Delinquent Boy
Coulson had not failed to suspect that Li Feng was still hiding some Gravity Wells, but the things could be round one moment and flat the next. He simply had no evidence to accuse Li Feng of embezzlement.
More importantly, a voice in Coulson’s heart told him that keeping the Gravity Wells within S.H.I.E.L.D. was too dangerous. It would be better to let Li Feng take more of them. That way, even if S.H.I.E.L.D. caused some disaster, the harm would be far less.
Especially when Coulson considered reporting his concerns to Fury, that self-persuading voice became particularly clear.
Moreover, Coulson had a vague feeling that the moment he tattled, Li Feng would know.
By then, petty Li Feng would probably pester him every day until he was driven mad.
After thinking it over for a long time, Coulson ultimately chose to keep quiet. But was Fury’s favor really so easy to take?
Just as Li Feng beamed at the Gravity Wells in the container and prepared to extinguish the Fiendfyre before heading home to wash up and sleep, Coulson pulled the excited Li Feng aside and whispered, "Fury agreed to give you half the Gravity Wells. Don’t you think you owe Fury a favor?"
"A favor?" Li Feng said with a half-smile. "What favor? He just knows I can contact alien civilizations and wants to buy some alien technology from me. Let me make this clear first: I don’t know what kind of technology I can get. If it has nothing to do with weapons and is just magic skills or civilian technology, don’t blame me."
Coulson nodded indifferently. "As long as it’s technology, S.H.I.E.L.D. needs it. Even if it’s equipment that makes food from trace elements in water and air, we’ll take it."
Li Feng scratched his head. "That sounds like equipment used to make liquid food on spaceships. Does that count as simple technology?" After a pause, Li Feng pointed toward Ian Quinn’s home. "Once I put out the fire, I’ll leave directly. No need to prepare dinner for me."
"We weren’t preparing dinner for you anyway," Coulson said irritably.
Speaking of food, Coulson was certain that Li Feng had starved to death in his previous life.
How long had this guy even been in the Air Command? He had already ravaged all the liquor in the wine cabinet and every kind of food on the plane.
Anything he thought tasted good went into his stomach. Anything he thought tasted bad went into the trash, specifically the non-recyclable trash.
Especially whenever he saw Li Feng pairing all kinds of alcohol with sandwiches or instant noodles, Coulson felt an inexplicable sadness, along with concern that the plane’s food reserves might be insufficient.
This guy was the greatest menace on earth.
Rubbing his forehead, Coulson, who had been hoping Li Feng and Skye would grow closer, suppressed his helplessness and smiled gently. "Are you leaving without saying goodbye to Skye?"
Li Feng thought for a moment, then waved his hand. "Forget it. It’s not like we’re parting forever. Please tell her I’m going on a long trip soon, and that she can come play at my house in a few days when she has time."
A long trip? Coulson’s eyes lit up. As he wondered whether Li Feng was going out to buy alien technology or hiding at home to study the Gravity Wells, Li Feng opened the cabin door, rode Dark Cloud, and brazenly rolled around in the sky before landing to extinguish the Fiendfyre.
Fine. He could only ask again in a few days.
Coulson thought helplessly.
Back at the lakeside, Li Feng eagerly hid inside the motorhome to study the Gravity Wells.
Of course, Li Feng was not studying how to install the Gravity Wells on the motorhome. He knew his limits. His knowledge barely qualified him as a poor student; he simply had no idea how to turn a motorhome into a spaceship.
Besides, according to his future plans, he would definitely go to Xandar. When that time came, couldn’t he just pay someone to modify the motorhome? Why waste his brain trying to figure out a spaceship himself? It was thankless work, unless he had nothing better to do.
So Li Feng was only studying ways to use gravity to temper his physical condition.
It was not because Li Feng had nothing better to do after eating his fill and wanted to become a Super Saiyan. He simply knew that his physical condition had long become the greatest weakness limiting his rise in strength.
He might dare to challenge anything after putting up a shield, but once the shield failed or his Mana ran out, he was merely a useless Mage at the mercy of others.
And in the future, no one would use ordinary guns and cannons anymore. Only energy weapons would be mainstream.
By then, maintaining his shield would consume even more Mana.
If he carelessly exhausted his Mana, was he supposed to rely on his chicken-like physique to fight enemies in close combat?
Without exceptional stamina, forget a prolonged battle—he would not even have the strength to run away.
Determined not to be a real man for only three seconds, but a master of infinite stamina, Li Feng carefully studied the Gravity Wells before directly carving a gravity array inside the motorhome, allowing himself to eat and sleep under three times Earth’s gravity at all times.
However, after enjoying several days of gravity training, Li Feng staggered out of the motorhome on trembling legs and collapsed gloomily onto a recliner. As Kreacher gave him a full-body massage, he frowned at the Gravity Well constantly moving across his palm as if it were alive.
