#312
Doctor, You’re a Clone Substitute
Clap, clap, clap…
As Dr. Parkin applauded, two assistants pushed in a medical cart.
It was covered with a white sheet, concealing the instruments beneath.
"Allow me to introduce the greatest biological research of this century."
As he spoke, Dr. Parkin tore away the sheet, revealing four glass containers.
Inside them, strange liquid submerged creatures resembling crabs. Their surfaces were pale yellow, yet they were clearly not any life-form known to mankind.
If Allen had been present, he would have immediately recognized them as Facehuggers.
"You should feel honored to be the first batch of host mothers." When Dr. Parkin looked at the Facehuggers, his gaze was full of tenderness, as though he were looking at his own children.
Barbara and the others wore disgusted expressions.
Sure enough, mad scientists were about the same as lunatics. If anything, lunatics seemed a little more normal.
Dr. Parkin explained excitedly, "Obviously, you’ve already guessed that they’re extraterrestrial organisms. Using the technology humanity currently possesses, we genetically modified them again and successfully created a new artificial species. I call them Cleaners, meant to cleanse the world of surplus people who don’t deserve to live."
Cleanse surplus people!
Judging by his unstable mental state, probably ninety-nine percent of humanity fell within his cleanup range.
By comparison, the criminals they usually fought were not even worthy of carrying his shoes.
"Let me think. Who should be parasitized first?"
Dr. Parkin’s eyes swept over the Birds of Prey. Not only were they physically healthy, but they were also exceptionally perfect hosts.
Bang!
The wall collapsed.
Suddenly, the thick concrete wall was smashed open by an external force.
A metal crate came flying in, carrying two figures.
One of them flipped through the air and landed.
"We are the nemeses of crime, the embodiments of justice—the Powerpuff Girls!"
Allen brushed back his hair and said with calm confidence, "Sisters, I’m late."
"…"
This guy was so flamboyant!
Barbara and the others felt no joy at being rescued. Instead, they felt a faint sense of embarrassment.
Dr. Parkin quickly retreated behind his men. His balding head poked out as he demanded nervously, "Who are you?"
"Old man, haven’t you heard of the Powerpuff Girls?"
Stroking his chin, Allen asked in puzzlement, "That shouldn’t be possible. It’s an American capitalist product. It’s kind of sad for someone your age not to have watched cartoons."
"Who watches childish things like that?" Dr. Parkin retorted angrily.
He had been born into a wealthy family and received an elite education from childhood. How could he possibly have been exposed to such nutritionally empty nonsense?
However, Allen’s attention was on the four women. He comforted them, "Don’t be afraid, sisters. Did that old pervert kidnap you because he wanted to do something shameful?"
"Allen, he wants to parasitize us with those things."
Barbara pursed her lips and pointed at the Facehuggers in the containers.
"Hiss… Yangcheng Lake hairy crabs!"
Allen sucked in a sharp breath and said in shock, "He really is perverted enough. Even I never thought of playing like that."
"Kill him."
Seeing the unhinged intruder, Dr. Parkin immediately ordered his men to open fire.
Several heavily armed subordinates raised their guns and locked onto Allen.
In an instant, muzzle flashes erupted as a barrage of bullets poured forth.
"I dodge, I roll, I circle around…"
Allen twisted, turned, and leapt aside from the incoming bullets without showing the slightest strain.
His displayed agility left Dr. Parkin dumbfounded. He could not believe a human could accomplish such a feat unless that person was a speed-focused superhero.
Bang, bang, bang…
As he shifted and moved, Allen rapidly closed in on them.
With fists and kicks, Allen effortlessly sent eight soldiers flying.
"Heh heh heh…"
Allen looked at Dr. Parkin and the two remaining assistants, a sinister smile appearing on his face as though a supervillain had finally claimed victory.
"Watch out!"
Harley shouted a warning.
Allen abruptly turned around.
The eight soldiers had risen to their feet again.
At that moment, they removed their helmets and revealed their true faces.
They had pale, cold-blooded faces and completely hairless heads. Most terrifying of all, their mouths split into four petal-like sections like chrysanthemums, lined with sharp teeth.
"Bio-Zombies?"
Allen often roamed around in 3D. Though he had never watched the Resident Evil movies, he had seen quite a few of their 3D spinoffs.
In particular, Allen had often studied, frame by frame, the 3D short videos starring Agent Ada Wong and policewoman Jill, repeatedly examining the character models.
Roar!!!
The zombies charged at him with roars.
Dr. Berlin, hiding nearby, now wore an expression of complete confidence.
The bio-warriors were Umbrella Corporation’s latest independent research achievement.
They could no longer be considered human. They felt neither fatigue nor pain, and as long as they did not suffer fatal injuries, they could fight endlessly. They were practically perfect killing machines.
It was only because they violated ethical and moral principles that they had not been put on the market and sold to countries for warfare.
Shing!
A flash of steel appeared.
Like a streak of silver slicing through the air.
The horrifying zombies froze in place, and in the next moment, their bodies split into several sections.
Allen shook the blood from his Butcher Knife, tucked it back beneath his armpit, and said casually, "You should feel honored to die by the hand of the Number One Swordsman of Mobei."
That scene truly shocked the Birds of Prey.
His asylum-gown appearance and lunatic demeanor were incredibly deceptive. At the very least, none of them could have taken even one strike from that blade.
Seizing the opportunity, Harley immediately freed her companions.
Only Black Canary Dinah remained unconscious due to the drug.
"Don’t come any closer!"
Dr. Berlin shoved his assistants in front of him, no longer displaying any of his earlier arrogance.
"This has nothing to do with me. I’m only an employee."
"I’m a victim too. Umbrella Corporation forced me to do all this."
The two assistants pleaded as they pulled Dr. Berlin and shoved him back to the front.
Smack!
Allen planted a foot on his face and snarled, "Old bastard, did you bully my sisters? Our Beast Team sounds like trouble just from the name. You’re in deep shit now, got it?"
"Sir, I know I was wrong."
Dr. Berlin did not forget to invoke the force behind him as a threat. "If something happens to me, Umbrella Corporation will never let you go."
"They won’t let me go?"
Allen mocked him with a sleazy grin. "You really think highly of yourself. Would Umbrella Corporation be so bored that they’d avenge a clone?"
"…"
Dr. Berlin stared blankly at him, completely at a loss.
"Umbrella Corporation specializes in bio-viruses, but its cloning technology is actually the most advanced. In truth, the entire upper management is hiding in the Doomsday Fortress in hibernation, waiting for the new world to arrive. The management left outside are all their own clones."
Allen smiled brightly as he presented a reasonable argument. "The experimental materials you use are all clones mass-produced by the Clone Factory. Don’t tell me you’ve never seen them."
"I…"
For a moment, Dr. Berlin fell into deep self-doubt. He truly had seen clones being manufactured like pork in a processing plant.
Given Umbrella Corporation’s nature, he really might have been a clone from who knew how many generations ago.
