Dialogue

Bruce Banner had been in China for some time now, and he had basically come to understand the situation here.

What surprised Bruce Banner most was how harmonious the relationship between the military and the people was in this country, unlike the deeply antagonistic relationship between the military and civilians in America.

In China, the relationship between civilians and soldiers was affectionately called the bond between fish and water, an inseparable connection.

In China, ordinary people could always place unconditional trust in the military. Bruce Banner had always found that strange. Why was it like this?

Now, after reading the will Lieutenant Wang Wei had written, he understood it a little better.

Chinese soldiers were true heroes, capable of sacrificing themselves for their country and their people.

Compared to the self-proclaimed Super Heroes in America, these Chinese soldiers were the ones truly worthy of the title "hero."

Heroes should not be like America’s so-called Super Heroes, who merely possessed great power, fought a few criminals, and then called themselves heroes.

These Chinese soldiers were the real heroes.

Perhaps they did not have physiques like Superman’s, nor did they possess science-fiction-like weapons.

But those who performed heroic deeds with mortal bodies were the ones truly deserving of the name hero.

"I suddenly feel that the Super Heroes in all those American comics are rather laughable."

There were comic book companies in the Marvel World, such as the neighboring DC Comics, which existed within the Marvel World. So America indeed had the concept of Super Heroes.

And now, Bruce Banner felt that the heroes in comic books did not quite live up to their names.

Having the power to do heroic things and doing heroic things despite lacking power were two entirely different concepts.

Charging into danger despite knowing it was dangerous was what heroes did.

Bruce Banner recalled the various reports he had seen before.

Earlier this year, a massive earthquake had struck China. Countless civilians had been displaced and thrown into crisis, yet Chinese soldiers had rushed in without hesitation.

They carried no weapons, only all kinds of tools, and headed resolutely to the disaster zone for rescue operations.

When the Chinese people saw the soldiers arrive, tears welled in every pair of eyes, because they knew they were seeing hope.

That was right. To the Chinese people, soldiers would forever be their support and their hope.

With mutual trust, Chinese soldiers were willing to sacrifice themselves for the people, and the people gave them unconditional trust.

As well as unconditional preferential treatment.

In all kinds of situations, China had a tradition of giving soldiers priority. That alone showed the people’s love and respect for the military.

Of course, when the forest grew large, all kinds of birds appeared. With 1.3 billion people, there would always be a few oddballs who questioned such preferential treatment for soldiers and made ridiculous remarks.

Giving soldiers priority was what they deserved.

And such a scene would never appear in America, not even if hell froze over.

"The Hulk’s power is too great. If it were used for evil, it would be an unimaginable disaster."

"Evil? Dr. Banner, perhaps you do not understand our military very well." Chen Mu shook his head with an amused smile and continued, "You will not see such evil in our military, much less among the soldiers of the God Spear Bureau."

They had all undergone several rounds of political review. Which one of them was not wholeheartedly devoted to serving the country, with patriotic hearts?

Would people like that commit crimes simply because they had become stronger?

Absolutely not.

This was something Chen Mu trusted without reservation.

"…"

Bruce Banner fell silent again. He could not refute what Chen Mu had said.

Though he had not known them for long, Bruce Banner had come to understand the character of these soldiers.

Compared with himself, these soldiers were so noble that he did not even know how to describe it.

Thus, deep down, Bruce Banner had already accepted Chen Mu’s words and accepted their decision to conduct such experiments.

"But the God Spear Bureau is already powerful enough, and China already has enough strength to protect itself. Why are you still so determined to pursue the Hulk’s power?"

This was now Dr. Banner’s only remaining doubt.

Setting everything else aside, the Kirin Armor corps alone was already capable of sweeping through the world undefeated.

They were already so powerful. Why were they still so determined to seek even more power?

"Not enough. It is still not enough. No matter how much power we have to protect our homeland, in my eyes, it will never be enough!"

Chen Mu looked at Bruce Banner calmly and continued, "This world is vast. Beyond Earth lies an even broader universe. Preparing for danger in times of peace has always been China’s ancestral teaching. That is also why China has endured for five thousand years. These are lessons learned from experience."

"Having no sword in hand and having a sword but choosing not to use it are two different things." Chen Mu poured Bruce Banner a cup of tea and said calmly, "Those were the words of one of our nation’s great scientists. I have taken them as my guiding principle."

"To you Western powers, these things may be weapons of death and symbols of formidable military strength. But to China, they are merely shields for defending our homeland—or rather, the strength to build it."

"Do you know? During the earthquake, the military suffered heavy losses. There were countless cases of soldiers sacrificing themselves to save others. They were ordinary people, most of them young men barely in their twenties, yet they gave their young lives to save their compatriots. To me, they were all heroes."

Chen Mu was exceptionally solemn as he spoke.

"As heroes, what is wrong with providing them with power?"

Whether it was the Kirin Armor or Hulk modifications, Chen Mu had never worried that granting these people great power would lead to bad results.

If they were to speak of character, these soldiers were far more like heroes than the so-called Super Heroes in America!

Would anyone worry that people like them, once they gained great power, would become reckless and lawless?

Absolutely not!

Whether it was armor or Hulk modifications, if such power were given to them, they would only use it to protect their compatriots!

"If those soldiers who went to provide disaster relief during the earthquake earlier this year had possessed the equipment they had now, or could have transformed into Hulks like Lieutenant Wang Wei at this moment, they would surely have been able to save even more people!"

In this regard, America and China were vastly different. In China, the military would always exist to protect the people.

"…"

Bruce Banner had no answer to Chen Mu’s words, yet for some reason, deep in his heart, he agreed with him.
