Chapter 628: Purple Mist Mosquito Beasts

A gentle breeze blew, subtly swaying the green grass on the ground, and the clothes of the man and woman also fluttered with the wind.

The man gazed at the ground, a hint of admiration in his eyes, and chuckled, "The technique of this Restriction incorporates ancient forbidden arts… Oh, and there's a trace of an Immortal Restriction too, quite impressive!"

The woman beside him tucked a strand of dark hair that had been blown by the wind behind her ear, her eyes fixed on the ground, and she nodded, softly saying, "The ancient forbidden art technique is skillful, but this Restriction with an Immortal Restriction flavor is a bit crude. It must have been explored only recently."

The man nodded in agreement and said, "This must have been set up by a Cultivator with an ancient Cultivator's Legacy. His technique is so proficient, he must have cultivated for at least ten thousand years."

The woman chuckled and shook her head, gently saying, "That's not necessarily true. You haven't personally seen the person who set up this Restriction."

The man laughed heartily and said, "Juan'er, are you perhaps testing your husband? How about we make a bet? If the Cultivator who set up this Restriction hasn't cultivated for ten thousand years, then I lose. What do you say?"

The woman covered her mouth and chuckled, her eyes filled with tenderness as she looked at the man, and she smiled, "How can a small Restriction make Cloud Immortal Wang Wei, who usually claims to be able to break all Restrictions, care so much?"

The man smiled and shook his head, saying, "You're avoiding the main point again. I don't believe you can't see that although this Restriction is crude, the thought within it is extremely ingenious. Look at this Restriction; if it weren't for us, anyone else would likely overlook it if they weren't careful.

This Restriction has no killing intent, naturally, and thus no murderous aura, but it does contain a Divine Sense-triggering mechanism. As long as one steps inside, the person who set up this Restriction can immediately detect them.

This isn't the main point yet. If it were only that, it wouldn't interest me. Look here!" The man pointed to the grass ahead. As the wind blew, the green grass swayed with it, appearing completely normal.

The man's eyes gleamed with a strange light, and he said, "If I'm not mistaken, there isn't just one Restriction here! They are linked in a series. Even if this Restriction is broken, if they cannot all be broken simultaneously, the setter can still know." As he spoke, he grabbed with his right hand, and all the green grass in his line of sight was pressed down, except for a single blade that swayed in the wind.

"Setting up Restrictions out of thin air is an inferior technique. Setting up Restrictions by borrowing objects is merely a mediocre technique. But look at this green grass, Juan'er, look closely, is there anything different about this grass?"

The woman was quite surprised. She knew Wang Wei too well; although his temperament was easygoing, whenever he encountered anything related to Restrictions, he immediately seemed like a different person. But precisely because of this, ordinary Restrictions simply couldn't catch his eye. For him to show such a strange gleam in his eyes was even rarer.

The woman focused her gaze, then her eyes widened in surprise, and she said, "This green grass is real yet fake!"

A smile appeared in Wang Wei's eyes. He flicked his right hand in the Void Realm, and the green grass immediately broke off at the root and fell into his hand. He nodded, "That's right, real yet fake. This grass is real, but its sap is fake!"

As he spoke, he rubbed the green grass between two fingers of his right hand, and a white mist immediately rose from it. As the white mist swirled, the sap within it instantly seeped out.

As the sap diffused, the green grass was no longer emerald green but slowly withered and yellowed. Finally, a drop of crystal-clear green liquid floated on the man's palm.

This drop of green liquid was crystal clear, and within it, countless Restrictions flashed by, densely packed almost to infinity.

The man's eyes once again showed admiration. He looked at the sap in his palm and softly said, "This contains over a thousand Restrictions. These Restrictions are perfectly combined with each other to form this single drop of sap. Its structure is extremely stable. Although the Restrictions within are common, the more common something is, the harder it is to achieve this. Only Cultivators who have cultivated for over ten thousand years, who have experienced the myriad forms of life, lived through life and death, and comprehended their own Dao Concept, can possess such cunning and such deductive abilities!

How can a person in this world experience the myriad forms of life without ten thousand years? How can one thoroughly see through life and death? How can one forge a heart with seven exquisite apertures?

Restrictions have little to do with talent; what truly matters are one's mindset and cunning!" Wang Wei's eyes showed emotion and a trace of reminiscence.

The woman's eyes held tenderness. Standing beside the man, she softly said, "Don't think so much. Didn't you want to bet with me just now? I'll bet that the person who set up this Restriction hasn't cultivated for ten thousand years."

The man laughed heartily, his reminiscent gaze fading. He looked deeply at the woman and smiled, "Good! We'll just wait here and see what the outcome is! And we'll wait for that Greedy Wolf to appear!"

The woman smiled, "If that Greedy Wolf comes out and sees us, I wonder how he'll react. Will he resist, or will he obediently hand over the Token?"

"He wouldn't dare to resist!" the man chuckled, his tone light and calm, without a hint of anger.

The moment Greedy Wolf entered the Demon Spirit Land, his whereabouts were already detected by this Cloud Immortal Dao Companion pair. After all, they had been in this Demon Spirit Land for tens of thousands of years, thoroughly researching a Void Mansion and obtaining countless treasures.

