Daoist can rest assured and heal here." The young man in white robes had bright eyes, and there was a sense of composure between his brows.
