Danzō’s Heart Disease (2/5)
Chapter 295: Danzō’s Heart Disease (25)
"So this is Konoha? It really is prosperous and lively."
Walking through Konoha’s commercial district, Karin finally could not help but sigh in admiration.
For a world ravaged by war, Konoha Village in the Land of Fire could indeed be called a rare paradise.
Aside from the Nine-Tails’ Rampage over a decade ago, it had suffered almost no serious destruction. Coupled with its advantageous location, its agriculture, livestock farming, and handicrafts were all exceptionally developed, while merchants and travelers from every direction came and went without end.
Haku, who had been temporarily dragged along to make up the numbers, nodded lightly in agreement. "Yeah! Compared to the poverty elsewhere, Konoha can practically be called heaven."
"Heaven? You wouldn’t think so if you knew about the political darkness and filthy deals hidden behind this illusion of prosperity." Allen sneered mockingly.
Clearly, they had all entered Konoha disguised as Sound Ninja. Officially, they were here to participate in the Chunin Exam; in reality, they were here to ensure the Konoha Collapse Plan went smoothly.
"Do you hate Konoha?" Haku asked uncertainly.
Allen gently shook his head. "No. I just hate those two hypocritical old dogs, the Third Hokage and Danzō. During this Konoha Collapse operation, I’ll get rid of both of them. Consider it my final gift to this village before I leave. Find somewhere to stay first. I’m going to see Danzō and see if I can leave a Flying Thunder God Technique formula on him."
Without question, compared to the Third Hokage out in the open, Danzō, lurking in the darkness, was the harder one to deal with.
Moreover, the old man’s sense of danger was extremely sharp. The moment he sensed someone intended to assassinate him, his first reaction would not be to confront them head-on. Instead, he would hide in a secret safe house and only emerge again after the danger had passed.
It was precisely this extreme caution that had allowed him to survive crisis after crisis.
Otherwise, given how the Root Organization made enemies on all sides, Danzō would have died countless times already.
If everyone who wanted him dead gathered together, they could probably form a line stretching from one end of Konoha to the other.
After presenting his identification and code phrase, Allen was quickly led by a Root Organization ninja to a Secret Base deep underground.
The moment Danzō, who had been waiting for some time, saw him, he immediately asked, "How is Orochimaru’s plan progressing?"
"Everything is going smoothly! The Sand Ninja’s war weapon Jinchuriki has already arrived in Konoha. Once we launch the operation, everyone will definitely be in for a huge surprise. But there was one small accident! Orochimaru killed the Fourth Kazekage, disguised himself as him, and plans to personally assassinate the Third Hokage."
Allen laid out everything he knew without holding anything back.
In his eyes, Danzō was already a dead man. There was no need to keep secrets from the dead.
"What? He killed the Fourth Kazekage? That means the Sand Ninja are now completely under Orochimaru’s control."
Danzō abruptly rose from his chair upon hearing the news.
To him, this was tremendous good news.
If the Fourth Kazekage’s death were exposed, he could use Root’s power to force the chaotic Sand Ninja into accepting a series of extremely harsh terms, perhaps even demand that they become Konoha’s vassal for a long time.
That would bring unimaginable benefits, whether for raising his personal prestige or for governing after becoming Hokage.
However, Danzō soon calmed down and asked in deep confusion, "Why would Orochimaru kill the Fourth Kazekage? It shouldn’t benefit him at all!"
"Because of Impure World Reincarnation! Orochimaru restored the forbidden technique invented by the Second Hokage! He has now mastered a method to summon powerful people back from the Pure Land." Allen gave the answer without hesitation.
"Impure World Reincarnation?!!!!!!"
Upon hearing those words, Danzō’s pupils suddenly dilated, and even his breathing grew rapid.
After all, he had personally been the Second Hokage’s disciple. He understood very clearly what that technique meant.
Several full minutes passed before he commanded in an unquestionable tone, "No matter the cost! Get that technique from Orochimaru! Remember! At any cost!"
"Understood!" Allen nodded with a serious expression.
"Besides that, you must ensure Orochimaru’s operation to assassinate the Third succeeds. If necessary, you may even act personally." Danzō continued in an impatient tone.
The closer the final date for the Konoha Collapse Plan drew, the more tense his nerves became.
You must know, he and the Third Hokage had fought each other for nearly their entire lives, and he had lost far more often than he had won.
The position of Hokage in particular had become something like a curse, an obsession gnawing at his heart.
Whenever he felt he was only one step away from becoming Hokage, some unexpected development would always occur, causing everything to fall apart in the end.
But this time, Danzō did not want to wait any longer. No matter what, he had to succeed.
Sensing the emotional instability Danzō had inadvertently revealed, Allen’s lips curled slightly in a mocking smile. Lowering his head, he promised, "Please rest assured! The Third Hokage will definitely die this time! No one can save his life, because his fate was decided long ago."
"Hmm! I believe in your abilities! Now, continue carrying out your mission. Once the Third is dead, I’ll give you a gift—a precious gift you would never expect." Danzō raised a hand and stroked his right eye, which was covered in bandages.
Without question, the "gift" he meant was Shisui’s Mangekyo’s strongest genjutsu—Kotoamatsukami.
Hmph! You want to control me with genjutsu? You’re thinking too highly of yourself!
Allen had practically detected Danzō’s intentions in an instant. A faint, chilling glint flashed in his eyes before he turned and disappeared into the darkness.
Just as he left the underground Secret Base, Four-Tails, who had remained silent the entire time, suddenly spoke. "Be careful of that man called Danzō! His eye and arm made me feel two disgusting powers!"
"Oh? You’re finally willing to communicate with me?" Allen stopped walking, surprise in his tone.
"Although I dislike you, I acknowledge that you are qualified to become a Jinchuriki and use my power," Four-Tails explained on its own initiative.
"Qualified? You really are an arrogant idiot. Haven’t you noticed that your Chakra has been constantly leaking away?" Vilnalasath suddenly cut in.
"Who are you? Where are you?"
Four-Tails had never expected there to be another consciousness inside Allen’s body, and it was instantly shocked beyond measure.
"Stupid ape! Your reaction is truly slow. My name is Vilnalasath! The necklace around Master’s neck is one of my Incarnations." The Red Dragon casually introduced herself.
"Ah! I remember now! Whenever he devours other ninjas, he calls your name, and you change your form as well."
Four-Tails exclaimed in sudden realization, its tone filled with intense curiosity.
It desperately wanted to know just what secrets were hidden inside the human body it currently inhabited.
Especially those Nen abilities that coexisted with Chakra…
