Chu Qi

The private jet landed smoothly within Li Qingzi’s private estate. An exceptionally long runway had been deliberately left here, even twice as long as the public airports in some places, all to ensure safety.

Bai Cangshu swirled his glass of red wine and looked through the window at this nation controlled by financial conglomerates. Obscured by the wineglass, his eyes appeared crimson and sinister.

"Tsk, it really is a tiny country."

The plane had a full service staff. The interpreter who had accompanied Li Qingzi to Northern Myanmar before looked displeased upon hearing Bai Cangshu’s words, but seeing that Miss Li showed no reaction and remained seated beside him, she did not dare speak.

After getting off the plane, returning to familiar ground allowed Li Qingzi to relax slightly. But when she thought of Bai Cangshu being with her as well, her eyelids lowered. Too many things had already happened beyond her control.

She had no choice. She could only take things one step at a time.

A middle-aged man dressed in an exquisite black suit was waiting in the estate. He was a director of the March Group and could be considered part of Li Qingzi’s faction, specifically managing various internal affairs of the group for her.

The moment he saw Li Qingzi, he immediately came forward and concisely reported the changes within the group.

The Supernatural Ability User situation could no longer be concealed, and the March Group had begun taking measures in response. Li Xianhou, the head of the group, had personally declared that the March Group would enter the field of advanced biological research, selecting Li Qingzi’s father to personally oversee the establishment of that department.

Li Qingzi remained expressionless, her presence exceptional. One person after another reported on their work, while she briefly divided and handled the matters, reallocating resources according to their urgency and importance.

At only twenty-four, she had acquired substantial shares in what had originally been the group’s most important smart-device sector. What she relied on was not merely Li Xianhou’s favoritism and the cruel abilities unique to Reincarnators.

Or rather, the reason Li Xianhou favored her eldest granddaughter so greatly was precisely because she possessed that kind of ability!

Walking behind them, Bai Cangshu listened to those people chattering away in their own language. He had not obtained the space’s Permanence: Language Comprehension ability, so he could not understand them for the time being.

Yet merely from their posture, the contractions of their hearts, and the movements of their brows and eyes, he could glean a great deal of information.

For instance, the first man who had come over to report kept glancing at him inconspicuously. His heartbeat and breathing rhythm had both changed.

The man cared greatly about him.

Or rather, that was probably why he followed Li Qingzi so devotedly.

Tsk.

He boredly looked away. This kind of self-righteous love always made him feel bored.

The more a man obediently followed behind a woman like that, the less likely he was to ever reach her heart.

"Hey, woman. I’m tired. Arrange a room for me."

He spoke to Li Qingzi, interrupting their conversation.

Li Qingzi remained expressionless, but inwardly she let out a sigh of relief. She was glad that Bai Cangshu had not called her "little slave girl" or something even more unpleasant, like "slave."

"Take this gentleman to rest in the estate. Go to Seoul and hire a Chinese chef to cook for him."

After considering it, she added,

"Arrange Mr. Bai’s room in the one with the best surroundings!"

Her old butler immediately nodded and turned to make the arrangements. Several people led Bai Cangshu away, and Bai Cangshu did not do anything more frightening.

He was remarkably calm.

Li Qingzi vaguely felt that he was brewing something. Perhaps it was the new mission that was about to begin, or perhaps he was suppressing his killing intent toward Xu Zhiyu.

But no matter what, she had gained a chance to catch her breath.

Her most urgent priority now was to meet her grandfather and seize control of that so-called advanced biotechnology department.

After resting for a day, Bai Cangshu received another prompt from the space the next day. He would be deployed in one day.

After Li Qingzi returned to the space, she used her connections to learn that many gatherings and teams were sweeping up supplies in the Slum Area, as well as various healing abilities and Special Items such as Scapegoat Strawmans.

All signs indicated that many Reincarnators believed the space was about to initiate a new large-scale, high-risk deployment.

So-called large-scale, high-risk deployments were massive deployments that occurred once or several times every few mission cycles.

More than dozens, sometimes even hundreds, of Reincarnators would be deployed simultaneously into a concentrated special world.

Those worlds were extraordinarily difficult, and their death rates far exceeded those of ordinary missions.

Yet at the same time, such missions offered extremely high rewards. Among the Reincarnators who emerged alive from nearly every one of them, someone would rapidly rise to prominence, using the gains from that world to swiftly climb the ranks.

It was like the moment before a storm arrived, when dark clouds had already gathered in the sky and the air had grown damp.

Reincarnators were like ants. They had already caught the scent of those signs and were constantly preparing for dangers that might come.

Bai Cangshu remained utterly composed, lying beside the estate’s pool, basking in the sun and eating the expensive fruit of this country.

The Goddess’s hint, the Heart Demon’s information, and Luoxi’s commission—every piece of information seemed to be converging, hinting at what would happen in his next mission.

The situation was quite strange, as though fate had already decreed it. Before events arrived, many people had already reacted.

Bai Cangshu boredly watched the white clouds overhead. He felt as if he were at the center of a storm. That strange Strong Luck and these seemingly fated arrangements—

They all highlighted just how special and unusual he was.

Bai Cangshu thought again of where it had all begun: his friend who had suddenly died.

Before dying, Chu Qi had handed that thing over to him, then died in a busy downtown area.

Everything seemed perfectly reasonable.

But that was only after he became a Reincarnator!

If he had not become a Reincarnator, then after Chu Qi, a Reincarnator, died, Chu Qi’s existence should have been erased, and he should have forgotten him.

Then when Song Xian came to investigate him and asked whether he remembered Chu Qi, that was a loophole.

Or rather, Song Xian could only use that question to determine whether he was a Reincarnator.

But in fact, he had not been a Reincarnator at the time, yet he could still remember Chu Qi. And Song Xian had not suspected him of being a Reincarnator because of it.

Then there was only one answer: when Song Xian found him, Chu Qi had not died at all!

Moreover, Song Xian knew that as well.

That made things interesting. Chu Qi, who had not died, had given that Great Sin Card to him, while Song Xian, who clearly should have known Chu Qi was alive, did not know that Chu Qi had given him the card.

The two seemed to be collaborators, yet they did not share information.

"Tsk, Chu Qi, Chu Qi… where exactly are you hiding…"

Bai Cangshu murmured the name of his former friend. He felt that if he wanted to uncover the mysteries surrounding himself, perhaps finding Chu Qi was the only viable solution.

The question was, how should he go about it?

Bai Cangshu tapped the back of his lounge chair. Ripples spread across the pool in circles, like rolling waves.

Suddenly, he thought of the special department Li Qingzi had mentioned. Perhaps he truly should have a force that could exist openly.
