Chapter 92: A Grain of Rice’s Light
Over the past three months in Jue Ming Valley, the righteous and demonic factions had engaged in numerous battles. However, whenever Cultivators from both sides saw Wang Lin, they would immediately stop fighting, make way for him, and then resume their conflict after he had passed.
After paying respects to his parents, Wang Lin's mind was no longer in Chaos. He found a cliff, dug out a cave, sat cross-legged inside, and fell into deep thought.
First, there was the spiritual energy in his body. Although his previous spiritual energy also possessed the ability to freeze, it was far inferior to the power displayed by his spiritual energy recently. Wang Lin was extremely puzzled by this, and even Situ Nan couldn't find an answer.
From this, it was evident that the Extreme, Dao, and Prime realms had vanished in Level Six Cultivation Countries.
The sudden increase in the spiritual energy's power gave Wang Lin a boost of confidence. As he felt the spiritual energy within him, a strange feeling arose: it seemed as if his spiritual energy had gained something extra.
It seemed that this spiritual energy contained some mysterious substance, and it was precisely because of the existence of this substance that its power had suddenly increased.
He hadn't noticed it before because the content of this substance in the spiritual energy was extremely low, but now, its content had suddenly increased.
As soon as this thought arose, it spread uncontrollably. Wang Lin furrowed his brow, concentrated, and looked inward. The spiritual energy in his body, starting from his Dantian, circulated through all his Meridians before returning to his Dantian, repeating this cycle endlessly.
As he observed, Wang Lin gradually discovered some clues. The color of his spiritual energy had turned dark blue, but this dark blue was not the original color of the spiritual energy; instead, it was composed of countless dark blue filaments.
These dense filaments were the reason for the spiritual energy's mutation. Wang Lin waved his right hand, and a stream of spiritual energy emanated from his palm, forming a fist-sized blue ice ball in mid-air. Inside it were countless dense dark blue filaments.
After a brief contemplation, Wang Lin grabbed at the air, a solemn expression on his face. Slowly, the ice ball gradually shrank. With every bit it shrank, a large amount of sweat dripped from Wang Lin's forehead.
Just as it had shrunk by about one-third, a portion of the filaments within the ice ball suddenly collapsed and dissipated. Immediately after, many other filaments, seemingly unable to withstand the compression, also collapsed and vanished.
Wang Lin frowned and once again sent out a stream of spiritual energy, infusing it into the ice ball to replenish the number of filaments, continuing the refinement. As time passed, Wang Lin had already sent out several streams of spiritual energy, each time with most of them dissipating, leaving only a small amount.
But under this continuous influx of spiritual energy, the rate at which the filaments within the ice ball dissipated gradually couldn't keep up with Wang Lin's frequency of re-injecting spiritual energy. Finally, after several hours, the refinement was complete.
Although Wang Lin looked exhausted, his eyes were bright and piercing.
The ice ball had shrunk to the size of a grain of rice, and its color was no longer dark blue but had turned cyan. This cyan grain of rice was completely filled with filaments, and faint dangerous auras emanated from within it.
Wang Lin's eyes flickered. Grabbing the grain of rice from a distance, he leaped out of the cave. After a brief pause in mid-air, he flew directly towards the nearest dense forest. Standing outside the forest, he waved his right hand, and the grain of rice immediately flew out, striking a large tree.
At the same time, a faint cyan light flickered, but immediately, the large tree turned into ice crystals. A dark blue ripple suddenly appeared. Wang Lin's expression changed, and without a word, he quickly retreated. In almost the blink of an eye, an area of three hundred zhang became a world of blue.
Within three hundred zhang, whether trees, flowers, insects, or even small underground worms—in short, all living matter—died at this moment.
Even Wang Lin himself was swept by the blue halo, his body instantly stiffening, and a chill spread from his feet. Fortunately, the spiritual energy in his body shared the same origin, and after slowly fusing with it, he regained his movement.
His face was uncertain as Wang Lin looked at the scene before him. He didn't know if he would have been safe and sound if he had been directly hit by that cyan grain of rice, placing him at the center of the blue ripple.
One must know that the cyan grain of rice was made by compressing his own spiritual energy and specifically refining the filaments within it. If compared, its quality was probably not on the same level at all.
"This cyan grain of rice is the best Magic Treasure," Wang Lin murmured to himself.
