Destroying the Arena
"Sorry, Blood God, Sovereign’s genetic technology is not for sale. It is our core technology."
High Priestess Ayesha rejected Wang Bert cleanly. Wang Bert shrugged and said, "What a pity. Speaking of which, you Sovereign really are impressive. Whether it’s genetic technology, energy batteries, or Quantum Communication, you’re unmatched in the universe."
Sovereign was extremely wealthy. They had made a fortune across the universe through energy batteries.
High Priestess Ayesha said arrogantly, "We Sovereign are the finest race in the Entire Universe."
"The finest race."
Looking at the numb faces around him, Wang Bert could not help shaking his head. This race had no vitality at all. Other than High Priestess Ayesha, the rest were no different from robots.
High Priestess Ayesha was the most human-like lifeform on this planet.
Noticing Wang Bert’s expression, High Priestess Ayesha asked displeasedly, "Blood God, do you look down on us?"
"No, I simply don’t agree. All right, let’s leave it at that. If we keep talking, we might end up arguing, and that would not be good, considering this is our first meeting."
Wang Bert smiled. "High Priestess Ayesha, it’s a pleasure to meet you. In my eyes, you are far more captivating than Michelle."
"I like your honesty."
High Priestess Ayesha said proudly. Michelle, standing beside her, did not dare show the slightest dissatisfaction and merely lowered her head in silence.
At that moment, a maid approached and whispered a few words to High Priestess Ayesha. High Priestess Ayesha said to Wang Bert, "Blood God, I hired the Guardians of the Galaxy under your command to deal with a Space Monster stealing batteries. Would you like to come meet them with me?"
"No need. If their boss is there, they’ll feel awkward."
Wang Bert shook his head, though inwardly he was somewhat startled. Wasn’t this the plot of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2? Had it started so soon?
It had not even been four months since Ronan’s death.
"All right."
High Priestess Ayesha instructed Michelle, "Michelle, take Blood God around our city. I think he has some misunderstandings about us."
Michelle replied respectfully, "Yes, High Priest."
"Blood God, we’ll talk again tonight."
High Priestess Ayesha nodded to Wang Bert and departed regally amid a cluster of maids.
"Being a maid for life, with no chance whatsoever to rise above it. No wonder they need Mind Calming Tree leaves to help them sleep."
Wang Bert shook his head and followed Michelle through Sovereign. Along the way, Michelle could not help asking, "Blood God, what exactly do you mean by human nature?"
"Human nature has many aspects, such as emotions and a sense of self."
Wang Bert glanced at Michelle and asked, "Besides being Sovereign’s foreign minister, who else are you?"
"Who else?"
Michelle blinked, utterly confused. "Blood God, I don’t understand your question. I have only one identity: Sovereign’s foreign minister. That is the meaning of my existence."
"If you don’t even have a sense of self, where would human nature come from?"
Wang Bert shook his head, conjured a romance novel out of thin air, and said, "Read this when you have time."
It was worth mentioning that the book was written in Xandarian script. It was currently being sold on Xandar, and its sales were quite good.
"Read a book? Do you want to teach me some knowledge?"
Michelle asked. To her, books existed solely for learning knowledge.
The cosmic forces in Marvel were all rather strange. Sovereign was actually one of the better ones. The Shi’ar Empire prohibited anything related to imagination. In that empire, displaying imagination was punishable by execution.
Therefore, that empire had no comics, no television, no novels, no game consoles—nothing at all.
That was beside the point. Hearing Michelle’s words, Wang Bert shook his head and said, "It’s only for entertainment. Read it if you have time; throw it away if you don’t. All right, where do we start our tour?"
"With the museum. We Sovereign were not always like this."
Michelle put away the novel and pointed ahead as she spoke to Wang Bert.
While Wang Bert toured Sovereign, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Hulk, and the others were preparing to deal with the Space Monster at the battery factory.
"Rocket, before coming here, I thought you were exaggerating."
Dr. Banner sighed. "I didn’t expect those women to be even more annoying than you said."
"That’s right. The way they look at us is like they’re looking at lower lifeforms."
Even Betty was a little angry. "What’s worse is that they don’t even try to hide it. They even say it outright."
Rocket spread his hands. "I told you. They’re the most obnoxious race in the Entire Universe."
A flash of green light crossed Dr. Banner’s face, and Hulk said solemnly, "I am still very angry about what happened yesterday. I might cause havoc on Sovereign."