Wang Wei, in addition to Restrictions, was also skilled in divination. Although he couldn't compare to Tian Yunzi in this aspect, he could still calculate Greedy Wolf's location and some changes.

As for the Token, they had naturally calculated it as well, but this Token was too peculiar. To obtain it, one had to do so within a specific time, which is why they hadn't acted before and only came to the Huoyao Prefecture exit now.

Leaving them aside for now, within the Tidal Abyss, Wang Lin, stepping on Zhou Yi's Immortal Sword, moved like a flash of lightning, heading straight for the Huoyao Prefecture exit.

Zhou Yi's speed was extremely fast. A few days later, following the Corridor, they arrived at the Abyss rift leading to Huoyao Prefecture. Just flying out from here would allow them to leave the Tidal Abyss.

The exit of Huoyao Prefecture was the only place within the Tidal Abyss that had no downward resistance, but rather upward resistance.

Here, one's speed would be pushed by seemingly infinite power, reaching even faster speeds!

Flying through the Abyss rift of Huoyao Prefecture, Wang Lin's gaze was calm, his face unperturbed. He stepped on the Flying Sword, heading straight forward, the objects on either side of his vision seeming to blur into lines, whistling past.

Just then, his Immortal Sword suddenly slowed down, circled a few times, and then stopped. Zhou Yi's Divine Thought emanated from within the Immortal Sword.

"Wang Lin, something's not right. My sword sense detected a patch of purple mist ahead. Some Cultivators seem to be trapped within the mist. This mist is strange; my sword sense can't fully penetrate it."

"Trapped Cultivators?" He hadn't seen Murong Zhuo or the two women, Zhao and Xu, along the way. Wang Lin's gaze sharpened, and he secretly wondered if it could be those three.

While Wang Lin and Zhou Yi paused, on the other side of this purple mist, groups of Mosquito Beasts were densely spread out, their deep red eyes fixed on the purple mist, revealing strong fierce glints.

The Mosquito Beasts' appearance was already ferocious, and now, with their fierce glints, they were even more terrifying!

They flapped their wings, emitting a buzzing sound. This sound merged into a continuous roar, echoing all around. However, due to the peculiar terrain of the Huoyao Prefecture exit, with a pushing force emanating from within, this sound did not travel too far.

These Mosquito Beasts were all very large, but their abdomens were flat, clearly indicating they had been hungry for a long time. Their long proboscis glowed with a chilling light, like sharp swords.

Their body colors were not all black; many were gray, and the fine hairs on them looked like sharp thorns, quite astonishing.

They surrounded the purple mist but did not enter it, only hovering outside. A violent aura grew thicker and thicker on all the Mosquito Beasts.

On the adjacent Abyss Walls, hung a few strips of cloth and large patches of dried bloodstains, along with a large sword nearby, its surface dull.

Amidst the dense Mosquito Beasts, occasionally a few proboscises would collide with each other. Each collision would spark bursts of fire and cause the colliding Mosquito Beasts to buzz louder, as if they were about to kill each other.

Whenever such a situation arose, a sharp shriek would immediately emanate from deep within the Mosquito Beast swarm. As soon as this sound appeared, the wildness of mutual slaughter would be instantly suppressed.

However, perhaps due to staying here for too long, the ferocity and violence of these Mosquito Beasts became increasingly difficult to suppress. At this moment, two Mosquito Beasts' proboscises collided, and fierce glints suddenly flared. These two Mosquito Beasts immediately shrieked and instantly began to fight each other.

Another sharp shriek came from deep within the Mosquito Beast swarm. The two fighting Mosquito Beasts paused, but were immediately overcome by ferocity, disregarding the appearance of the shriek, and resumed their fight.

The sharp shriek sounded again. This time, the Mosquito Beast swarm spread apart, creating a passage. A Mosquito Beast, about ten zhang in size and slightly purple all over, slowly flew out.

Although this Mosquito Beast had a purple hue, it was not strong, very faint, very faint.

Seven silver needles were stuck in its head, emitting waves of fluctuations, causing the Mosquito Beast's eyes to occasionally show signs of pain. Its appearance immediately made the two fighting Mosquito Beasts stop, their eyes revealing fierce glints towards each other.

This purplish Mosquito Beast let out a shriek. This sound seemed to possess a Divine Ability; all the Mosquito Beasts trembled upon hearing it. Seizing this opportunity, the Purple Mosquito Beast flapped its wings, and its entire body, like a flash of lightning, instantly arrived beside the other two Mosquito Beasts. Its huge proboscis suddenly jabbed twice, immediately piercing through the two Mosquito Beasts. With a suck, the two Mosquito Beasts instantly withered, turning into dried corpses that fell from mid-air.

The Purple Mosquito Beast turned and coldly surveyed its surroundings. All the Mosquito Beasts immediately let out cries of submission, no longer daring to kill each other. The Purple Mosquito Beast slowly flew towards the depths of the beast swarm, an ancient aura emanating from its body.
