Doom’s Graduation Project
"Odin, that old fellow, occasionally did something good after all."
Hearing Loki’s words, Wang Bert smiled. "All right, it’s settled, then. I’ll have Tony and the others cooperate with you."
"They don’t need to cooperate too much. I don’t care how many Dark Elves or Frost Giants die."
Loki said, "Also, don’t tell Thor that I’m an undercover agent. He’s an idiot and too likely to give the game away."
"You just want Thor to hunt you down in a rage, don’t you?"
Wang Bert mocked. Shaking his head, he informed Tony and Steve of the matter privately. After discussing it, the two chose to agree.
Wang Bert looked at the Aether inside the Tesseract, his eyes flickering. Loki could not be fully trusted; he still needed to leave himself a backup plan.
"Aether, I have a wish."
Wang Bert said to the Aether, "In exchange for not devouring you, I want two conditions."
The Aether suddenly shook and flew about wildly inside the Tesseract, seeming quite angry—Are you threatening me?
Wang Bert smiled faintly. "Yes, I am threatening you. I think my threat carries considerable weight."
After baring its fangs and claws at Wang Bert for a while, the Aether settled back down. Wang Bert knew that meant it had agreed.
"First condition: whenever I wish, I can summon you back at any time."
Wang Bert said, "Second condition: I will merge a ball of blood into your particles. You must ensure that no one discovers that blood, and you must be able to send me messages at any time."
The Aether flashed, accepting Wang Bert’s terms.
Wang Bert nodded in satisfaction and merged a ball of blood into the Aether. Then, with a thought, he switched places with his projection.
More than ten minutes later, the Aether suddenly flew out of the void. Immediately afterward, Malekith’s grief-stricken voice rang out, "Algrim, fulfill the great cause of us Dark Elves."
Algrim did not answer, because Elektra had already cut off his head. In fact, the Cursed Warriors had been completely wiped out.
"Malekith and Ebony Maw lost too?"
The dark alliance fell into utter despair. Their final hope was gone.
Loki suddenly appeared in the air, and the Aether flew straight into her body. She turned and smiled at Thor. "Foolish brother, we’ll fight again next time."
"Loki, don’t run!"
Thor hurled his hammer at Loki with all his strength. Loki smiled disdainfully as a beam of light descended from the sky and carried her into a Dagger Battleship.
Loki ordered, "Dark Elves, Chitauri, retreat to the Clock Tower over there. I’ll activate the Magic Array and take you off Earth."
"No, we can’t retreat! We have to complete the plan!"
A Dark Elf roared. Loki directly flung out an ice spike and killed him, then shouted coldly, "We’ve already lost. The most important thing now is preserving our strength. What are you waiting for? Do you want the Dark Elves to be exterminated?"
"Retreat."
The remaining Dark Elves exchanged glances and chose to obey Loki’s order, fleeing toward the Clock Tower.
Seeing the Dark Elves flee, the Chitauri immediately followed. As for the Frost Giants and Fire Giants, they had long since been annihilated.
"Stop them! Don’t let them escape!"
Tony and Steve immediately led their armies in pursuit. Soon, more than a dozen Dagger Battleships fled to the Clock Tower. Loki activated the Magic Array, and all the Dagger Battleships vanished.
"Loki!"
The Chitauri following behind were furious and alarmed. Loki had actually used them as cannon fodder to cover the retreat.
Unfortunately, the Chitauri did not understand magic and had no idea how to escape. Steve, Tony, and the others sneered as they closed in, surrounding the Chitauri from all sides.
Half an hour later, the Chitauri army had been completely wiped out. Humanity cheered in unison. They had won this battle, and won it decisively.
Let us turn back time. In Kamar-Taj’s subsidiary dimension, under the efforts of the mages, demon corpses lay everywhere and blood flowed like rivers. Yet the demons seemed endless and continued charging madly.
"They clearly want to exhaust our magic power."
Wang Bert said to Ancient One, "Our greatest weakness is that we have too few people and no reserves."
Ancient One said, "Their resolve this time is immense. It seems they have a special trump card."
