Chapter 9: Visitors from the Immortal Realm
"Guards, guards, protect me!" King of Zhou was momentarily panicked as he looked at the murderous Bing Cheng, and he scrambled to hide behind his bed.
Dozens of black-armored palace guards immediately rushed out from all directions to surround Bing Cheng. These black-armored guards were responsible for the close protection of royal family members and were top-tier experts among Mortals.
Unfortunately, they were now facing Bing Cheng, an Immortal. They couldn't even get close to her, and even with all their martial arts skills, they couldn't put them to use.
"Didn't those guards tell you that I am an Immortal? Why are you still thinking of attacking me?" Bing Cheng did not act immediately, although she understood exactly what the King of Zhou was thinking.
But the nature of the situation was different.
If the King of Zhou just said it, then her intrusion into the palace would be justified.
"What Immortal? I see you as nothing but a demoness! Quick, what are you all standing there for? Hurry up and kill this demoness!" The King of Zhou rolled his eyes and instantly understood Bing Cheng's intention.
How could someone capable of sitting on the throne lack cunning?
However, the concubines and eunuchs nearby began to whisper among themselves.
"How could she be anything but an Immortal…"
"That's right, how could such a beautiful Immortal be a demoness?"
"Shh… keep it down, do you want to get beheaded?"
"Heh, I originally wanted to resolve this matter amicably, but it seems you have really gotten carried away, King of Zhou." Bing Cheng sneered. So he wanted to play games with her? Then she would ask him to be more careful in his next life.
"Boom!" The Spiritual Qi around Bing Cheng exploded, instantly sending all the black-armored guards surrounding her flying.
Upon seeing Bing Cheng's methods, the King of Zhou's legs went weak, and he collapsed to the floor. He truly didn't know that Immortals were this terrifying.
He had sat on the throne for a long time, but he had never truly come into contact with an Immortal. The ancestor who had been admitted into an Immortal sect had not been in touch for a long time.
Over the years, he had only used the background of the Immortal sect to wage wars, and while the Immortal sect hadn't provided any support to the Zhou Kingdom, it was enough.
Even when they lost battles, the victorious nations dared not annex the Zhou Kingdom's territory.
The King of Zhou thought that Immortals were only slightly stronger than Mortals, and he had long since dismissed the legends of their great Divine Abilities as myths.
Bing Cheng slowly walked up to the King of Zhou, the Spirit Fire sword in her hand already pressing against his neck.
Feeling the intense heat radiating from the Spirit Fire, the King of Zhou trembled in fear.
"Your Majesty!"
"Spare the King of Zhou."
The bedchamber immediately descended into chaos; some were panicked, while others were secretly rejoicing…
"If you want the King of Zhou to die, just come right ahead," Bing Cheng said coldly.
"King of Zhou, as long as you tell me where the Cultivation World is, I can spare your life."
Upon hearing that he could be spared, the King of Zhou immediately spoke up.
"In the sky, the Cultivation World is in the sky." As he spoke, he pointed to the sky outside the main hall.
Bing Cheng was stunned upon hearing this. In the sky? How was that possible? It wasn't scientific. But then she thought about it; she had already experienced Transmigration into a Cultivation World, so what was the point of talking about science?
"How do I get up there?" She brought the Spirit Fire sword a little closer to the King of Zhou's neck.
"A Jade Talisman, we can use the Jade Talisman to contact our great-grandfather." A portion of the King of Zhou's neck had already been scorched, and he was yelping in pain.
"Hurry, go get the Jade Talisman for the Immortal."
In reality, he was still harboring malicious intent; as long as he could contact his great-grandfather and have him descend, he would surely be able to kill this woman.
Soon, a palace maid presented an exquisite nanmu wood box, and Bing Cheng opened it.
Inside, there was a jade ruyi and a pale blue crystal.
"What is this?" Bing Cheng pointed at the pale blue crystal. The jade ruyi was definitely for communication, but this crystal had a certain attraction for her.
"This… this is a Spirit Stone. The Jade Talisman needs to consume the Spiritual Qi inside the Spirit Stone to contact our great-grandfather," the King of Zhou explained hurriedly.