The method of using Gravity Wells to train his body was vastly different from what Li Feng had initially imagined. Especially without any corresponding scientific training methods, relying solely on gravity to train was not only ineffective but also agonizing.
He even inexplicably felt that his tall frame had been compressed by gravity into a short, ugly little runt.
They said all concentrated things were essence, but Li Feng had no desire to be compressed into a ball by gravity.
And if he relied solely on the Gravity Wells for training, when would he ever be able to withstand guns and cannons with his body like Thor?
Probably only after a lifetime of training.
Li Feng was deeply unwilling to accept this, yet there was nothing he could do. Especially when he recalled how protagonists in all sorts of comics and sci-fi movies became superhuman in minutes through gravity training, while he had not only failed to become superhuman but had also put himself in danger.
Li Feng was so troubled that he was nearly developing resentment.
After a long while, with the help of the special-effects masseur Kreacher, Li Feng felt his muscles relax considerably.
But only his muscles had relaxed. As for his heart, it was nothing but tears.
I’ll ask Thor about ways to train physical fitness when I meet him later. For now, I should find an Otherworld to relax in.
Smacking his lips, Li Feng, whose brows seemed paralyzed, said weakly, "Kreacher, pack our luggage. We’re going on a long trip."
"Yes, Boss," Kreacher said with a hint of excitement, knowing they were about to travel between worlds again.
Before long, Kreacher dragged a suitcase behind Li Feng as they arrived in the desert.
After master and servant crossed the Transdimensional Portal and arrived in a back alley somewhere in the Otherworld, Li Feng heard a young girl questioning someone in the distance.
"Why am I the only one who can see you?"
Just as Li Feng looked in the direction of the voice, a blond delinquent boy in a hood with tattoos on his arms asked in return, "I want to ask you the same question."
Li Feng scratched his head. He sensed unusual energy fluctuations from both people, but he did not recognize either of them.
What world is this? After thinking it over, Li Feng turned invisible and slowly approached them, deciding to learn more from them.
Before Li Feng could get close, the girl took several steps back as if she were afraid of the delinquent boy. Looking flustered, she said, "I don’t even know why I’m talking to you. You’re a killer, a cold-blooded killer—"
Before she could finish, the delinquent boy retorted disdainfully, "Are there any peaceful, loving killers these days?"
The girl shook her head slightly and said firmly, "I know what I saw. I saw you kill someone in the bar with my own eyes, yet it was like no one else could see you."
"Do you think you understand what you saw?" The delinquent boy pointed at the girl with his left hand. Just as he was about to say something, the girl grabbed the hand pointing at her.
The girl glanced at the strange symbol on the delinquent boy’s arm, then nervously pulled out a sheet of white paper from her pocket. Pointing at the same symbol drawn on the paper, she asked, "Why did I draw this?"
The delinquent boy looked at the girl, took the paper, lowered his head to examine it for several moments, then said, "Looks like I was right. You’re not mortal."
Not mortal? Am I some kind of monster, then? The girl looked at the delinquent boy as though he were an idiot and asked, "Sorry, but what does ‘mortal’ mean to you?"
The delinquent boy ignored her look and explained on his own, "Mortals are ordinary humans of the mortal world."
What kind of explanation was that?
"I’m not an ordinary human?" The girl felt like she had been angered into laughter. Rolling her eyes, she said, "Then what am I?"
The delinquent boy did not answer her. Instead, he pointed at the symbol on the paper and asked calmly, "When did you start drawing this symbol?"
The girl felt that she had run into a lunatic who could not communicate properly with anyone. In exasperation, she snatched back the paper and pointed at the symbol as she shouted, "I’m asking you! Why am I drawing this? Answer my question!"
At that moment, the girl’s phone suddenly rang. The delinquent boy calmly glanced at her pocket and said, "You should answer it. Maybe it’s your boyfriend calling. It’s noisy."
"I don’t have a boyfriend," the girl retorted weakly, but she made no move to answer the phone.
Seeing the ringtone continue without stopping, the delinquent boy said calmly, "Answer it first."
At the critical moment when she was about to learn why she had been drawing mysterious symbols for no reason, the girl had no mood to answer a phone call. But the delinquent boy repeatedly insisted that she do so, leaving her no choice but to sigh helplessly. After glancing at the caller ID, she said impatiently, "Mom, I’ll be right back—"
Before the girl could finish, the sound of a scuffle came through the phone, followed by the anxious and uneasy voice of a woman.
"No, no, no, you can’t come home. Call Luke and tell him Valentine is alive. He found me."
After saying "I love you," the middle-aged woman hurriedly hung up, leaving the girl utterly bewildered.
The girl listened blankly to the busy tone on her phone. Sensing that something terrible had happened at home, she had no time to ask the delinquent boy what the symbol was about and immediately ran toward home.
