Dimension Lord

Ruined Universe, General Zod’s Tomb.

Zhang Ye had been meditating here for seventeen years. Ever since gaining control of the Time Twister, he had found that his understanding of "time" had quietly changed.

To creatures living within a timeline, time was an untouchable, supreme law. No one could control such a powerful force. Even with the legendary Time Stone, time remained something not to be touched lightly.

Those who toyed with time would ultimately be toyed with by time. This was the warning every Sorcerer Supreme passed down to the next generation, because humanity’s simple way of thinking could never comprehend the true meaning of the word time.

But for Zhang Ye, once he could freely travel through different universes in the Multiverse, he had unknowingly transcended the very concept of "time."

Time flowed at different rates in every universe. With Miss Minutes’s help, Zhang Ye could customize "anchors" between two universes to travel across time.

For example, if Zhang Ye set an anchor at the moment he left the All-New, All-Different Universe, then no matter how long he stayed in other universes, he could ultimately return to that predetermined anchor at the very same point in time. Simply put, he had found a small loophole in the Multiverse.

It sounded simple, but putting it into practice was exceptionally dangerous. The anchors set by Miss Minutes were like driving nails into a flowing timeline. One slip could result in multiple Zhang Yes appearing on the same timeline, or even cause an entire universe to collapse.

So before deciding to exploit this loophole, Zhang Ye had conducted meticulous calculations and preparations with Miss Minutes.

In the end, Zhang Ye still set his sights on the Ruined Universe, because it was the only universe fully recorded within the Time Twister. Even if something went terribly wrong while exploiting loopholes here, Zhang Ye could still rely on the Time Twister to solve the problem.

Zhang Ye had only one purpose in coming here: to cultivate his control over magic through prolonged meditation. To better learn magic and master this extraordinary power he had never encountered before, Zhang Ye had also brought along John, the vampire wizard.

Originally, Zhang Ye had intended to bring the witch Linda as well. But after her direct superior took one look at Zhang Ye and exploded, she had refused to have any contact with him whatsoever and directly thrown Zhang Ye and the others out of her home. Zhang Ye had no choice but to let it go.

Over these seventeen-odd years, neither Zhang Ye nor John had changed much. As one who lived long, John could survive for a very long time as long as he had blood, while Zhang Ye, as the controller of the Time Twister, had become someone upon whose body "time" could leave no trace.

Zhang Ye had not known this at first. It was only after he began training in magic under John’s guidance that he discovered in astonishment that enormous energy existed within his body. Under its influence, he was like a radiation source, warding off the erosion of time.

Zhang Ye was currently unsure what effects this radiation source had beyond granting him immortality. He wondered whether this power could help extend the lives of others, and he had tried to control it with his magic, but every attempt had failed.

Whether his magic was insufficient or he simply could not yet control this power, Zhang Ye did not know. In any case, when it came to such an unknown thing, he only tested the waters. He did not dare conduct too many experiments, afraid of creating an uncontrollable danger.

As for the vampire John, after Zhang Ye had instantly brought him to another universe, he had completely submitted and made his obedience clear. To him, Zhang Ye’s power had utterly surpassed anything he could imagine.

Though Zhang Ye looked like an utterly ordinary human, John could not muster even the slightest thought of resistance when looking at him.

The reason was simple. To make John serve him wholeheartedly, Zhang Ye had revealed a little information to him, such as the fact that they were now in another parallel universe.

As a result, John now looked at Zhang Ye the way he would look at Mephisto, the Lord of the Crimson Realm, or Dormammu.

After gaining control over a parallel universe, Zhang Ye was not much different from a true Dimension Lord. If there was any difference between them, it was perhaps only that Zhang Ye lacked their overwhelming strength.

Whether it was Mephisto, who ruled over the countless demons of the Hell Dimension, or Dormammu, who governed the Dark Dimension, they both possessed terrifying power beyond ordinary comprehension. At the same time, they could draw upon the energy of their entire dimensions to invade other dimensions.

One could say that these beings drew their power from the dimensions they controlled, just as all of Odin’s divine power came from Asgard. So long as Asgard did not perish, Odin’s Odin Force would be inexhaustible.

Odin’s power needed no explanation. He had once banished the Heavenly Realm and the Angel race into the void, and he had also fought Galactus at the height of his power to a draw.

Dormammu, lord of the Dark Dimension, had experiences similar to Odin’s. Dormammu had originally been nothing more than a Black Wizard. After being exiled to the Dark Dimension, he abandoned his physical body in order to control the immense energy there, transforming himself into a mysterious entity carrying terrifying dark energy.

Perhaps that explained why the servants of the Great Old Ones had died instantly the moment they came into contact with Zhang Ye. In a certain sense, or perhaps conceptually, Zhang Ye stood on the same level as Shuma-Gorath, a true Great Old One.

But that was only a guess. Zhang Ye himself did not think so. He was not convinced that a demon from another dimension would choose death merely for looking directly at him. There had to be a deeper secret behind it.

And those secrets were far beyond what Zhang Ye could investigate at the moment. For him, quickly mastering the use and casting of magic was what mattered.

Fortunately, after seventeen years of training, Zhang Ye was no longer the man he had once been. Perhaps he could not compare to a wizard like Doctor Strange, who had studied an unknown number of forbidden grimoires, but Zhang Ye was confident that his proficiency with magic was no worse than that of ordinary wizards.

Slowly opening his eyes, Zhang Ye raised a hand. A gray force instantly surged forth and gathered in his palm.

"John, how long have we been here?"

"Six thousand four hundred and eleven days, my lord." Hearing Zhang Ye’s words, John immediately flashed to his side and answered with his head lowered.

"So long already… It is time to go back." Zhang Ye murmured. It was easy to lose track of time while practicing magic, especially when he could feel his magic growing every moment. It was easy to become hopelessly immersed in the pursuit of power.

Fortunately, with John, his "loyal servant," looking after him, Zhang Ye had not found these long years too dreary.

John silently kept his head lowered and did not answer. As an observer, he had the most to say about the speed at which Zhang Ye’s strength had grown. Just one year after arriving here, John had realized he could no longer teach Zhang Ye anything. Over the years that followed, he had gradually grown accustomed to being a servant, tending to Zhang Ye’s daily needs.

And John himself was more than happy to sample fresh blood from another universe.
