Chapter 587: The Secret of Her Origins 2

Su Luo vaguely felt that her origins held a massive secret, and this secret would overturn everything she had previously known.

"I will tell you once you have breakfast with me." Nangong Liuyun said, looking smug.

Though Su Luo felt anxious inside, she kept a smile on her face. "Very well." Nangong Liuyun loved using this trick, and Su Luo was already used to it.

Having breakfast was fine anyway; she was hungry.

Nangong Liuyun took Su Luo's hand, and the two walked slowly, enjoying the scenery along the way as they made their way to the dining hall.

The breakfast was extremely lavish.

Although there were only the two of them, the dishes and refreshments covered the round table completely, making one's mouth water just looking at them.

Su Luo didn't wait for Nangong Liuyun's invitation and began eating on her own.

Seeing this, Nangong Liuyun shook his head and gave a wry smile.

This girl might seem calm on the surface, but she was likely harboring some resentment toward him.

Just as he was smiling wryly, suddenly, a crab roe steamed bun was placed into his bowl.

Su Luo looked at him with a smile. "Why are you looking at me? Eat." Once he finished, he could tell her about her origins; she was waiting.

"My Girl Luo is a feast for the eyes, far more delicious than these." Nangong Liuyun smugly picked up the crab roe steamed bun and ate it in a refined and elegant manner.

Su Luo glared at him. "Are you full yet?"

"In such a rush?" Nangong Liuyun raised an eyebrow and smiled.

"Yes, in such a rush." Su Luo glared at him. When it concerned her origins, who wouldn't be anxious?

Su Luo kept staring at him while he ate. "Now you should be finished, right?"

After Nangong Liuyun finished enjoying the crab roe steamed bun, he slowly set down his chopsticks.

"Fine, since that's the case, I will tell you." Nangong Liuyun dotingly tapped the tip of her nose. "But after you know the truth, you mustn't cry."

"Do you really take me for a three-year-old? Crying? Do you have to think of me as so childish?" Su Luo pushed him. "Alright, I'm mentally prepared. Hurry up and tell me."

"Ahem." Nangong Liuyun cleared his throat to show the seriousness of the matter. "Your origins are actually quite complicated; even now, I haven't fully investigated everything."

"Then tell me everything you know. Perhaps I can provide some inspiration." Su Luo stared fixedly at him.

"This begins fifteen years ago." Nangong Liuyun pulled Su Luo close and slowly began to recount what he had discovered.

It was a very cliché and dramatic story.

Back then, that concubine, Madam Yang, whom Su Zian doted on greatly, gave birth to a baby girl. Because of a difficult labor, Madam Yang fainted on the spot, and the baby stopped breathing shortly after birth.

On that day, there were strange celestial phenomena; clouds filled the sky with a rosy glow, rainbows paved the path, and a divine bird circled the entire Imperial Capital.

At such an auspicious moment, if news of a baby dying in Big Brother Su Da's General Residence had spread, it would have been extremely ominous. For Madam Yang, it could have been a catastrophe.

Madam Yang's wet nurse was terribly anxious, but it so happened that she found the baby girl Su Luo at the gate of their courtyard. This was a heaven-sent opportunity.

In order to prevent Madam Yang from falling out of favor, the wet nurse dressed the baby girl in a bellyband hand-embroidered by Madam Yang, placed her in a bright red swaddle, and sent her back to Madam Yang, then swapped out the deceased infant.

Madam Yang was groggy and had no idea that her own daughter had died, and the baby girl lying beside her was not her own.

Seeing Madam Yang's deep affection for the little girl, the wet nurse really didn't dare to speak the truth.

She could only let the mistake continue, and so it went on.
