Chapter 618: Nangong Goes Berserk 2
The Emperor looked at the two brothers, let out a helpless sigh, and slumped back into his chair.
For a moment, a silence fell over the Imperial Study.
Meanwhile, inside the Side Hall, the Empress stared fixedly at Su Luo, as if wishing she could bore a hole through her face.
She never expected this Stinky Girl would actually shout it out loud; wouldn't this let everyone know that she, the dignified Empress, was using her power to bully others?
The Empress took a deep breath and glared coldly at Su Luo. "Su Luo! You have a lot of nerve!"
Su Luo looked up with a pair of confused and innocent eyes. "Did I do something wrong?"
The Empress was already angry, and seeing Su Luo feign innocence like this made her even more furious.
"Shut up!" the Empress hissed in a low, angry voice.
"Oh." Su Luo obediently shut her mouth and lowered her gaze once more.
"So it seems you are unwilling?" The Empress calmed down. She wasn't a fool; she understood after a moment's thought.
"This subject doesn't understand your Majesty's meaning," Su Luo replied ambiguously.
The Empress suddenly let out a cold laugh and stared at Su Luo with an inscrutable, eerie gaze.
But Su Luo remained calm and composed, allowing the Empress to stare as she pleased. In the end, she even flashed her a grin.
The Empress felt a pang of frustration in her chest.
This kind of psychological tactic, which she, in her high position, had always used with success, had failed against this Stinky Girl.
The Empress sneered, "Su Luo, you certainly are confident. Let this Palace guess where exactly your confidence comes from."
"I am all ears." Su Luo was slightly dissatisfied that the Empress had lured her here with words but had yet to get to the point.
Based on the Empress's earlier behavior, she had thought she might finally learn the truth about her background.
"It's Nangong Liuyun, isn't it? You think that by currying favor with him, everything will be fine, don't you?" The Empress leisurely toyed with the White Jade Ring on her thumb, a mysterious smile curling her lips.
Su Luo remained silent. She had always known that mountains can crumble and people can leave; the most reliable person was oneself. Thus, no matter how well Nangong Liuyun treated her, she never abandoned her pursuit of the Peak of the Martial Dao.
Seeing her silence, the Empress assumed she had admitted it. Her heart filled with excitement, but she let out a cold snort. "Even if Nangong Liuyun treats you well, in the end, you'll be nothing more than a lowly concubine!"
Was the Empress trying to sow discord? Su Luo found it amusing but played along, putting on a confused expression.
The Empress was satisfied with Su Luo's reaction. She gave her an inscrutable glance. "Have you ever heard of the Yaochi Li Family?"
Yaochi Fairy? The name was right on the tip of her tongue. Su Luo frowned slightly and looked at the Empress.
As expected, the Empress gave a sinister smile. "You might not know the name Li Yaoyao, but surely you know of the Yaochi Fairy?"
"I know of her." Su Luo nodded.
Not only did she know her, she had also clashed with her several times in secret.
The Empress looked at her nonchalantly and gave a cold laugh. "Then, do you know that Li Yaoyao and Nangong Liuyun have an Engagement?"
An Engagement? Su Luo's eyes narrowed slightly, a hint of bitterness surfacing in her heart.
Su Luo fixed her beautiful eyes on the Empress, her voice steady and calm. "Why must your Majesty try to sow discord? If Nangong Liuyun had an Engagement, wouldn't he know it himself?"
To her surprise, the Empress sneered. "Marriage has always been decided by parents; why would he need to know? Even if he did, do you think he would tell you?"
Just as Su Luo frowned, the Empress added, "Of course, this matter hasn't been made public yet, so there's still time to stop it."
Su Luo looked at the Empress.
