Desert Giant Scorpion

Long Chen suddenly opened his eyes. Although the night was pitch black, he could still see a huge figure ahead, illuminated by the faint starlight.

He expanded his Soul power and used his Divine Sense to replace his eyes. When Long Chen saw the figure clearly, he could not help but gasp.

It was a behemoth, nearly three zhang long. Its two giant pincers in front were wide open like the scythes of the Grim Reaper, and a long tail stood high in the back, with its stinger pointing directly at Long Chen.

Its two eyes stared fixedly at Long Chen, clearly treating Long Chen and Little Snow as food.

"Desert Giant Scorpion."

Long Chen's heart shook violently; he recognized this desert overlord.

The Desert Giant Scorpion, also known as the Desert Mad Scorpion, was a Rank 2 Demonic Beast. However, even Rank 3 Demonic Beasts would give it a wide berth upon seeing it, for a single mistake could cost them their lives.

This was because the Desert Giant Scorpion was an extremely stealthy assassin, moving like the wind in the desert with unparalleled speed.

The desert was its territory. The soft sand, which was a death trap for others, was like water to the Desert Giant Scorpion.

Even with its massive size, the soft sand could dampen some of the sound. Combined with its six legs, it could approach its prey silently, and by the time the prey noticed, they would already be a corpse.

With its silent movement, powerful physique, violent strength, and impregnable defense, it was the absolute overlord of the desert.

However, the most terrifying thing was not these, but the huge hook on its tail. If pierced by that hook, the venom would instantly flood the enemy's body. Even a Rank 3 Demonic Beast could not withstand it and would die immediately.

The Desert Giant Scorpion was one of the very few Demonic Beasts capable of fighting beyond its rank. If it didn't only live in the desert, its reputation would be no less than Little Snow's.

Given Little Snow's keen sense of smell and reaction time, it was only discovered when it had approached within twenty-some zhang, which showed just how powerful the Desert Giant Scorpion's stealth capabilities were.

"Awoo!"

Little Snow's fur stood on end as it let out a roar, its body tensed, entering a combat state.

"Chi!"

The Desert Giant Scorpion let out a strange sound, moved all six legs at once, and pounced directly at Little Snow. Despite its massive size, it was incredibly agile, and its speed was shockingly fast. Its pair of giant pincers acted like two massive shears, snapping at Little Snow; clearly, in its eyes, the small Long Chen was directly ignored.

With a roar, Little Snow suddenly spat out a wind blade. It emerged like a crescent moon, spinning like a rapidly rotating scythe, and slashed toward the Desert Giant Scorpion with a whistling gale.

Today's Little Snow was much stronger than it had been back in the Imperial Capital. The wind blade it spat out covered a radius of a zhang, and its momentum was astonishing.

"Ding!"

To Long Chen's shock, Little Snow's powerful wind blade, which could easily kill an expert at the Blood Condensation Realm and which even an expert at the Tendon Transformation Realm would not dare ignore, struck the Desert Giant Scorpion's two giant pincers, actually producing the sound of metal colliding.

The Desert Giant Scorpion shuddered slightly, its movement slowed for a moment, then it pushed off the ground with its six legs and pounced at Little Snow again, not having suffered the slightest injury.

"What a formidable defense."

Long Chen was startled. It was truly worthy of being a desert overlord; this defense was difficult to break even for an expert at the Tendon Transformation Realm.

"Wind-Breaking Fist!"

Long Chen moved his feet, blocking in front of Little Snow before it could unleash a second wind blade, and threw a punch.

He knew that although Little Snow was also a Rank 2 Demonic Beast, such crustacean-type Demonic Beasts had an inherent advantage over fur-covered Demonic Beasts. Facing the fully armored Desert Giant Scorpion, Little Snow could not inflict effective damage.

"Boom!"

Long Chen's punch was originally aimed at the Desert Giant Scorpion's head, but the creature was extremely cunning and blocked the vital spot with its giant pincer at the critical moment. Long Chen's punch landed heavily on its pincer.

Dust flew. Long Chen's current Physical Body had reached an unbelievable level, and the Desert Giant Scorpion was smashed into the earth by Long Chen's punch.

The entire ground rippled like water.

"Not good."

Seeing the Desert Giant Scorpion disappear, Long Chen cried out in alarm and immediately leaped backward. Just as his feet left the ground, a huge tail hook drilled out of the sand, missing him. Had he been a step late, Long Chen would have been struck by that tail hook; it was extremely dangerous.

"Whoosh!"

The sandy ground shook, and the sand could be seen surging like waves.

"Little Snow, be careful! It has submerged into the ground!"

Long Chen's expression was grave. This Rank 2 Demonic Beast, the Desert Giant Scorpion, moved like the wind, had a monstrous defense, and the desert was its main battlefield. If this continued, Long Chen would be very passive.

Little Snow was a land beast and could not unleash its combat power here. The longer the delay, the more disadvantageous it was for them. If they were pierced by that tail hook, they would be finished.

He had to force it out!

Long Chen stared intently at the ground, spreading his Divine Sense to its limit, hoping to catch the Desert Giant Scorpion's tracks.

However, to Long Chen's disappointment, the Desert Giant Scorpion was like a fish in water, leaving no trace. Furthermore, Long Chen discovered that while his Divine Sense could cover a radius of a hundred zhang in the air, it could only penetrate about three feet into the sandy ground, making it almost useless.

At this moment, Long Chen finally understood why the Desert Giant Scorpion was called the desert overlord. On this main battlefield, even a Rank 3 Demonic Beast would have to drink the cup of sorrow.