Wang Bert asked, "Master, why don’t you use the Time Stone to take a look ahead of time?"
"Time has begun rejecting me."
Ancient One sighed. "Unless it is a critical moment, I will not use the Time Stone again."
"The Time Stone is rejecting you? Master, the Infinity Stones are just objects. Do you really have to cater to its mood?"
Wang Bert was thoroughly confused. His Space Stone had always been perfectly obedient.
"It is not the Time Stone rejecting me. It is time rejecting me."
Ancient One explained, "Time does not like being spied upon. No one can possess the Time Stone forever."
Wang Bert said, "That sounds a little mystical."
"Every Infinity Stone is extraordinary. Bert, there is no need for you to set your sights on the other Infinity Stones. Focus on absorbing the Space Stone."
Ancient One said, "Such an opportunity is what others can only dream of. Once you completely absorb the Space Stone, you will become part of the universe. As long as the universe does not perish, you will not die."
Wang Bert said, "All right. From now on, I’ll focus on absorbing the Space Stone."
Ancient One nodded in satisfaction. She ordered, "We cannot keep fighting like this. Doom, Mordo, you two, make your move."
"Fine."
Doom and Mordo nodded at the same time. Mordo pointed forward and drew over a thousand demons into his Mirror Dimension.
Mordo had specially modified this Mirror Dimension. No one else could enter it or see inside it.
The moment the demons entered the Mirror Dimension, they saw more than a thousand Voodoo Corpses closing in on them. They were instantly shocked. Wasn’t Kamar-Taj supposed to be a righteous and prestigious sect? Why had a necromancer appeared?
As long as the goal is right, the process does not matter. Unfortunately, the world is too ignorant, so no one can be allowed to know about this.
Mordo thought silently. It was worth mentioning that corpses killed by the Voodoo Corpses would become new Voodoo Corpses. That was why he did not mind injecting the Voodoo Corpses with the death-version Extremis Virus.
Seeing Mordo pull over a thousand demons into the Mirror Dimension, Doom smiled. "Let me show you my graduation project, the perfect crystallization of biotechnology and magic."
All the mages looked over curiously. They all wanted to know what Doom’s graduation project was. Doom did not waste words. He rapidly cast a spell with both hands, creating a spatial Magic Array ahead. Then, a large number of cockroaches the size of baby fists emerged from the array and quickly crawled toward the Hell Demons.
"Cockroaches?"
The mages were greatly stunned. Kaecilius sneered, "Doom, your graduation project was just making cockroaches bigger?"
"Idiot."
Doom smiled disdainfully, not even bothering to explain. Kaecilius gritted his teeth in fury. This guy was truly unbearable.
Soon, the Cockroach Army met the demon army. The demons looked down on the cockroaches and raised their feet to stomp on them viciously.
The cockroaches flapped their wings and nimbly evaded the demons’ huge feet before slamming fiercely into them.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Dense explosions rang out one after another. Though the cockroaches were not large, their explosive power far exceeded that of grenades. Vast numbers of demons were blown to pieces.
The Hell commanders were shocked and immediately ordered, "Flame Demons, destroy these cockroaches."
"Yes."
The Flame Demons immediately stepped forward and released flames to burn the Cockroach Army.
But to the demons’ astonishment, these cockroaches were not afraid of fire. Moreover, their vitality was incredibly tenacious. Even when beaten half to death, they could still charge forward and slam viciously into demons.
"Why do you think I chose cockroaches as the explosive carriers? Their vitality is far beyond imagination."
Doom sneered. As for their fire resistance, that was even simpler—the modified Extremis Virus.
As more and more cockroaches poured out, the demons suffered disastrous losses. The demon commanders finally could not hold back any longer and personally took action, using magic to slaughter large numbers of Explosion Cockroaches.
Doom smiled disdainfully and raised a hand. From the mountain-like piles of demon corpses, countless Explosion Cockroaches suddenly emerged and flew madly toward the demons.
These cockroaches could actually feed on demon corpses and reproduce at astonishing speed.
Even the fearless demons were terrified and fled backward. There was no helping it—the Explosion Cockroaches were simply too numerous, like an insect plague descending upon them. They even blotted out the sky.