Everyone froze, then understood what Hulk meant. Rocket burst out laughing. "Man, I support you. It can’t be helped, right?"
"Exactly. Those space pirates were just too hateful."
Star-Lord nodded repeatedly. Seeing those three troublemakers eager to stir things up, Dr. Banner shook his head and said, "Hulk, no. Bert is discussing delivery business with Sovereign. We can’t cause trouble for him."
"Boring."
Hulk curled his lips in displeasure and retreated back into Dr. Banner’s body. Gamora clapped her hands and said, "All right, stay alert. The Space Monster could appear at any time.
It definitely won’t be easy to deal with, or Sovereign would not have needed to hire us."
Star-Lord said, "Got it. Our lives aren’t worth much anyway. Let’s fight the Space Monster to the death."
Drax said honestly, "Your life isn’t worth much, but mine is very valuable."
Star-Lord asked irritably, "I’m being sarcastic, do you understand? Forget it, you definitely don’t. By the way, why aren’t you wearing our Guardians of the Galaxy uniform?"
"Don’t want to. My chest is sensitive."
Drax said while wearing leather pants and leaving his upper body bare. Everyone rolled their eyes. No one wanted to hear his private details.
Just then, a hairless monster with many tails and tentacles traveled through space and appeared out of nowhere inside the battery factory, intending to seize the energy batteries.
Gamora immediately activated an energy field, sealing the void and preventing the Space Monster from escaping again.
"Hulk is very unhappy."
Dr. Banner transformed into Hulk and punched the monster flying, slamming it viciously into the energy barrier.
The Space Monster was extremely tough. Even after taking Hulk’s punch, it was not badly hurt. It quickly climbed back up and roared furiously at Hulk.
"Take it easy. We’ll have to pay if you break anything."
Star-Lord activated his glide boots and flew into the air, then pulled the trigger on his Energy Gun. Ice and fire energy shot toward the Space Monster together.
One of the Space Monster’s tentacles lashed at Star-Lord, sending him flying.
"You have to pay if you break things, but probably not if you break yourself."
Rocket cackled and activated his modified energy cannon, firing a dense barrage at the Space Monster.
"Please focus on the fight."
Gamora sighed, hoisted an energy cannon, and began aiming. As for Drax, he grabbed two massive blades and charged forward with Hulk.
"I am Groot."
Groot thought for a moment, turned on the music player, then charged viciously into battle amid rousing background music.
Looking at Hulk in the light screen, High Priestess Ayesha asked curiously, "What kind of monster is that green one?"
An intelligence officer stepped forward and replied, "His name is Hulk. He defeated Beta Ray Bill in the Xandar War. He is a powerful Super Hero from Earth."
"How many powerful beings does Earth have? Find a way to obtain his genes."
High Priestess Ayesha sighed. "He is qualified to be our battle beast."
"Yes, High Priest."
The intelligence officer nodded, then added, "Also, according to our scans, that Earthling called Star-Lord may possess a special bloodline."
"Star-Lord?"
High Priestess Ayesha watched Star-Lord awkwardly dance to the music while fighting and said expressionlessly, "We do not need such genes. They would contaminate us."
The intelligence officer deeply agreed. "Indeed."
"I hope Hulk doesn’t get led astray by the Guardians of Awkward Dancing."
Sensing the battle at the battery factory, Wang Bert laughed speechlessly. Those fools always managed to bring joy.
"Space Monsters?"
Wang Bert thought of something and narrowed his eyes. Could he capture some Space Monsters to use as transport ships and fighters? Capturing Space Monsters was difficult for others, but for Wang Bert, it could not be easier. After all, he was the master of space.
As Wang Bert pondered, a phantom appeared out of nowhere before him. It was an effeminate old man. Michelle and the three Avenging Angels immediately watched him vigilantly.
Michelle shouted angrily, "Who are you? How dare you invade Sovereign?"
The old man could not be bothered to acknowledge Michelle. He said to Wang Bert, "Blood God, hello. I am Grandmaster, Tivan’s brother."
Wang Bert signaled for the others to remain calm and asked, "Are you here to seek revenge on me?"
"No, I am here to make a bet with you."
Grandmaster smiled. "The stakes are Tivan, the Infinity Stones, and Hulk."
Wang Bert narrowed his eyes and asked, "What if I don’t want to bet?"
