Chapter 70: Origin (Part 5)
Several waiters emerged from nowhere, waving thick wooden clubs, and surrounded Bai Yi.
"Poor scholar, I really couldn't tell you had such guts, daring to refuse our boss's kindness.
Hand over the snow fox, and we'll treat you to good food and drink; otherwise, you'll get a taste of Grandpa's club."
Bai Yi's lips turned pale, and his hands trembled slightly, but he held the little fox tightly and refused to let go.
"No, don't you dare think about going after her. I will not hand her over."
The waiter raised his voice and shouted.
"You really don't shed tears until you see the coffin. Today, I'll make you regret coming here. Do it!"
Bai Yi knew that this beating was inevitable, so he shielded the little fox beneath his body.
"Thud, thud, thud."
Several clubs rained down in succession. Soon, Bai Yi had been beaten severely; his body went limp, and he was on the verge of death.
Nearby, Lin Fan's fists clenched until they cracked, and his eyes seemed to be spitting fire.
The shopkeeper felt a chill in his heart upon seeing this and quickly shouted:
"Stop!"
He was afraid that if they exerted even a little more force, the man before him would completely explode.
Afterward, he threw some silver from his bosom and cursed:
"What bad luck. Take this silver as your medical expenses and get lost!"
Bai Yi gathered up the silver on the ground and anxiously searched everywhere for his copper coins, but they were nowhere to be found.
The shopkeeper kicked the string of copper coins toward Bai Yi and snorted coldly.
"How pathetic. Take your lousy copper coins and get out!"
Lin Fan kept his eyes locked on the shopkeeper; he felt a secret satisfaction in his heart that the shopkeeper had beaten Bai Yi.
But the moment he thought about how these people were trying to snatch Bai Youyou, he was filled with rage. He had followed all the way here just to figure out how to take Bai Youyou back.
He, the number one snatcher, hadn't even made a move yet, and they had already acted. Lin Fan felt that this kind of line-cutting behavior deserved a lesson.
Lin Fan really wanted to deal with the person before him, but he was pinned down by the rules of the world and couldn't move an inch; he could only stare at him with blood-red eyes.
The shopkeeper walked up to Lin Fan, a smug, cold smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
"What? Want to make a move?"
He asked mockingly and reached out to lightly pat Lin Fan's cheek.
"I've already paid the silver. If you dare to make a move, the authorities will be coming for you. Why aren't you doing anything?"
His words were flippant, his actions casual; the damage was low, but the insult was extremely high.
Several waiters also gathered around, watching with playful expressions as Lin Fan was humiliated.
"Hey, this is interesting. This guy is actually glaring at us!"
"Ha! Ha!"
Suddenly, Lin Fan felt that invisible suppression vanish instantly, and his body felt light.
It turned out that Bai Youyou wished for someone to teach these people a lesson.
Even though this wasn't something that existed in his memories, through Bai Youyou's fantasy, Lin Fan gained the opportunity to strike.
"The opportunity has come!"
Lin Fan's eyes turned cold, and without a shred of hesitation, he moved.
His palms struck out repeatedly like a gale, so fast that it was hard for the naked eye to track his movements.
With a dull "thud," the waiters screamed as they were sent flying backward, crashing heavily onto the ground, curling up in pain and emitting intermittent groans.
The shopkeeper hadn't even reacted before he felt his wrist being gripped like an iron pincer, and he winced in pain.
"Ah—" The scream only lasted halfway before, in the next instant, Lin Fan backhanded him with a heavy slap!
"Slap!"
The crisp sound echoed throughout the shop, and half of the shopkeeper's face instantly swelled up.
He stumbled back two steps, blood spilling from the corner of his mouth, his eyes filled with shock and fear.
"Weren't you quite arrogant just a moment ago?" Lin Fan's mouth curled into a cold smile, and he backhanded him again.
"Slap—"
"Daring to lay hands on me, you've got some nerve." The third slap followed immediately.
"Slap—"
The shopkeeper was beaten until he was dizzy, his face burning with pain, and he let out incoherent whimpers.
"Why aren't you talking now? You were so energetic with your patting earlier." Lin Fan suddenly raised his leg and kicked the shopkeeper hard in the knee.
With a "thump," the shopkeeper fell to his knees, his face deathly pale, begging repeatedly: "Grandpa, spare me! I was wrong! I won't dare to do it again!"
