Chapter 786: Spatial Maze
The howling wind whistled past his ears.
Ten minutes.
Twenty minutes.
Half an hour later.
Zhou Huai's expression completely darkened.
Useless.
Even though Little Black had pushed its speed to the extreme, the surrounding scenery still didn't change at all.
The shape of every sand dune, the flow of every gust of hot wind, and even the hanging angle of the scorching sun above their heads were exactly the same as half an hour ago!
"Stop. Stop flying." Zhou Huai immediately commanded.
Little Black slammed on the brakes mid-air, its massive Dragon wings stirring up a violent sandstorm, before hovering steadily in mid-air.
"Found the problem?" Chun turned around from the side, crossing her arms. There was no panic on her breathtaking face, and her tone was calm, as if she were talking about a trivial matter that had nothing to do with her.
"It looks like we're trapped," she added.
Zhou Huai was about to speak.
But he saw Chun pull out an exquisite small wooden jar from somewhere.
With her slender fingers, she squeezed a milky-white, plant-scented paste out of the jar and began smearing it onto her fair arms and neck.
Zhou Huai stared blankly at her actions, his mind filled with question marks.
"What are you smearing on yourself?"
"Sunscreen," Chun replied matter-of-factly without raising her head, evenly patting her skin as she smeared it.
"Sunscreen?!" Zhou Huai's voice involuntarily rose by an octave. "We're in this kind of situation, and you're still in the mood to put on this stuff?"
"I concocted and created this myself using the essences of thousands of ancient plants," Chun raised her head and blinked at him.
"It has exceptionally great sun protection and hydrating effects, specifically designed to cope with this kind of extreme burning Law. Do you need some? For the sake of our alliance, I can share a little with you."
Zhou Huai shook his head somewhat amusedly. Looking at her leisurely and contented expression, he couldn't help but complain, "How come I feel like you're not here to help me deal with Mr. Duan and those monsters from the old era, but rather out on a sightseeing vacation?"
"Sightseeing is also part of my plan," Chun looked at him with a half-smile and put the wooden jar away.
"I spent so many years in those pitch-black underground ruins, and now that I've finally come out, of course I have to properly enjoy the sunlight of the present world. Even if this sunlight… is a fake."
She paused, putting away her joking tone, and cast her gaze toward the endless sea of sand around them.
"The Law of Space here has been completely distorted. This isn't a naturally formed desert at all, but an extremely massive spatial maze."
Chun pointed at the scorching sun above their heads: "Didn't you just ask me why the sun felt off? Because that's not a sun at all, but the core formation eye maintaining the operation of this maze."
"Since you saw through it long ago, why didn't you say so earlier?" Zhou Huai frowned and asked.
"You are the protagonist of this game of chess, I'm just an accessory providing intelligence," Chun spread her hands with a righteous expression.
"If I had to solve every little trouble we encounter, what would you use to contend with Mr. Duan?"
She walked over to Zhou Huai and patted his shoulder.
"So, you'd better think carefully about how to get out of this damn place."
"A spatial maze?"
After listening to Chun's analysis, not only did Zhou Huai not show any panic, but he even smiled.
He narrowed his eyes slightly, his gaze sweeping across the unchanging golden sand dunes around him, his tone carrying a bit of ease and certainty: "It seems that this host hiding in the shadows is clearly also an expert proficient in the Space-type."
"Aren't you worried?" Chun stopped the action of smearing sunscreen beside him, a flash of surprise passing through her green eyes.
"The Space-type Law is one of the most tricky Advanced Laws in the present world. Even if you have undergone Fusion with the power of so many top-tier powerhouses now, inside someone else's spatial home turf, once you are completely banished or sliced apart, it is still a dangerous matter."
Chun's reminder was not alarmist.
The eerie part of the Law of Space lay in how impossible it was to guard against; it didn't compete with you in terms of strength or health points, but directly launched a dimensional reduction strike against you from the dimensional level.
If it were before today, Zhou Huai might have found it tricky to encounter a spatial maze of this level.
After all, his previous power system—whether it was Xiang Yu's ultimate Physical Body, Yasuo's violent thunder, or Hou Yi's starry divine arrows—mostly dealt damage at the physical or conventional magic level.
Facing this endless maze constructed entirely by the Law of Space, even if he had the power to move mountains and fill seas, he could only be trapped and die here like a headless fly.
But now?
The situation was completely different.
Zhou Huai chuckled softly. He slowly raised his right hand, feeling the power belonging to Victor that had just undergone Fusion within his body, belonging to the Void Realm Herrscher.
That was a sense of absolute control that transcended all matter and allowed one to manipulate spatial nodes at will.
"If it were before this, I might still have found it tricky. But now…" Zhou Huai turned his head and looked at the Goddess of Nature beside him.
"Now I myself also have a top-tier Space-type Clone, and it's the most unreasonable kind. This little spatial trick is not that big of a problem anymore."
As soon as his voice fell, the world before Zhou Huai's eyes changed drastically under his Void Omniscience passive.
The originally flawless yellow sand and scorching sun turned into a huge spiderweb woven from countless fragile spatial threads within his perception.
And at the intersection of these threads, an extremely concealed spatial node emitting ancient fluctuations was hidden.
"Found you."
Zhou Huai whispered.
Instead of directly using "Dimensional Collapse" to forcefully destroy it, he channeled the high-dimensional Law of Space he had just acquired, silently and reversely infiltrating along that spiderweb.
Hum——!
As two completely different Laws of Space collided in secret, the scorching sun and yellow sand around them, which seemed eternal and unchanging, suddenly rippled violently like water surface struck by a pebble.
Following that, the entire world began to twist and fold in an extremely eerie manner.
The once glaring and scorching daytime shed all its colors and temperature in an instant.
The curtain of the sky was torn down, completely turning this fake space upside down.
Day suddenly turned into a suffocating pure black.
There was no transition, no dusk, only extreme darkness.
"The weather has changed," Chun slightly raised her head, looking at the pitch-black night sky above her head that was thick like ink, her tone still calm.
"It seems your counterattack has successfully forced the master of this space out."
Above this boundless black night sky, space underwent another violent distortion.
Dots of dim light emerged in the darkness.
At first, they looked like scattered fireflies, but very soon, these lights quickly gathered and outlined themselves.
In just a few seconds, a huge and aged face unbelievably appeared above the night sky!
