Destroyer Attacks
"Tell me, Loki, how did you bring Frost Giants into Asgard?"
At the entrance to the Bifrost, Heimdall, the gatekeeper, stared solemnly at Loki before him and questioned him.
"Do you think the Bifrost is the only way to reach Asgard?"
Loki sneered. "Asgard has many hidden paths. Even someone as gifted as you might not know them all!"
Loki would have been lying if he said he did not envy Heimdall’s gift.
A pair of eyes capable of seeing through the universe, ignoring time and space, theoretically able to observe any corner of the cosmos.
Combined with the Bifrost’s power, if Loki possessed those eyes, would he not be able to strike anywhere he wished?
Loki was exceedingly envious of Heimdall’s ability.
"Tell me what you intended to do."
Heimdall had never liked Loki. Ever since childhood, Loki had been full of lies and deceit, a sly villain. Though he possessed considerable talent for magic, he was hardly likable.
"Destroy Jotunheim!"
That was right. Loki, the dutiful son and Father’s Bane, intended to personally use the Bifrost to destroy Jotunheim and wipe out every Frost Giant.
All because he wanted to prove to his father, Odin, that he was no worse than Thor!
At the same time, if he exterminated all the Frost Giants, perhaps Odin would no longer object to him being descended from Frost Giants, allowing him to receive treatment equal to Thor’s.
Thus, he did not hesitate to scheme against and kill his own biological father, the Frost Giant King, Laufey.
To prove himself to his adoptive father, he was willing to destroy his biological father. Loki truly deserved the title Father’s Bane—he was ruthless!
"No. Absolutely not. If Odin were awake, he would never permit such a thing to happen!"
Naturally, Heimdall rejected Loki’s plan. He drew his sword, preparing to stop Loki.
"So I had to deal with the obstruction first!"
Loki gave a cold smile. A blue cube suddenly appeared in his hand, radiating a frigid aura.
The Casket of Ancient Winters, the treasure of the Frost Giant race, possessed formidable Frost Magic.
Holding the Casket of Ancient Winters, this divine weapon, Loki easily froze Heimdall into an ice statue before walking straight into the Bifrost’s hall.
"Before destroying Jotunheim, I must first eliminate every troublesome obstacle!"
Loki’s lips curled upward. Beside him appeared a towering steel giant.
The Destroyer had once been Odin’s armor, but it had since been modified into something akin to a robot. It had always guarded the treasure vault, and its power was undeniably immense. In Loki’s opinion, it was certainly stronger than the Kirin Armor Chen Mu had designed.
The only thing it could not match was that the Kirin Armor could be mass-produced, while there was only one Destroyer.
"Make sure my brother can never return to Asgard!"
Now exercising the authority of a king, Loki naturally had the right to control the Destroyer. He gave it the command, then directly activated the Bifrost and sent the Destroyer down.
Amid the Bifrost’s light, the Destroyer was transported to Earth in Midgard, to the place where Thor had previously been—New Mexico, America.
Loki had not received any information from Heimdall, so he had continued to believe that Thor was still in New Mexico.
Naturally, he had dispatched the Destroyer there to hunt down Thor.
A short while later, the Destroyer appeared outside the town. The S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel, who were currently packing their things, naturally noticed the huge machine.
"What is that thing? Some new toy Tony Stark came up with?"
Coulson looked at the massive hunk of metal with great curiosity.
He could not help thinking of a certain billionaire currently being fervently discussed throughout America, who flew through New York’s streets every day in Iron Armor. He was impossible to ignore.
"No idea, but probably not. After all, it arrived via the Bifrost."
The colleague beside him curled his lips and continued, "The Director is on the way. Let’s first see whether we can establish contact with it."
"All right, I’ll give it a try."
Coulson scratched his head, picked up a loudspeaker nearby, and prepared to approach it.
"Ahem. Hello. You are using an unauthorized weapon. Please state your identity."
Holding the loudspeaker, Coulson asked in an extremely official tone.
But it was clearly useless. Although the Destroyer stopped, bursts of red light suddenly flared through the gaps in its body.
Clearly, it was the prelude to some kind of attack.
"Run!"
Seeing this, Coulson shouted and immediately dashed to the side.
A scorching beam of fire shot from the Destroyer’s face, exploding cars one after another. In an instant, casualties mounted heavily.
"Director, the other side is hostile and has already attacked us!"
The fact that Coulson had survived for so long proved that he was quite capable. He hurriedly took cover and called Nick Fury. He had just taken the chance to fire his small pistol at the Destroyer, but it had done absolutely nothing, so he promptly abandoned such a suicidal act.
It made sense. The Destroyer had once been Odin’s armor, forged entirely from Uru metal. S.H.I.E.L.D. simply had no weapon capable of harming it.
"Hold your ground. Don’t panic. Hawkeye has already gone to support you."
Nick Fury spoke calmly. Even knowing that S.H.I.E.L.D. had suffered severe losses, his expression did not change.
To Nick Fury, the lives of those low-level agents were not particularly important. If they died, they died. At worst, he could recruit another batch.
In America, as long as you had money, there would naturally be no shortage of people willing to risk their lives for you.
If no one was willing, it only meant you were not offering enough money.
"Hawkeye?"
Hearing that, Coulson could not help letting out a sigh of relief.
With the Kirin Armor equipped, Hawkeye’s strength went without saying. Dealing with the Destroyer should not be too difficult, right?
The Destroyer walked toward the town, paying little attention to the S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel. Its primary objective was to kill Thor. Loki still believed that Thor was hiding in this town.
When it reached the edge of town and failed to find any trace of Thor, Loki, who was controlling the Destroyer, became extremely displeased. He directly commanded the Destroyer to begin gathering enormous energy in its face, intending to wipe out the entire town with a single strike.
For the Destroyer, this was not actually difficult. In the movie, it had merely been defeated for the sake of the plot; its true power had never been unleashed.
This time, with no Thor to stop it, the Destroyer easily condensed a terrifying beam of fire. With one sweeping strike, it reduced the small town before it to ashes.
"Where is Thor!"
That attack killed more than a hundred American people. It had to be said that, in this world, being American was truly a high-risk profession.
Loki’s voice came from the Destroyer. Upon hearing it, Nick Fury, who had just arrived, immediately took out his phone and called Chen Mu.
"Where is Thor? Someone is seeking revenge against him. Send him over immediately…"
Nick Fury was accustomed to speaking from a position of authority. The moment Chen Mu answered, he heard that commanding tone and hung up without another word, leaving Nick Fury staring at the busy signal with a face full of dark lines.
