Chapter 761 The Method of Transcendence
The Method of Detachment
Sacrificing the Dao, a level higher than the Immortal Emperor Domain, but not necessarily exceeding it by much, can form a major Realm of its own.
However, throughout the ages, beings who could reach this step have been few and far between, far more difficult and dangerous than the End-of-the-Road Level.
Only by burning away rules, order, and sacrificing the supreme Great Dao can one truly undergo ultimate sublimation, transcend above, and become invincible under heaven!
Therefore, the so-called Dao principles and the like are completely useless to them.
Yet, what kind of scenery lies in the Realm above Sacrificing the Dao?
This was the pursuit of many, and Lin Fan was also on this path. Yet regarding this Realm, there were too many secrets, and no one had yet caught a glimpse of it.
In fact, they did not even know whether this Realm truly existed.
However, Lin Fan was different. He knew clearly that there was still a road to walk beyond Sacrificing the Dao, and that Realm truly existed.
Throughout endless ages, that unknown Sick Old Man, the source of all turmoil, was an existence of that very level.
Omniscient and omnipotent, all things and all creations, the birth and destruction of the heavens were all within a single thought; he feared no Karma, and could even pluck the River of Time at will to alter the destinies of others.
This was the most compelling description of that Realm.
"To reach this Realm, does one really have to sacrifice every bit of oneself, leaving no leeway and not a single trace, in order to succeed
?
"
Lin Fan pondered. Regarding this Realm, he held a different view; in fact, it could be named the Primordial Chaos Golden Immortal.
Golden Immortal signified immortality, Daluo represented Eternal uniqueness, and as for Primordial Chaos, it encompassed everything and contained all, vast without an exterior and minute without an interior.
Simply put, Primordial Chaos could be void or it could be existence; empty yet not empty, one in essence with the Dao, united with the Dao.
To attain the Primordial Chaos Golden Immortal, immortality and eternity were prerequisites, the first goals a Cultivator had to achieve. But upon reaching Primordial Chaos, it was different.
Immortality and eternity instead became shackles hindering detachment; at this point, one had to reduce to achieve emptiness, invert cause and effect, and sacrifice oneself to offer up the Dao.
This was also why, in a desperate situation, Lin Fan and Shi Hao gained a sliver of life after burning away their Dao fruits, advancing to the Sacrificing the Dao Realm.
Surpassing limits, reigning outside the mundane world, leaping out of the so-called Eternal, with all Karma extinguished, leaving only their Dao method!
However, this was still not thorough enough, which was why they had only taken half a step, lingering between Immortal Emperor and Primordial Chaos Golden Immortal.
If one obliterated all traces, leaving not even peerless emperor arts, causing oneself to vanish entirely, perhaps it would not merely be half a step, but reaching straight above Sacrificing the Dao.
Of course, taking that half-step was also crucial; without that kind of comprehension, doing so directly would mean certain death with no hope of survival.
"In fact, the Three-World Parasol-Wood Coffin is already telling the world that burying the past, burying the present, and burying the future might not be an invalid method of detachment."
Lin Fan whispered softly, his gaze profound.
However, saying so was one thing, but whether one could accomplish it was another. Reducing to achieve emptiness—how difficult was that?
Throughout a person's life, Karma is ceaseless; how could it be severed entirely? Could one kill everyone connected to oneself and destroy all worlds?
How would that differ from the Strange Clan? In any case, Lin Fan could never bring himself to do it. If achieving detachment for oneself alone meant exterminating everything, it was better not to advance.
In the future, that Shi Hao, Ye Fan, and Chu Feng could reach above Sacrificing the Dao also owed to a degree of luck.
Were it not for the Strange Clan sacrificing all worlds in order to erase everything about them from existence, making that breakthrough would have been exceedingly difficult.
This was also why, as soon as Chu Feng died and all Karma was extinguished, the other two made their breakthrough alongside him.
