Chapter 573: A Little Torment for Affection 12

Nangong totally didn't expect that by pretending to be sick, he'd end up with a proper medical term.

Thus, he could only continue to act weak: "So I have heart disease…" What on earth is that?

Su Luo nodded solemnly: "Indeed. There are no proper doctors here, and I don't know how to perform bypass surgery. What should we do?"

Nangong Liuyun blinked obediently, then blinked again… He, the dignified His Highness Prince Jin, was immensely learned, knowing astronomy above and geography below, yet now he actually couldn't follow the conversation at all… Su Luo muttered to herself in distress again: "Isn't this a world of magic? Do ordinary diseases like heart disease still exist here? This isn't scientific."

Nangong Liuyun: "…" What exactly was his little princess consort saying?

He found that he recognized every single word individually, but when combined, he had no idea what they meant… Nangong Liuyun felt so inferior he was about to cry.

After Su Luo finished her muttering, the steward finally arrived with the Imperial Physician.

This Imperial Physician Li fit Su Luo's image of a court physician perfectly.

With white hair and eyebrows, and a benevolent face, he looked both amiable and highly skilled in medicine.

Imperial Physician Li finished checking Nangong's pulse, stroked his white beard, and remained silent for a long while, lost in thought.

Su Luo grew anxious, staring tensely and apprehensively at this highly skilled court physician.

Imperial Physician Li closed his eyes and pondered for a long time before letting out a deep sigh.

Su Luo's heart was already full of apprehension, and that sigh made her heart leap into her throat.

"Doctor Li, what is wrong with His Highness Prince Jin? Is it serious?" Su Luo pointed at Nangong Liuyun, who was lying on the bed with a pale face and breath as thin as silk.

Imperial Physician Li's lips twitched slightly.

However, because his white beard was so thick and long, it hid his slip-up well.

"His Highness Prince Jin's illness…" Imperial Physician Li glanced at Nangong Liuyun enigmatically, then looked away and gazed up at the sky: "It's difficult, truly difficult…"

Su Luo's heart grew even more tense.

Could it be that her jinxed mouth had predicted it correctly, and it really was heart disease? Perhaps even the Innate kind?

Under Su Luo's anxious gaze, Imperial Physician Li finally explained slowly: "His Highness Prince Jin's illness is very strange and rare. He must not get angry, much less fly into a rage. He must maintain a good mood; whatever he wants, he must be given."

Imperial Physician Li peeked at Nangong Liuyun out of the corner of his eye, and the latter nodded with satisfaction.

"Huh?" Su Luo frowned.

Imperial Physician Li stroked his white beard again, feigning profundity: "Right now is when the illness is at its most severe. He cannot be left alone. Otherwise, if the illness flares up when no one is around to care for him, the consequences will be unimaginable…"

Imperial Physician Li gazed at the sky while continuing to peek at Nangong Liuyun out of the corner of his eye.

The incredibly weak Nangong Liuyun leaned against the mattress. A hand with distinct knuckles reached out from under the quilt and, at an angle Su Luo couldn't see, gave Imperial Physician Li a thumbs-up, indicating he would be heavily rewarded.

Consequently, the look of sorrow on Imperial Physician Li's face became even more profound. He earnestly exhorted Su Luo: "Remember, whatever requirements His Highness has, try your best to satisfy them—no, you MUST satisfy them. Otherwise, if His Highness is provoked and the illness flares up again, the consequences… alas, even if a Great Golden Immortal descended to earth, it would be beyond cure."

Su Luo wasn't originally that easy to fool; she had been quite shrewd in her past life, after all.

But the mistake lay in the fact that Su Luo had framed her own thinking from the start, deciding that Nangong Liuyun had heart disease.

Imperial Physician Li's words could be translated as: avoid irritability, keep a peaceful state of mind, and do not be provoked… The more she heard, the more appropriate and consistent it seemed. There was no need to doubt it at all.