Grandmaster said somewhat arrogantly, "Blood God, that is not up to you…"
"Found you. You bastards, why can’t you ever learn what respect means? I’ll bet your whole family."
Wang Bert’s expression suddenly turned cold. He raised a hand, and a portal appeared in the void. On the other side of the portal was a massive arena.
Sakaar, arena.
Grandmaster was startled and hurriedly asked, "Blood God, what do you want to do?"
"Since you care so much about brotherhood, I’ll send you to accompany your brother."
Wang Bert struck toward the portal with his palm. A Dragon God blazing with fierce flames roared out and flew straight into the portal.
Then, while rapidly expanding, the Dragon God dove viciously toward the arena below with a resonant Dragon Roar. In the blink of an eye, it had grown over a thousand meters long, majestic and imposing.
The mighty Dragon Roar made everyone in the arena look up. They stared at the Dragon God in shock. What was going on?
"Damn it, that guy really is insane."
Grandmaster was both shocked and furious. He immediately activated the defenses. A Defense Shield appeared out of nowhere, tightly protecting the arena.
The Dragon God gave a human-like, contemptuous smile in midair. Then it split into a hundred and crashed into the Defense Shield at once, exploding with a thunderous boom. The Defense Shield instantly shattered like glass.
That was not all. The flames in the sky rapidly contracted, transforming again into over a hundred flaming Dragon Gods that dove viciously downward.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Everywhere the Dragon Gods passed, explosions erupted and fierce flames ignited. The entire arena descended into chaos. The guards resisted desperately, only to be burned to ashes one after another by the Dragon Gods’ flames.
"Blood God, I will not let you go."
Seeing his arena turn into a sea of flames, Grandmaster flew into a rage. While directing guards and slaves to fight the Dragon Gods, he activated the arena’s Super Destruction Cannon, intending to blast Wang Bert, the culprit, to death.
"Stubborn fool."
Wang Bert smiled disdainfully and recalled the Dragon Gods. He rapidly cast spells like the Thousand-Hand Guanyin, and one spatial portal after another appeared around the arena, overlapping to form a perfect semicircle.
Then the semicircle slowly contracted inward. Everything in its path—walls, trees, even living beings—was crushed to pieces.
Space Magic: Circle of Death.
"No!"
The people in the arena were terrified. They frantically fled inward, not daring to confront the contracting semicircle.
Grandmaster roared and fired the Super Destruction Cannon. A massive beam of destruction slammed into the semicircle, but to Grandmaster’s despair, the beam failed to break it and instead rapidly vanished.
Moments later, an enormous beam descended from the sky and blasted toward Grandmaster. Grandmaster’s eyes widened as he desperately fled the area.
The next moment, with a thunderous boom, heaven and earth shook. The entire palace was razed to the ground, and even the earth sank dozens of meters.
"Looks like today is the day I die."
A dark-skinned, unkempt female drunk shrugged nonchalantly, turned around, grabbed the fine liquor behind her, and desperately poured it down her throat. Dying was not a big deal, but this alcohol could not be wasted.
"Blood God, do you truly intend to go to war with us Elders of the Universe?"
Grandmaster stood amid the ruins with his hair in disarray and roared at the sky. Wang Bert sneered. "It is not I who want war with you. You are the ones who want war with me. Since that is the case, I will grant your wish."
Grandmaster gritted his teeth. Looking at the approaching semicircle, he began to panic and hurriedly shouted, "Blood God, I surrender. I accept your seal."
Wang Bert did not reply. His gaze was ice-cold—he had grown tired of the Elders of the Universe.
Michelle could not help swallowing. She did not know much about the Elders of the Universe, but Blood God’s combat power was far too terrifying. Just as Grandmaster and everyone else in the arena were about to be cut apart by the semicircle, eleven extraordinary figures appeared one after another above the arena.
Then they raised their hands and unleashed various energies at the semicircle. As those energies spread, the semicircle was gradually erased.
"Great, you finally came."
Grandmaster breathed a huge sigh of relief. The arrivals were none other than the other Elders of the Universe.
There were thirteen Elders of the Universe in total. Apart from the sealed Tivan, all the rest had come.
"Looks like we still have to fight. Fine. I definitely won’t be the one who loses."
Wang Bert snorted coldly. Blinding spatial light shone from his body, including his eyes, making him look like a being made of light.
At the same time, the surrounding void trembled continuously like rippling water. Michelle retreated again and again in terror. This was far too frightening.