After standing silently for a while, Wang Lin turned and left. Returning to the cave, he once again sent out a stream of spiritual energy, spending a great deal of time to finally obtain another cyan grain of rice.
Looking at this inconspicuous grain of rice, Wang Lin took a deep breath and carefully put it away. Waves of weakness surged through his body. Making one was already somewhat strenuous; now, making a second, his spiritual energy was clearly insufficient.
Although this grain of rice was powerful, its creation consumed too much spiritual energy. Wang Lin gave a bitter smile, drank a mouthful of icy dew, and meditated to replenish his spiritual energy. By the time night fell, Wang Lin opened his eyes, his spiritual energy having recovered by seventy to eighty percent.
His eyes flickered, and without another word, he once again sent out spiritual energy, concentrating on refining.
Three days later, three cyan grains of rice floated before Wang Lin. His expression was solemn; three grains were his limit. It wasn't that he hadn't tried to make a fourth, but for some unknown reason, every time the fourth was refined, one of the previous three would immediately dissipate. After several attempts, Wang Lin gave up on making a fourth.
After three days of observation, although the power of these grains was great, they were still slightly insufficient for Nascent Soul Stage experts and could not achieve a satisfactory effect.
If he could throw dozens of grains at once, he would naturally be assured of victory. Unfortunately, Wang Lin couldn't produce a fourth grain no matter what. After much thought, an idea came to Wang Lin's mind: to fuse several grains together. This way, the power would surely multiply, and more importantly, if three could become one, then he should be able to make more, right?
Thinking of this, Wang Lin hesitated for a moment. He arranged some simple defensive Formations with broken stones around him, then activated several defensive jade talismans he had obtained from others' Storage Pouches. After doing all this, he gritted his teeth, composed himself, and controlled two grains of rice to slowly move closer to each other.
At this moment, Wang Lin's heart was in his throat. He was ready to flee immediately if things went south. Slowly, the two grains of rice finally touched.
At that instant, Wang Lin had an illusion that time seemed to have frozen, lingering at the moment the two grains collided.
But immediately after, the two grains of rice silently merged together without causing the slightest ripple. Apart from a slightly darker color, the exterior of the grain showed no other changes.
Wang Lin was startled. After a brief pause, he controlled the other grain of rice and made it collide.
At the moment of impact, a faint cyan light flashed. Wang Lin's expression changed instantly, and without a word, he used a teleportation. His body flashed with blue light and disappeared from the spot. The instant he vanished, a cyan halo followed, and an area of a thousand zhang immediately became a world of ice and snow.
A thousand zhang away, Wang Lin reappeared. Although he was beyond the halo's range, standing there, Wang Lin could still feel the chill penetrating his body from his feet.
Looking at everything before him, Wang Lin fell silent. Although the teleportation was used once, Wang Lin believed it was worth it. It seemed that fusing two grains was the limit; if there were three, they would immediately self-destruct.
The cave was clearly inaccessible now. Wang Lin gave a bitter smile, found another cliff, and after digging out a massive stone Immortal Cave, he walked inside.
After spending several days replenishing all three grains, Wang Lin skillfully controlled them to fuse. After fusing one, Wang Lin successfully refined a fourth grain of rice, which also confirmed his previous conjecture: three was the limit, but if they were fused into one, it would only count as one.
The third grain of rice fused with the fourth. Finally, in Wang Lin's Storage Pouch, he carefully placed three grains of rice, two of which were darker in color.
After completely organizing the grains of rice, more than a month had passed, and there wasn't much time left until the Seal of Jue Ming Valley opened.
Wang Lin sat cross-legged, and after a brief period of breathing, he opened his eyes and exhaled a green light. The small green sword hummed, floating before Wang Lin, its body shimmering with light, as if sentient. Wang Lin reached out, and the Flying Sword landed in his palm. He touched the sword's body; it was chillingly cold.
The small green sword was an item refined with his blood. The mutation of Wang Lin's spiritual energy also indirectly caused the Flying Sword to acquire the Extreme attribute.
Just as he was about to refine the Flying Sword again with his mutated spiritual energy, Wang Lin's expression suddenly changed. His Divine Sense immediately detected that outside the Immortal Cave, about a hundred sword lights were flying from all directions towards this spot, seemingly chasing someone.
Wang Lin's face turned frosty, and he muttered to himself, "Is it him?"
