Demon Gods Descend

At the insect race’s headquarters, Knull, who had changed bodies but looked no different from before, sneered at Commander-in-Chief Hela. "Hela, your Fortress Bug tactic has failed."

Hela sneered. "I failed, and the insect race suffered heavy losses. You’re happy about that, aren’t you?"

Annihilus glared at Knull in displeasure. Knull snorted coldly. "Of course I want you to win, but from the looks of it, Asgard’s so-called greatest commander is nothing special."

"What do you know? The war has only just begun."

Hela smiled disdainfully. "The Fortress Bugs were meant to be sacrificed. It’s a pity we didn’t lure out their god-level experts, but it doesn’t matter. I have other methods."

"Hela, Fortress Bugs are very scarce."

Annihilus said this, and Hela replied, "What does that matter? Just breed more. Today, your insect race will obtain an enormous amount of food."

As she spoke, Hela waved toward the light screen. The image abruptly changed into a devastated planet where insects ran rampant and countless lives had been reduced to food.

"That’s right. Today, we’ll obtain an enormous amount of food."

Annihilus beamed. The insect forces deployed today were divided into two armies, one overt and one covert. The overt army was responsible for attacking the Insect Extermination Alliance’s planets.

The covert army headed for indigenous planets, sealing everything off and devouring freely.

Most indigenous planets did not even possess the ability to enter space. Faced with the insect race, they could only become food. Call for help? Sorry, the signals could not get out. Some planets did not even have anyone to call for help.

Those major planets possessed Quantum Communication technology, but indigenous planets did not. Well, Earth was an exception. Thanks to Wang Bert’s efforts, Earth’s Quantum Communication technology ranked among the top three in the universe.

Hela’s move was a feint in the east while attacking in the west. To her, devouring advanced planets and devouring indigenous planets were no different. Both could maintain Universe Balance; in fact, devouring indigenous planets worked even better.

Advanced planets generally had relatively small populations. For example, Xandar had fewer than ten million people in total, while some indigenous planets had populations in the billions.

"Annihilus, after devouring the food, breed as quickly as possible."

Hela instructed, "We need an endless supply of troops. Also, find a way to breed a type of insect that can counter the Clone Corps."

"I’ll give it a try."

Annihilus nodded. The insect race possessed the ability to evolve in specific directions, but it required research. It could not be done overnight.

"Hela, how many of the souls from these planets will be given to the Demon God Alliance?"

Knull could not help asking. The Demon God Alliance had given Him so many benefits, so naturally He had to return the favor.

Hela sneered. "Why should we give them any? What effort have they contributed?"

Knull said unhappily, "You should give your allies a little incentive, shouldn’t you? Otherwise, why would they fight for you?"

"Normal allies do need that, but the Demon God Alliance is different. Even without any incentive, they’ll still obediently risk their lives for us, and they’ll work very hard at it."

Hela said, "In short, if they contribute, they get souls. If they don’t, they get nothing."

"That’s bad for relations with allies."

Knull said, "The Demon God Alliance is powerful and important."

"I know what I’m doing. Tell those ordinary demon gods to get ready. We’ll need them on the field soon."

Hela said, "Before departure, I’ll give them a batch of souls as marching pay. In addition, all souls gained in battle will belong to them."

Knull mocked, "How generous. Should we have the demon gods give you a commission?"

"A commission? That’s a great idea."

Hela looked tempted. Knull’s mouth twitched, and He said, "I’ll contact them."

"You’re actually willing to use the Demon God Alliance?"

After Knull left, Annihilus asked in surprise. It had assumed Hela would keep the Demon God Alliance in reserve.

"I won’t casually use the Four Ancient Gods, but ordinary demon gods are no problem. Even if they rebel, it’ll only take one slap."

Hela shook her head. Looking at the slaughter on the light screen, she wore an excited expression. She was the Sub-God of Death. The more death she created, the stronger she became.

Hela was not far from becoming an Ancient God.

Before anyone realized it, several hours had passed. The wars across the major planets had not ended. Instead, they had only intensified.

The good news was that no planets had fallen yet. Even the worst cases had merely seen their Space Fleets wiped out and the insect race break into their interior regions.

Skye ordered, "Shuri, send unmanned fighters to support Nas Star. They’re almost unable to hold on, and even the king has personally joined the battle."

"Leaving immediately."

Shuri nodded at once. Soon, a fleet of Vibranium fighters passed through a portal toward Nas Star. Seeing the densely packed insects below, they immediately launched missiles and bombarded them.