"Then start. I advise you not to play any tricks." Bing Cheng took the Spirit Fire sword away and pushed the wooden box in front of the King of Zhou.
The King of Zhou obediently touched the Spirit Stone to the jade ruyi, and he saw wisps of Spiritual Qi flowing from the Spirit Stone into the jade ruyi.
The jade ruyi emitted a faint light, and after a while, a voice came from within it.
"Didn't I tell you? Don't contact me about anything other than national extinction?" The voice sounded very young; if one didn't know this was their great-grandfather, one would have thought it was a young man.
The King of Zhou shuddered. He glanced at Bing Cheng again, and seeing that she still had a cold expression, he said hurriedly.
"Great-grandfather, another Immortal has appeared in our Zhou Kingdom?"
"Oh? Is it a descendant of the Zhou family?" The person on the other end became interested upon hearing this.
"No… no, it's a commoner."
"Understood. Someone will go to the palace to pick her up tomorrow morning. Is there anything else?" The person on the other end immediately lost interest upon hearing this.
"Great-grandfather, that Spirit Stone is almost used up."
"I know!" The person on the other end said impatiently, and then there was no further response. The jade ruyi also returned to its ordinary state.
Bing Cheng looked at it. Wasn't this thing just a telephone? It could actually facilitate communication between Immortals and Mortals. What was the medium? The Spiritual Qi of heaven and earth?
It was very likely.
"Immortal, you heard it too. Tomorrow morning, an envoy from the Immortal Realm will descend to pick you up." The King of Zhou still couldn't stand up.
Tomorrow morning? It wouldn't be long to wait. She would spend the night here in the palace today.
"Fine, arrange a room for me. I won't attack you again." Bing Cheng said indifferently to the King of Zhou, while simultaneously dispelling the Spirit Fire that wrapped around her body.
"Is Shopkeeper Chen still alive?" She thought of the shopkeeper who had taken her in. Although Shopkeeper Chen had his own motives, he had treated her quite well, and that matter at the time was not something he could have intervened in.
"He is still alive… Immortal, do you wish to see him?" The King of Zhou said tremblingly.
"No, release him, reward him with some silver, and let him return to a normal life." Bing Cheng thought about it. It was time to end this Karma. She wasn't afraid of the King of Zhou killing him; since cultivators could return to the Mortal Realm at any time, she should be able to as well.
"I will strictly follow the Immortal's instructions." The King of Zhou hurriedly agreed to this matter.
Only then did a eunuch go to help the King of Zhou up, and another eunuch led Bing Cheng to a bedchamber.
"The royal family is truly wealthy." Bing Cheng remarked while observing the environment of the bedchamber; a single bedchamber must have been over a hundred square meters.
"Immortal, do you require any food?" The accompanying eunuch asked.
"Then bring one of everything the palace has to eat." Bing Cheng said immediately upon hearing this. She had been starving yesterday; now that there was food, she might as well eat it.
"This…" The eunuch was a bit troubled.
"Hmm? Do you think an Immortal cannot finish it?" Bing Cheng glared at the eunuch.
"Understood!" The eunuch replied and went down to prepare.
That night, Bing Cheng only slept until early morning before waking up. She couldn't fall back asleep afterward, probably because she was going to the Cultivation World tomorrow.
In the end, she Cultivated until dawn.
Just as a hint of white appeared in the east.
"Child of the Zhou family? Where is that cultivator?" This voice was not loud, but everyone inside the palace heard it clearly.
Bing Cheng opened her eyes, thinking to herself, so it has come.
Arriving in front of the main palace hall, Bing Cheng saw the King of Zhou and his offspring all kneeling on the ground.
In the air, there was a middle-aged man with the bearing of an Immortal, standing on a sword, hovering in the sky. Although his face was very ordinary, he looked like a master.
Is this what a powerful cultivator is like?
This cultivator discovered Bing Cheng the moment she appeared. He just slightly raised his palm.
Bing Cheng felt as if her body was being controlled, and she began to levitate toward that cultivator.
"Not bad, this world hasn't seen anyone with a Spiritual Root for over twenty years." The cultivator gave his assessment after sizing up Bing Cheng.