"If I seek detachment, I may not need to do this. What if I reverse it?" Lin Fan murmured to himself, casting his gaze into the infinite distance of time.
The heavens once again welcomed rebirth and prosperity; Ye Fan, Wu Shi, and the Empress led a mighty host charging into the Immortal Domain.
The era of the new generation's Three Heavenly Emperors had arrived.
However, the Immortal Domain at this time was fractured into countless pieces, and what they entered was only a single corner of it.
"The Immortal Domain is ruined, with only a few true immortals remaining; no more can emerge, and it needs restoration," Duan De murmured.
"Daoist Duan, you hail from the Chaotic Ancient Era and have met those two; you must know a great deal," Wu Shi inquired.
Duan De swished his whisk, smiled wryly, and shook his head. "In the previous era, before Poor Dao could witness many things, I had already fallen."
"Woof! Dead fatty, you're nothing special either. You usually brag so boastfully about being brothers with that man, but in the end you were just a bystander."
The Big Black Dog mocked, glaring at him with disdain.
"Dead dog, what do you know? The cruelty of the Chaotic Ancient Era was far beyond imagination; even Immortal Kings perished in droves."
Duan De glared back, then rolled his eyes and jeered, "At least I'm not like a certain dog who doesn't have the slightest memory of its past life."
"Back in the day, a certain dog's backside was kicked into eight pieces by that man—how pathetic!"
The Black Emperor was just about to bare its teeth in retort, but as if struck by some unseen Karma, or perhaps remembering something, it instinctively tucked its bald tail
in.
Moreover, the Empress was also looking at it, making it panic even more.
"Heh-heh, did entering the Immortal Domain trigger your Awakening of past-life memories?" Duan De chuckled sleazily.
"Ugh—piss off!" The Big Black Dog rarely blushed, but with its pitch-black face, no one could see it anyway.
Looking thoroughly embarrassed, it uncharacteristically glanced left and right and whispered, "It's just out of habit. Although that man is peerlessly invincible, I'm genuinely terrified whenever I see him."
Ordinary people might not have heard it, but everyone here was a master with acute senses; hearing it clearly, they couldn't help bursting into laughter.
Because it was truly unprecedented—even this dog had times when it was afraid, and tucking its tail had even become second nature.
"What are you laughing at!" The Black Emperor snapped in angry embarrassment, unable to save face, standing upright on its hind legs and howling at the top of its lungs.
Most importantly, it realized that the two people it feared most seemed to be of the same family, causing it to curse continuously in its heart.
"Rumble!"
Suddenly, from Above the Heavens, a bolt of thunder crashed down, striking square on the Big Black Dog and leaving it in a wretched state.
Some people even caught the scent of cooked dog meat.
"Ah—cooked, I'm cooked! Great Emperor, save me—I won't dare curse you again, spare me!" The Big Black Dog screamed and begged for mercy.
Everyone froze, and even Wu Shi and Ye Fan looked toward The Ruthless Empress, assuming she had struck out to discipline the Black Emperor.
After all, that bolt of lightning had come too abruptly; there were no dark clouds in the sky, and the fluctuations of Law indicated it was by no means an accident.
"It wasn't me," the Empress replied coldly.
As soon as these words came out, many grew confused. If the Empress hadn't struck, then who was it?
Just then, Duan De—who was Cao Yusheng of the Chaotic Ancient Era—snorted with laughter and mocked, "Serves you right!"
"What kind of figure is that man? His Realm is unfathomably high, looking down upon all ages! You actually had the nerve to curse him in your heart—you really have a death wish!"
"Ugh—I never imagined that just a passing thought in my mind would get me struck by lightning."
The Black Emperor's fur stood on end; it hurriedly stopped its thoughts and earnestly apologized toward the heavens. It was truly terrified.
Everyone realized then that that man had already become a taboo; even merely mentioning or thinking of him would be sensed by heaven and earth, bringing down disaster.
"It seems the Chaotic Ancient Era holds many secrets that we need to dig into," Ye Fan sighed.