Seeing the insects engulfed in flames, King of Nas cheered loudly. The alliance really was dependable. It had sent reinforcements again.

Without the alliance continuously operating and constantly deploying troops, some planets would have long since been breached by the insect race.

A staff officer reminded her, "Elder Skye, seventy percent of the alliance’s forces have already been deployed. Apart from the troops at the jump points, we only have thirty percent left."

Skye stared. "There’s still thirty percent?"

The staff officer was stunned. Was Elder Skye complaining that they had too many troops?

"The insect race has far more forces than we do. Yet after fighting this long, we still have thirty percent left. That means they haven’t gone all out."

Tony said, "In order to protect as many lives as possible, we’ve sent substantial reinforcements every time."

A staff officer from the Shi’ar Empire asked, "You mean they’ll launch a surprise attack on the Frontlines?"

"No. We’re at the Frontlines, so a large army would be meaningless there."

Tony pinched the bridge of his nose and said, "The insect race has other targets."

The Shi’ar Empire’s staff officer shook his head. "How could they have other targets? In the universe, we are the insect race’s only opponent."

"The insect race’s goal is to slaughter life, not defeat the alliance."

Skye thought of something and shouted, "Crystal, check the indigenous planets in the Milky Way Galaxy. I suspect they’re the insect race’s targets."

"You mean the insect army is only tying us down, while their true targets are those indigenous planets?"

Everyone cried out in alarm. If that was true, the indigenous planets would suffer catastrophic casualties.

Even advanced planets like theirs could only barely hold back the insect race, let alone those indigenous planets. They were no match for the insect race at all.

"Most likely. Damn it, we overlooked this."

Skye said bitterly.

Everyone fell silent. A staff officer sighed. "It can’t be helped. This is the first time we’ve encountered a war where enemies can teleport everywhere."

"It isn’t just the teleportation problem. This war is different from our previous wars. In the past, wars were fought to defeat the enemy and occupy territory."

Duke Brie said from the light screen, "This war is meant to eliminate half the life in the universe, so we overlooked many things, such as the rear areas and indigenous planets."

"Even if we hadn’t overlooked them, they would have been difficult to defend. The universe is too vast, and they can teleport."

A staff officer said irritably while clutching his hair. Defense was always harder than offense, let alone across such an enormous battlefield—the Entire Universe was the battlefield.

"We can only fight while making up for our oversights. I hope we have enough time to grow."

Skye sighed. At that moment, Crystal’s heavy voice came through. "Skye, you were right."

The command room fell silent. Skye let out a breath and said, "Send over the images."

"Alright."

Crystal nodded and activated quantum transmission. Soon, a hellish scene appeared before everyone: there was not a single living person in the entire city. Countless insects gnawed on corpses in the streets and across rooftops, while blood and bones lay everywhere.

Several Staff Officers nearly vomited. Hulk’s eyes reddened as he roared, "Crystal, open a portal. I’m going over there to kill those damned insects."

"There are no living people left on that planet. Killing the insects is meaningless."

Jessica shook her head and shouted, "Crystal, Strange, quickly find indigenous planets that haven’t been breached."

"No."

Duke Brie and Grand Duchess Sarah shouted at the same time. Everyone was startled, and Skye asked, "Duke Brie, Grand Duchess Sarah, why not?"

"Because we don’t have enough troops. At a time like this, we can’t split our forces."

Duke Brie said, "Once we divide our forces, other planets could very well be breached by the insect race."

"That’s right, we can’t split our forces."

Grand Duchess Sarah said as well. Clearly, they did not care about those indigenous planets at all. They only cared about themselves.

The representatives of the other planets came to their senses and shouted one after another, "We can’t split our forces. Protecting alliance planets is more important."

Skye and the others fell silent. Were the planetary representatives wrong? No. Protecting themselves first before helping others—what was wrong with that? Those indigenous planets were not their territory. Why should they take risks to protect them? The alliance was selfish by nature. If anyone was to blame, it was that we weren’t strong enough.

Tony muttered, "If we were as strong as Bert, we could handle anything."

Wang Bert, who was filming while invisible, shook his head. He was still not strong enough. If he were strong enough, this insect disaster would never have happened.

That old bitch Death really deserved to die.

At the same time, Hela’s side discovered Crystal. Hela smiled wickedly and said, "You finally noticed? Too late. Commanders, throw the statues onto the planets below."

