Chapter 712 Dark Land
(The previous chapter has been updated; it is recommended to re-read it.)
"Boom!"
Deep in the Realm Sea, the power of darkness surged; even though the four Quasi-Immortal Emperors had been dead for many years, this place remained terrifyingly formidable.
With a bang, Lin Fan descended upon this place and threw a punch, dispersing the raging Dark Storm and blasting a path through.
Last time, he and Shi Hao had only intercepted their great enemies within the Realm Sea and had not reached its end; this was their first time doing so.
"Buzz!"
In the next moment, the area vibrated violently as halls emerged from the Void Realm one after another, connecting to form a path.
However, this path was unique, constructed entirely from Guidance Ancient Palaces; it pierced through the Void Realm and was pitch-black, impossible to see through.
"Let's go!"
Lin Fan and Shi Hao did not hesitate, resolutely stepping onto it, intending to use it to reach the end of the sea quickly.
"Chih!"
In an instant, two streaks of light flashed, and Lin Fan and Shi Hao vanished, as if stepping upon the river of time, moving from the present age toward eternity.
It was truly miraculous!
Time and space were chaotic here, and the years shifted as if this place did not belong to the mortal realm; the Great Dao rumbled, suppressed by mysterious Laws.
"Thump!"
Soon, a path of the Great Dao broke through the darkness, carrying the two to the end and saving them a significant amount of travel time.
"The Dam!" The two were startled and looked ahead.
There, a plain gray Dam appeared, lying across the end of the Realm Sea, looking extremely similar to the one at the other end where their homeland was.
However, the area ahead was pitch-black; even a Quasi-Immortal Emperor could only see a blurry outline of the vast territory behind it.
Furthermore, the Laws here were abnormal and presented great danger; if an Immortal King were to approach, they would surely be crushed to death.
This was why some Immortal Kings, despite reaching this place and knowing the Land of Darkness lay ahead, were simply unable to go ashore.
Now that Lin Fan and Shi Hao had arrived, being in the Quasi-Immortal Emperor Realm, they naturally had no fear of the pressure here and walked with light steps.
"Only by ascending the Dam and crossing the Land of Darkness can we reach the Ultimate Ancient Land!" Shi Hao said.
Lin Fan also understood; the two of them had long since learned the secrets of this place from the fallen Emperor Cang, the World-Ending Old Man, and others.
Even though it was their first time here, they wouldn't waste much time on the road, as they could find a passage leading straight to their destination.
Behind the Dam, the Land of Darkness truly lived up to its name; it was as black as ink, with no end in sight, as if they had entered Hell.
There was no vitality here, nor any essence flowing; it was deathly still, a completely different world from the other side of the sea.
It was truly different; even the Great Dao was eerie. If one could not adapt, their very dharma body might crumble!
However, Lin Fan and Shi Hao were fearless. They used their bodies as seeds and pursued the inner Dao; no matter how the world changed or the Laws shifted, they remained unaffected.
"Wooo—"
Black winds howled, flickering with dark light as they raged through this place; those were Great Dao symbols and the most original dark matter.
"Buzz!"
Lin Fan did not dodge; a shroud of light rose around him, protecting him so that the sweeping black mist could not erode him. Shi Hao was even more direct; with a boom, he threw a punch that streaked across the sky like a beam of light, piercing through the past, present, and future.
"Crack!"
Between heaven and earth, black Divine Chains of Order intersected like iron chains, pressing down with a demonic nature.
Consequently, under Huang's punch, all the black divine chains snapped inch by inch, then burned fiercely until they were completely obliterated.
"Swish!"
The two continued to step forward, walking through the ancient land where darkness was eternal; everywhere they looked, the mountains and rivers were black.
Clearly, this place had completely fallen into darkness; the world was deathly silent, permeated everywhere by weirdness and misfortune.
Since the destruction of the Dark Army, this place had turned into a land of death, devoid of life, where all spirits were extinguished.
Along the way, the two also saw some remains; some were as massive as mountains, while others were as small as a thumb—
However, they were all dead, their cold bones scattered across the black earth, having been extinguished for countless millennia.
But with the cultivation of a Quasi-Immortal Emperor, it wasn't hard to see that they had been extremely powerful in life—at least Immortal Kings, with no lack of Giants among them.
"So many heroes came one after another, yet in the end, they still died, throwing their lives away." Lin Fan sighed and raised his arm.
With a soft sound, without him even needing to exert force, a gentle touch caused several corpses on the ground to turn to ash and vanish.
The so-called indestructible bodies of Immortal Kings were not enough to withstand the Land of Darkness; one could see how pitiable these people had been.
Some had come to quell the Dark Unrest, while others came to take a step further and become Emperors, but in the end, they all turned to dust.
Before long, the two entered the depths of the Land of Darkness, which became increasingly eerie; what overflowed from the divine mountains was not Spiritual Qi but black mist.
On the mountains, some planted divine medicines had been eroded, becoming as black as ink and no longer possessing a sacred aura.
One could imagine: if even divine medicines were like this, what would happen to other living beings who set foot here?
Subsequently, an Immortal Medicine of Longevity appeared, haunting this ancient land, but unfortunately, it too had turned black and emitted an eerie aura.
For a Dark Creature, it might be a life-saving medicine, but for normal beings, it was a life-ending poison.
"Shiu!"
Next, the two walked as if on level ground, their bright clothes standing out in stark contrast as they moved through the dark world.
At the same time, they accelerated; with a single step from a Quasi-Immortal Emperor, galaxies could be reversed, and one Universe after another receded into the distance.
Such power and speed were extremely astonishing, as if they were walking upon the long river of time!
Along the way, they traversed more than one Universe, but nothing changed; darkness was the sole theme here.
If the Immortal Domain represented the world of light, then this was its reflection in a mirror—one black, one white, heaven and Hell!
Furthermore, upon entering the heartland, it became even more so; millions of miles of territory were covered in white bones, which were exceptionally striking.
Both Lin Fan and Shi Hao were moved; just how many living beings had perished here?
Most terrifyingly, by reconstructing their living forms from the bones, these creatures were not much different from those of the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths or the Immortal Domain.
In other words, they were all races that had been guided here, only to be eliminated in the end and die violent deaths.
"Those four fellows really deserve to die; who knows how many beings they sacrificed and how many races they guided to this side!"
Shi Hao was filled with righteous indignation.
Since the Era of Emperor Fall alone, more than one known Epoch has passed; what about before the Emperor Fall? How many Epochs have been destroyed?
Not to mention the billions of living beings who died during this period; it was absolutely a shocking number.
Then, filled with grief and indignation, the two continued forward.
Finally, they arrived!
The end of the Land of Darkness!
This place was unusual again; besides the boundless darkness, there was a massive complex of palaces lying across the front, blocking the way.
"Dark Heavenly Court!"
Lin Fan and Shi Hao were both startled as they saw a stele with bloody characters written on it, naming what these palaces were.
However, they weren't too surprised; they had long known from the fallen Emperor Cang and the others that there was a Heavenly Court here!
Over countless ages, the four Quasi-Immortal Emperors had essentially all established this orthodoxy at some point, but they were all eventually destroyed.
As for who did it—they had done it themselves!
This was why there were rumors in the world that those who rashly established a Heavenly Court would suffer mysterious calamities and meet a bad end.
Because the source of the curse was right here.
