Chapter 837: Treasure Hunting
Among the Divine Ranks, even a Heavenly Divine Artifact is extremely rare, let alone an Innate Supreme Treasure or a Chaos Supreme Treasure.
As for the higher-level Heavenly Dao Divine Weapons and Wuji Divine Weapons, they are even more exceptionally rare.
Legend has it that the most powerful Wuji Divine Weapons are only held by a few Heavenly Venerable Saints, which is also the reliance they use to stand above all gods.
For instance, Yang Jian's Three-Pointed Double-Edged Spear was originally just an Acquired Supreme Treasure. Later, after being re-refined and undergoing Fusion with an Innate treasure, it was promoted to an Innate Supreme Treasure. This was also an important factor in Yang Jian's ability to make a name for himself in the Divine Realm.
Owning a good Divine Artifact can even narrow the gap between cultivation levels.
“Master, where is your Lingxi Zen Staff?”
Namo asked impatiently.
Ru Lai: “How should I know where it is!”
Namo was stunned.
If you don't know, then why did you… Empress Shenji giggled and said, “Back then, this Old bald donkey was hunted down by several Divine Venerables. In his frantic escape, he even lost his Physical Body. How could he still know where his Magic Treasure is? Speaking of which, Old bald donkey, your Opportunity was truly quite good to actually possess an Innate Supreme Treasure. If I had such a treasure back then, I wouldn't have ended up in such a state!”
Ru Lai said coldly, “Even if you had an Innate Supreme Treasure, could you have escaped that Great Calamity?”
Empress Shenji was suddenly at a loss for words.
That was a Great Purge personally carried out by the Three Pure Ones; who could have escaped it?
Forget having an Innate Supreme Treasure—even a Chaos Supreme Treasure or a Heavenly Dao Divine Weapon would have been useless!
In that light, she was actually quite lucky; it was better than having even one's Divine Soul dissipate.
Ru Lai said indifferently, “Although this old monk was being hunted at the time, I tore through the Boundary membrane and threw the Lingxi Zen Staff into some corner of the Divine Realm. I have nurtured this treasure for many years, so I still have some connection to it. By performing a Divine Ability now, I should be able to retrieve it.”
The fire of hope in Namo's eyes was rekindled, his eyes flashing with excitement: “In that case, Master, please hurry and perform your Divine Ability!”
Up until now, forget an Innate Supreme Treasure, he hadn't even seen a Low Grade Divine Artifact.
As soon as Namo finished speaking, control of his body was transferred, and a faint golden light flickered in his eyes.
“Namo Amitabha…”
Ru Lai pressed his hands together with a snap. Suddenly, densely packed, intertwined golden silk threads were pulled from his palms and violently cast into the air.
These golden silk threads immediately seemed to receive some sort of guidance, shooting automatically into the Void Realm and then pinning themselves to various spots within the void.
As Ru Lai formed more and more hand Seals, the golden silk threads in the air became increasingly complex. Specks of golden light slowly lit up, gradually setting the entire space ablaze with light.
“Taking this much effort just to break a Boundary membrane… Old bald donkey, you really have aged. You're useless in every way!”
Empress Shenji mocked him again.
Ru Lai was so angry he nearly spat blood: “If this old monk weren't left with only a Divine Soul, a mere Boundary membrane could be broken with a wave of my hand! Besides, I have to search for the traces of the Lingxi Zen Staff. If you're so capable, you do it!”
Empress Shenji just found him unpleasant to look at. In truth, she also knew that with their current Divine Soul bodies, they were barely at the level of Mid-to-Upper Gods. Trying to break a Boundary membrane was indeed no easy task; she couldn't do it either!
Seeing that Empress Shenji had stopped talking, Ru Lai focused on continuing his spellcasting.
With a humming sound,
the entire golden divine net vibrated violently. All the golden threads burned away in an instant, and a complex Divine rune appeared, silently slicing open the space. A massive black hole appeared before Ru Lai.
“Found it!”
Ru Lai closed his eyes to sense it, then opened them with a smile. A golden light membrane like an eggshell appeared around him, and he stepped directly inside.
However, he failed to notice that before the Boundary membrane closed, another figure followed closely behind and entered the black hole with him.
——
A blood-red moon hung high, illuminating the desolate land below.
In the Void Realm, a rift was suddenly sliced open, and Namo walked out with a solemn, dignified expression.
“What place is this?”
Namo's voice rang out: “It doesn't seem to be the Immortal Realm?”
“Of course it's not the Immortal Realm!”
Empress Shenji said with a chuckle, “That Great Calamity back then shattered the Divine Realm and split it into countless fragments. This is just a separate domain formed by one of those fragments. Old bald donkey, are you sure it's here?”
Ru Lai's gaze fell upon the land illuminated by the red moon below. As his Divine Thought swept over it, he frowned: “It should be here, but why is my Divine Thought being blocked? Could there be other existences here?”
At this point, Ru Lai himself was startled.
During the Great Calamity of the past, the gods fell, and it was highly likely they were scattered to different places.
It wouldn't be strange if other deities or divine ruins appeared here.
Empress Shenji also sent out her Divine Thought to sweep the area and was similarly stunned. Like Ru Lai, her Divine Thought was isolated and could not penetrate very far.
The ground below was empty; forget mountains, there wasn't even a single large rock!
What a bizarre place!
Just as the three of them were feeling uncertain, several white shadows flashed briefly at the end of the distant horizon. Though they were very fast, they were still caught by the three of them.
“What was that?”
Namo felt his skin crawl; he felt that something was wrong with this place.
It couldn't really be another place where some deity was sleeping or Sealed, could it?
He now had a psychological shadow regarding such eerie places.
He already had too many tenants in his body; there was no more room!
The environment here was terrible and the temperature was very low. If a Mortal were here, they would probably be frozen into an ice sculpture in a matter of moments; it was not suitable for Mortals to survive at all.
Ru Lai drove Namo's body to fly quickly toward the distance, and soon saw those white shadows floating on the horizon again.
These shadows were indistinct and elusive, flickering as if they might drift away with the wind and dissipate into the world at any moment.
“I feel like I've seen this thing somewhere before…”
Empress Shenji muttered.
Ru Lai also seemed to remember something, but he remained silent and followed quietly.
They flew for a long time until the morning glow lit up the horizon and the sun rose, yet they still found nothing. Those ethereal white shadows finally dissipated and vanished.
Ru Lai stopped and lowered his head in thought. Suddenly, he narrowed his eyes and fixed his gaze on the ground beneath his feet.
The place he sensed was definitely here, but this place was desolate and boundless. The most likely place for something strange to exist was… underground!
Action followed thought; Ru Lai unhesitatingly circulated his Buddha Power and struck a fierce palm downward at his feet.
A massive Buddha palm smashed down from the air, but to Ru Lai's astonishment, such terrifying power only blasted a hole a few feet deep into the ground.
Ru Lai inhaled sharply.
This palm strike of his could kill even a Lower God, yet it could only leave such a small mark on the ground?
He became increasingly certain that the true mystery lay beneath.
Since he had already found it, Ru Lai was naturally unwilling to give up.
As long as he retrieved his Lingxi Zen Staff, whether it was the staff itself or the savings he had left inside it back then, it would be of vital importance to his current self!