Lin Fan watched his wretched state, leaned down slightly, and tapped the shopkeeper's face a few times with his finger.
He said coldly: "How does this feel?"
The shopkeeper was beaten black and blue by the series of slaps, the burning pain on his face mixing with Lin Fan's mocking tone.
Despite losing all face, he didn't have the slightest thought of resisting.
Because he had no doubt that if he made any rash moves, Lin Fan would end his life without the slightest hesitation.
"Young hero, spare me! I, I won't dare again… I beg you to spare me!" The shopkeeper knelt on the ground, trembling as he begged.
Lin Fan looked down at him with an amused expression.
"Spare you?"
He smiled lightly, waved his finger, and somehow produced a menu from nowhere, spreading it out before the shopkeeper.
"Spare you, sure, but you have to pay a 'fee'."
The shopkeeper looked up blankly, his gaze falling upon the menu, and saw it clearly written:
Corrective Education Fee: Slap Correction Service: One slap, 10,000 taels of silver. Services rendered: 3. Total due: 30,000 taels of silver.
The shopkeeper's eyes widened, his Adam's apple bobbed, and his voice went off-key: "You… why don't you just go rob someone!"
"Rob?" Lin Fan raised an eyebrow, with a half-smile. "No, this is a legitimate business. You received the corresponding service; you must pay."
The shopkeeper was red with rage, but the Lin Fan before him was like an immovable mountain.
He gritted his teeth hard and said with a trembling voice: "I, I don't have that much money!"
"No money?" Lin Fan snorted coldly and suddenly raised his hand. "Slap! Slap!" He dealt two more slaps!
The shopkeeper's head swayed side to side from the impact, and half his face instantly swelled red. He didn't even have time to scream, and his ears were ringing.
Lin Fan slowly withdrew his hand and said nonchalantly: "It seems I need to adjust the price again."
He handed the menu to the shopkeeper once more, and the amount on it changed accordingly:
Corrective Education Fee: Slap Correction Service: One slap, 10,000 taels of silver. Services rendered: 5. Total due: 50,000 taels of silver.
"50,000 taels of silver, payable immediately."
Lin Fan stomped hard on the shopkeeper's chest, applying a little pressure.
He could hear the bones creaking; the shopkeeper instantly turned pale, cold sweat streaming down.
"Young hero, stop! Stop! I, I'll pay! I'll pay, okay!" The shopkeeper wailed loudly in pain.
"Oh? It would have been better if you were this straightforward earlier. You really had to suffer a bit before you were willing to give in."
Lin Fan's gaze was cold, and he showed no intention of easing the pressure under his foot.
He leaned down slightly, a mocking smile on his lips.
"However, I don't really like people who don't keep their word. So… if you dare to play any tricks, bear the consequences yourself."
The shopkeeper clutched his chest with both hands and nodded painfully: "No, I wouldn't dare! I really wouldn't dare! Waiters, why haven't you brought the silver yet!"
The waiter shivered all over, nodded hurriedly, and stumbled back to the counter.
Only then did Lin Fan withdraw his foot, look down at the shopkeeper from a superior position, and say indifferently:
"Remember, this is just a small lesson for you. If you dare to bully the weak again in the future, I don't mind making you disappear completely."
"I wouldn't dare, I wouldn't dare, I definitely won't dare in the future."
Before long, a harsh grating sound arrived.
Four waiters dragged a heavy silver bag, panting as they arrived in front of Lin Fan, their legs shaking; they were clearly exhausted.
"The silver… we have brought it for you."
The waiter wiped the sweat from his forehead and forced a smile. However, a flash of craftiness flickered in his eyes.
Lin Fan smiled slightly, glanced at the heavy bag of silver, and already understood in his heart.
He knew that these people were deliberately making trouble, intending to create a problem for him.
If fifty thousand taels were in silver notes, it would just be five thin sheets of paper. But now, it was such a large bag.
Lin Fan reached out, untied the silver bag, and opened it to look; it was just as he had expected.
At the mouth of the bag lay a few scattered silver notes, but the bag itself was full of silver ingots and fragments, piled up in a glittering heap.
"So you really wanted to make it impossible for me to carry it away…" Lin Fan sneered, casting a contemptuous glance at the shopkeeper and the waiters.