"Little Snow, dodge!"

Long Chen suddenly shouted. Little Snow shared a telepathic connection with Long Chen; the moment Long Chen shouted, it had already bolted a zhang away.

"Chi!"

A tail hook emerged from the ground and then retracted. The sand returned to its original calm as if it were a water surface.

Long Chen felt frustrated. If this continued, the situation would be too disadvantageous. He and Little Snow had become living targets, a feeling that was very frustrating.

Suddenly, there was a strange movement beneath Long Chen's feet. Long Chen stepped back, and sure enough, a tail hook shot out, almost grazing Long Chen's body.

"Let's see where else you can run."

Long Chen let out a cold snort and dove headfirst into the desert, treating the desert as if it were a lake. Suddenly, a low, cold shout came from within the sandy ground:

"Alchemical Flame!"

"Boom!"

The desert within a hundred-zhang radius felt like boiling water, covered by terrifying high temperatures. A shrill cry rang out, and a huge figure leaped out from the sand.

That figure was none other than the Desert Giant Scorpion. Long Chen had released his Alchemical Flame from below, forcing it out of the ground with the power of fire.

"Roar!"

Little Snow, which had been waiting on the side, didn't hesitate. A huge wind blade flew out, striking the Desert Giant Scorpion directly.

"Pfft!"

Green liquid splashed as the Desert Giant Scorpion's defense was actually broken, and it was wounded.

Long Chen had just climbed out of the ground when he saw this scene, and he couldn't help but suddenly realize something. He had found the Desert Giant Scorpion's fatal weakness.

It turned out that when the Desert Giant Scorpion had just jumped out of the ground, Little Snow's wind blade had struck its abdomen, which was actually its softest part.

The Desert Giant Scorpion always moved close to the ground, and everything exposed was covered by a shell like metal, with a defense so powerful it was shocking.

Its fatal weakness was on its abdomen, which was extremely well-concealed. Coupled with its ability to lurk beneath the sand, this weakness was even harder to expose. This time, it had been discovered by chance by Long Chen.

With this discovery, Long Chen did not hesitate. Seeing the Desert Giant Scorpion forced to stand upright by the wind blade, exposing its weakness completely, he produced a long sword in his hand.

"Wind-Parting Slash!"

"Pfft!"

The sword light was like a rainbow, slicing open the Desert Giant Scorpion's abdomen and shredding its internal organs. Green liquid flowed everywhere, and foul-smelling fluid flew all over the sky.

Its abdomen was almost hollowed out, but the Desert Giant Scorpion did not die immediately. Its tail hook thrashed wildly in all directions; it had fallen into a frenzy.

Long Chen hurriedly retreated with Little Snow. He knew that the Desert Giant Scorpion had tenacious vitality, but having suffered such a heavy injury, it was doomed to die.

However, crustacean-type Demonic Beasts were different from other Demonic Beasts. Once they sensed death, they would lose their sanity and attack wildly until they completely died.

Therefore, it was said that crustacean-type Demonic Beasts were one of the most terrifying groups among Demonic Beasts. Even if their heads were cut off, they could survive for a period of time. During this time, they had no sanity and would attack wildly based on instinct.

Watching the tail hook fly and the giant pincers smash, stirring up dust everywhere, it took over a dozen breaths of time before it gradually ceased.

Long Chen ordered Little Snow not to approach and quietly walked toward the Desert Giant Scorpion's corpse. He stopped a few zhang away from the corpse, sensed its life aura again to confirm it had truly vanished, and only then did he approach.

"Bang!"

Long Chen slashed at the scorpion's tail with his sword. The precious sword he had seized from the white-clothed man was extremely sharp, and it actually shattered the shell at the end of the tail. With another slash, he cut off its tail hook.

The tail hook was as large as a round table, and the tip of the hook was still coated with yellow liquid; that was the Desert Giant Scorpion's venom, containing a large amount of potent toxin.

This kind of potent toxin, as long as it reached a certain amount, could kill a Rank 3 Demonic Beast. It could be said to be a very precious item.

After putting away this scorpion hook, the Desert Giant Scorpion lost all its threats. Even if it were feigning death, it could not pose any major threat to Long Chen.

Looking at the Desert Giant Scorpion's corpse, Long Chen set his sights on that pair of imposing giant pincers. Looking at their full shells, he knew the meat inside must be of real quality.

The pincer shells were the hardest part. Long Chen did not need to shatter them; he only needed to gently cut the connecting parts in the gaps of its limbs.

If the Desert Giant Scorpion were still alive, this would be an impossible task, but now that it was dead, everything became easy.

As he put away the two giant pincers that were taller than himself, Long Chen suddenly heard Little Snow let out a vigilant roar.

Long Chen hurriedly looked around, and suddenly his expression changed drastically.

He discovered that over a dozen huge figures were rapidly rushing toward him, and their speed was so fast that they would likely arrive in just a few breaths.

Oh no, the Desert Giant Scorpion was a gregarious Demonic Beast; how could I have forgotten that? Long Chen hurriedly jumped onto Little Snow's back.

"Run!"

Little Snow did not wait for Long Chen's command; it had already stretched its legs and bolted away at high speed.

However, Long Chen had still underestimated the speed of the Desert Giant Scorpions in the desert. The dozen or so Rank 2 Desert Giant Scorpions were chasing crazily, and they were actually getting closer.

If he were besieged by these dozen or so Desert Giant Scorpions, just thinking about it made Long Chen's scalp tingle. Suddenly, Long Chen spotted a light in front, and without thinking, he drove Little Snow to bolt toward that light.
