Chapter 80: Remember to Go to Bed Early

The Cultivators following behind Qin Hall noticed the scene in the distance, and all of them were struck with horror.

"What a bunch of idiots. It was already said that we encountered something strange, yet they still tried to run away. They really don't know how to write the word 'death'."

"I know one of them, it's the Foundation Establishment cultivator Sun Kairong. His Daoist arts were quite impressive; I didn't expect him to die so silently."

"Strange, they died, but why didn't we see any Heaven and Earth anomalies?"

"Is this the first time Fellow Daoist has heard of an anomaly? Under the shroud of an anomaly, it forms its own rules. Most common knowledge becomes invalid. So, one must treat it with even more caution."

"Thank you for the guidance, Fellow Daoist."

As they walked, they communicated using Divine Sense, their expressions varying.

Not long after, Qin Hall led everyone into a tall building.

In the center was a straight corridor.

On both sides of the corridor were small cubicles.

Inside each room, there were no other decorations.

Just five wooden beds placed simply.

"Alright! Everyone will rest here tonight! Tomorrow morning, gather in the square!" Qin Hall turned his head and said to everyone.

Having said that, he shook his head and walked out.

"By the way, remember to go to bed early!"

After his figure disappeared, Qin Hall's voice drifted in faintly once more.

Seeing that strange person disappear, the Cultivators present finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Most of them were with people they were familiar with and found a room to stay in together.

Naturally, Si Kongyi and Hundred Mile Chen stayed in the same place.

Li Fan didn't try to force his way in with them, instead choosing another room that was relatively close by.

There were already two people in the room.

These two also knew each other and were communicating something using Divine Sense.

Li Fan didn't greet them either.

He lay straight down on the bed, the Profound Yellow Heart Refining Mantra circulating, and the stray thoughts in his heart vanished completely.

Before long, he fell into a deep sleep.

The other two who were still talking were stunned when they saw this.

Then, thinking of something, their faces suddenly turned deathly pale, appearing to be struck by a wave of lingering fear.

Consequently, the two of them stopped communicating and forced themselves to fall asleep.

But not everyone was keen enough to perceive what was about to happen.

Many people were still discussing with their companions what they had seen and heard today, as well as their longing for the treasures that might exist in this brand-new Yunshui Heavenly Palace ruin.

Their expressions were excited, making it difficult to fall asleep.

Time passed bit by bit.

It was unknown how long had passed.

Suddenly, all the light within the tall building abruptly vanished.

In the darkness, Qin Hall's voice rang out eerily.

"Oh dear, the newcomers this time aren't very obedient."

"I told you to go to bed early."

"Why are there still so many people who haven't rested yet?"

"It wouldn't be good if you delayed tomorrow morning's trial."

"Since you can't sleep, let me give you a hand."

*Puff!*

*Puff!*

*Puff!*

Hair-raising sounds rang out continuously.

No one knew how many Cultivators lost their lives without even being able to let out a single scream.

At this moment, everyone present finally understood that Qin Hall's words, "remember to go to bed early," were not a joke.

But it was already too late.

The presence of Cultivators kept disappearing from their senses.

Someone wanted to shout and scream to wake those who were already asleep.

But the sound had just started when it came to an abrupt halt.

Slaughter and death spread through the darkness.

Under this terrifying atmosphere, some Cultivators who had not yet fallen asleep finally couldn't take it anymore.

Their auras surged as they prepared to use their full power to fight the white-clothed Qin Hall to the death.

Qin Hall snorted coldly, seemingly provoked.

A blue light lit up and then immediately extinguished.

Thus, these Cultivators who wanted to resist fell silently without causing even the slightest ripple.

After killing these people, Qin Hall's mood seemed to improve slightly.

"Sigh, this job is really exhausting. If it weren't for the fact that Sect Leader Senior Martial Uncle, Senior Brothers, and Senior Sisters have all disappeared, I wouldn't have to come out myself."

"Boring, so boring. I'd rather go drink!"

Qin Hall's words were inconsistent, and his actions were completely at will.

As the voice faded into the distance, the surviving Cultivators in the building all breathed a long sigh of relief.

But no one could guarantee when Qin Hall would return.

Therefore, they all wanted to hurry up and fall asleep.

But…

Sleep is something that people with chronic insomnia surely understand deeply.

If there's no mental burden, you can fall asleep just by saying so.

Conversely, if your heart is always preoccupied with it and you force yourself to sleep…

Nine times out of ten, you will startle awake the moment you are about to fall asleep.

Furthermore, many of these Cultivators were already used to replacing sleep with secluded Cultivation.

They had seemingly lost the ability to sleep.

Thus, even knowing they would die if they didn't sleep, many Cultivators still couldn't manage to fall asleep.

Seeing that the life-taking Qin Hall could return at any time, these people had no choice.

They secretly regretted not learning a hypnotic Spell or two before coming, so they chose to knock themselves unconscious, hoping to slip through.

Unfortunately, in Qin Hall's eyes, falling asleep and being unconscious were clearly two different concepts.

Thus, in the latter half of the night, when Qin Hall returned…

It was another wave of blood and gore.

The next morning, when Li Fan woke up…

What he saw were corpses all over the floor of the building.

That Jiao Xiuyuan, as Li Fan had expected, failed to pass this stage.

His head was separated from his body, lying there quietly.

Naturally, Li Fan felt no pity for him.

Without delay, Li Fan headed straight for yesterday's square.

With yesterday's lesson, the Cultivators didn't wander off elsewhere and obediently gathered in the square.

The crowd was sparse; the surviving Cultivators were less than two-thirds of yesterday's number.

Before the trial had even officially begun, there were already so many casualties.

The survivors were very pessimistic about what was to come, their expressions dejected.

Li Fan knew that this was only the beginning.

Ultimately, less than one-tenth of this first batch of Cultivators to enter the Yunshui Heavenly Palace would leave alive.

In the crowd, Li Fan also saw the figures of Si Kongyi and Hundred Mile Chen.

He just glanced past them, his gaze not lingering.

He waited quietly for Qin Hall to arrive.

Not long after, Qin Hall appeared before everyone again.

He held a wine gourd in his hand, walking while taking large gulps from it.

"Good wine! Good wine!"

Qin Hall shouted with delight before looking at the surviving Cultivators in the square.

"Good, it seems everyone is here."

"Then, we shall officially begin the first trial."

His eyes narrowed slightly, as if he were recalling something.

"Master once said that in seeking immortality and the Dao, three things are most critical."

"Talent, Heart-Nature, and Luck."

"Master believed that among these three, talent is the most important."

"I, however, disagree."

"I believe that among the three, Heart-Nature is the most important."

"So the three trials I have arranged are all related to Heart-Nature."

Qin Hall spoke slowly as he led everyone to a pavilion.

The pavilion had three floors.

On the first floor where everyone stood, over a hundred bookshelves were placed.

Each bookshelf was filled with books.

Everyone focused their gaze.

Flying Cloud Illusion Book, Flying Lightning Escape, Green Wood Spring Return Technique…

Every single book was unexpectedly a Cultivation Technique.

Everyone's breathing suddenly became hurried.