"Alright."

The insect commanders nodded and threw the prepared Demon God Statues toward the planets below. These Demon God Statues contained the demon gods’ divine power, so energy cannons could not destroy them. Once they entered the planets, they immediately floated in the air, filled with profundity and mystery.

"You’ve received your marching pay. Descend."

Hela shouted, "From now on, every soul on the battlefield belongs to you."

The demon gods’ breathing quickened. A planet contained quite a few souls, and the souls of the Main Universe were famously delicious and nourishing.

"Go. Demon God Alliance, officially descend upon the Main Universe."

The four Ancient Gods shouted at once. Although They could not enter the Main Universe, it did not matter, because the Main Universe had already opened a gap to the Demon God Alliance.

That gap would grow larger and larger in the future. This was only the beginning.

"We’re here."

The demon gods cheered as they descended. The statues instantly came alive and laughed loudly in the sky—the vast number of souls Hela had provided allowed the Demon God Projections to break through the Defense Net.

They were only projections. The demon gods feared death and would not easily use their true bodies.

Xandar, two statues descended from the sky. One was half-man, half-fish. He raised his trident, and the seas around Xandar suddenly turned violent. Immediately afterward, a wave hundreds of meters high rose up and surged rapidly toward a coastal city.

The other was made of flames. He pointed at the sky, and every cloud burst into blazing fire. Then the clouds transformed into fireballs and crashed down on the city below like meteorites.

Tsunamis and meteorite disasters—within a short time, two cities were completely destroyed. The two gods absorbed souls while laughing wildly. As expected, the souls of the Main Universe were the most wonderful.

"Bastards!"

Centurion Lindy and the Guardians of the Galaxy’s eyes turned red. They immediately led their fleets in a fierce barrage against the two statues. The two gods smiled disdainfully and summoned a Sea Water Giant and a Fire Giant, whose fists swept down upon the Xandar fleet with overwhelming force.

Boom, boom, boom! Three warships exploded in the air, trailing black smoke as they fell. Star-Lord was shocked and hurriedly piloted the Milano away.

"God-Devil Level! Skye, Xandar requests support."

Centurion Lindy’s heart sank as she hurriedly shouted. Skye did not answer immediately, for a simple reason: demon gods had appeared on every planet under attack.

"Damn it."

Jessica cursed and immediately prepared to head for those planets. The others did the same, but then a terrified voice came from the Frontlines. "Massive energy fluctuations are coming from the jump point."

Skye was startled and hurriedly shouted, "Frontline forces, do not attack. Withdraw immediately. This is an order. All forces, withdraw."

The army was bewildered. At that moment, more than a dozen figures appeared at the jump point. Hela, at their head, raised an eyebrow in surprise when she saw that the fleet had not attacked. "Are you planning to surrender?"

"Hela!"

Skye cursed and said, "Duke Brie, command is yours. The other god-level experts, come with me to stop Hela and the others."

The planetary representatives panicked and shouted, "Elder Skye, what about our planets?"

Skye hesitated, then said, "Carol, Hulk, Strange, Thor, Doctor Doom, Damon, the six of you will lead the Super Heroes to rescue those planets. Everyone else, come with me to fight Hela."

Though six people were few, each of them was an ultimate powerhouse. They could resolve those demon gods in the shortest possible time.

"Skye, without those six, we might not be able to stop Hela and Annihilus."

Ivan said, "Splitting our forces like this means falling into Hela’s trap."

Skye sighed. "We have no choice. If those planets fall, the alliance will fall as well. Carol, eliminate the demon gods as quickly as possible and come back to support us."

"We’ll return as soon as we can."

Carol said, "Skye, be careful."

"Don’t worry. I’m not married yet. I won’t die that easily."

Skye said no more. She led Steve, Carter, Little Hela, Mindy, and the others to teleport to the Frontlines, where they confronted Hela’s group.

Meanwhile, Carol and the others headed for the major planets. The planetary representatives also knew that matters had reached a critical point. They ordered their armies to fight to the death. No matter what, they had to hold out until the Super Heroes arrived.

Looking at Skye and the others, Hela clicked her tongue. "Why are there so few of you? Senior Sister, did you come here to die this time?"

"Last time, you relied on numbers to bully the few. Now it’s our turn."

Knull laughed loudly. This time, He would definitely avenge His humiliation.

Tony asked with a curious expression, "Excuse me, who are you? Do we know you?"
