Chapter 73: Origin (Part 8)

His voice gradually became hoarse, his reason was stripped away bit by bit, and with it came an uncontrollable sense of forgetting.

These images were like sharp blades, slicing away Lin Fan's memories of his own past; the more he resisted, the more painful it became.

He struggled incessantly, crying out, as if being dragged into a bottomless abyss.

In the end, Lin Fan only remembered the "Fan" character from his name, while everything else was completely overwritten by Bai Yi's memories.

At that moment, his Sea of Consciousness finally became blank.

The night deepened, and the cold wind continued to howl. On a pile of straw, Lin Fan stared blankly at Bai Youyou's peacefully sleeping face, his eyes filled with bewilderment.

Lin Fan's Life Wheel had completely undergone Fusion with Bai Yi's; his original memories were completely lost, leaving only the character "Fan" lingering in his mind, while everything else was replaced by Bai Yi's memories.

In the early morning, sunlight gently spilled into the farmhouse, and a breeze swept by, bringing a touch of cool chill.

"Brother Bai Yi, are you feeling any better? That gang yesterday was really heavy-handed."

Bai Youyou's voice was soft and light. She had somehow acquired a spiritual fruit and was carefully peeling it.

She lowered her head, her snowy white fingers nimbly peeling away the skin layer by layer, revealing the crystal-clear flesh inside.

Bai Yi (Lin Fan) gently rubbed his temples, a hint of confusion in his eyes: "Youyou, was there someone else who came with us yesterday?"

Bai Youyou paused slightly, a look of confusion appearing on her face: "No! You beat those thugs pretty badly yesterday, remember? Then you fainted halfway, and I carried you here, managing to find this dilapidated little farmhouse with great difficulty."

Bai Yi continued to press, "And then?"

Bai Youyou's voice carried a hint of heartache as she replied: "Then in the middle of the night, you were shivering from the cold, so I held you to keep you warm… and then you woke up."

[Because of Lin Fan's presence, the shopkeeper did not dare to lay a heavy hand on Bai Yi. Bai Yi circulated the secret technique of Medicine God Valley, keeping his internal breath stable to naturally resist the cold poison. Lin Fan, however, was different; despite his profound cultivation, he had no way to deal with this cold poison and was shivering uncontrollably. Bai Youyou held the key memory: in the farmhouse, she embraced the shivering Bai Yi, becoming the first man in her life. Lin Fan did not refuse, the memory world repaired its chaos, and Lin Fan was assimilated into Bai Yi.]

Bai Yi frowned, repeatedly recalling the scene from last night in his mind.

Every scene Bai Youyou described emerged clearly in his mind; it seemed there were indeed no omissions.

"Is that really how it was…" He muttered to himself, his gaze flickering as if wanting to dig something out from the depths of his memories, but having no way to start.

"Why do I suddenly feel that the character 'Fan' is so important to me…" He couldn't help but smile bitterly. "But I can't remember why it is so important."

Bai Youyou looked up at him, a trace of pity flashing in her eyes. She gently placed the peeled spiritual fruit into Bai Yi (Lin Fan)'s hand and said softly:

"Brother Bai Yi, you were seriously injured yesterday, and I'm afraid you might have hurt your head. If you really can't remember the meaning of that character, why not add it to your name? That way, by saying it all the time, maybe one day you'll remember."

Bai Yi (Lin Fan) looked at the spiritual fruit in his hand, lost in thought.

The lonely "Fan" character in his mind was still flickering, like some indescribable obsession, tightly entwined in his heart.

"That's true. Then from now on, I will change my name to Bai Fan. Until one day, I remember what this 'Fan' character really represents."

A sweet smile appeared on Bai Youyou's face.

"Alright, then from now on I'll call you Brother Bai Fan."

"Brother Bai Fan…"

Bai Fan nodded gently and raised his hand to touch her delicate cheek, full of affection.

"Brother Bai Fan, what are you doing?" Bai Youyou gave him a shy glare, her words carrying a hint of feigned reproach.

"Nothing, Youyou, you are so beautiful!" Bai Fan smiled brightly, his eyes full of admiration.

A layer of blush instantly spread across Bai Youyou's pretty face. She averted her eyes for a moment and lightly punched Bai Fan on the shoulder, reproaching him:

"What nonsense are you talking about!"

"I'm telling the truth." Bai Fan shrugged, looking at her with a straight face. "If you keep getting more beautiful like this, I'll have to hold you in the palm of my hand every day and not let anyone bully you."

Listening to this, Bai Youyou's heart fluttered. Her hands unconsciously gripped her hem tightly, and she lowered her head, whispering like a mosquito: "Brother Bai Fan, if you really hold me in the palm of your hand, then… then what about your future wife…"

Bai Fan was taken aback, then laughed heartily, "Simple! She will be the big one, and you will be the small one."

"Ah! What do you mean she will be the big one and I will be the small one!"

Bai Youyou was somewhat embarrassed and annoyed by his words, and immediately began hitting Bai Fan's chest with her small, pink fists.

"You, you only know how to bully me!"

"Ouch! Ouch! I'm joking, stop, I'm covered in injuries right now!" Bai Fan laughed while repeatedly begging for mercy.

Bai Youyou only then reacted, hurriedly stopping her hands, a flash of panic in her eyes: "I… I didn't mean to…"

She hurriedly reached out to lift Bai Fan's lapel to check his injuries, but the result was that (Lin Fan)'s lean and well-proportioned abdominal muscles were suddenly revealed before her eyes.

Although marked with a few scars, it didn't affect the overall aesthetic at all; instead, it appeared exceptionally tough and well-defined.

"Brother Bai Fan, I didn't expect you to have such a good physique…"

Bai Youyou stared blankly, unable to stop herself from gently stroking Bai Fan's muscles.

The firm and elastic sensation made her fingers tremble slightly, and for a moment, she fell into a daze.

"Does it still hurt?" She lowered her voice extremely softly, fearing she might hurt Bai Fan again.

Bai Fan smiled and shook his head, "It doesn't hurt anymore."

This sentence seemed to break some kind of taboo, and Bai Youyou finally realized that she was actually touching Bai Fan's muscles so brazenly.

Startled, her pretty face instantly turned as red as a ripe apple.

She hurriedly turned away, not even daring to lift her head: "Th-then you rest well… I, I'll go repair this farmhouse."

Saying this, she hurriedly stood up and ran to the corner as if fleeing. She neatly rolled up her sleeves, squatted down, and used her hands to knead some broken straw and mud from the floor together, carefully filling the cracks in the wall.

"Hey! Do you want me to help you!"

Bai Youyou was stunned upon hearing this, her cheeks turning even redder.

She had originally run to the corner just to avoid the awkwardness from a moment ago, and now Bai Fan actually wanted to come over and help?

She panicked immediately, not daring to lift her head, and could only shake it vigorously, saying in a flustered tone: "N-no! Don't come over!"

After speaking, she even somewhat hurriedly stuffed the kneaded mud in her hands into the wall crack indiscriminately.

The whole person was like a startled little deer, appearing even more endearing in her panic.

Bai Fan watched her busy figure, a flash of pity and helplessness in his eyes.

He wanted to go and help, but he also knew that going over now would only be asking for trouble.

Driven by Bai Yi's memories, Bai Fan habitually took a book from his bag to read carefully, entering an ethereal state for a time, completely unaware of things outside.