"Don’t retreat! Kill them!"
Several commanders roared on the Frontlines. At that moment, the Cockroach Army arrived, and the commanders were quickly blown apart without even bones left behind.
The Hell Lords’ expressions became incomparably ugly. Doom had actually created so many cockroaches right under Their noses. This was a blatant slap in Their faces.
"From the very beginning, my Explosion Cockroaches have been working tirelessly. The more of you die, the more cockroaches I have."
Doom laughed loudly. "Hell Lords, with me, Doom, here, you can forget about setting foot on Earth."
The Hell Lords gritted Their teeth. Earth had gained another guardian.
"Doom, well done."
Wang Bert applauded loudly. Doom was Doom indeed; he had not disappointed him. These Explosion Cockroaches were absolutely heaven-defying weapons of war.
Unlike Wang Bert, the mages wore rather complicated expressions. There was joy, but also doubt and disgust—the Explosion Cockroaches had clearly used Black Magic, otherwise they could not have grown so quickly.
At Kamar-Taj, using Black Magic was a major taboo.
Strange did not care whether Black Magic had been used. Looking at the Explosion Cockroaches, his scalp tingled. This bastard is way too powerful. Can I really get revenge? Maybe I should just pretend nothing ever happened?
Kaecilius shouted righteously, "Mordo, Doom is using Black Magic. Aren’t you going to do anything?"
"If anyone deals with it, it will be after the battle. Causing trouble now, Kaecilius, are you a spy sent by the demons?"
Mordo looked at him with contempt. How had he never noticed Kaecilius was this stupid before?
Then again, he had been just as stupid in the past, so naturally he had not noticed. But now he had become smarter, while Kaecilius was still stuck where he was.
Kaecilius nearly died of rage. He could not understand it at all. With Mordo’s personality of hating evil with a vengeance, how could he remain so calm?
Kaecilius secretly sighed. Kamar-Taj is becoming more and more unfamiliar.
Doom coldly glanced at Kaecilius and slowly said, "This battle is my graduation examination. Once the war ends, I will leave Kamar-Taj immediately."
The mages heaved great sighs of relief upon hearing that. None of them wanted to stay with the great Demon King Doom.
Ancient One said, "All right, we can discuss anything else later. Deal with these demons first."
"Yes, Sorcerer Supreme."
The mages nodded one after another. Taking advantage of the demon army being tied down by the Explosion Cockroaches, they unleashed magic wildly to kill enemies.
The Hell Demons were beaten into disarray. If not for the Lords personally holding the line, they would likely have already collapsed and fled.
Ancient One sighed. "Doom’s talent truly is exceptional. If his nature were not so dark, he would be the most suitable candidate for Sorcerer Supreme."
"Someone without a dark nature couldn’t have created something like this."
Wang Bert smiled. "My strong support for him was not wasted."
Ancient One asked, "You supported him?"
"Of course. He burned through billions in funding alone, and I even gave him the Extraordinary Dragon’s dragon heart."
Wang Bert said, "You don’t seem like someone who would make an unprofitable deal."
"It wasn’t a loss. Billions of dollars and a dragon heart in exchange for Doom making a move once—I made a huge profit."
Wang Bert smiled. "Sooner or later, he will reach God-Devil Level."
"Indeed, that was worth it."
Ancient One nodded in agreement. At that moment, the Hell Lords on the other side finally could not hold back any longer and made their move.
A Demon Dragon Lord opened its mouth and spewed a blast of dragon breath capable of incinerating all things at the Cockroach Army. The dragon breath was unimaginably hot; even the Explosion Cockroaches could not withstand it.
"Master, it’s our turn."
Wang Bert spread his hands, and a huge spatial gateway suddenly appeared in front of the dragon breath. The breath flew into it and vanished.
The next moment, the dragon breath appeared above the demons and instantly annihilated a large number of them.
Immediately afterward, Wang Bert raised a hand and pointed at the sky. The originally dim sky suddenly filled with writhing lightning serpents, followed by countless bolts of lightning striking down at once like heavenly tribulation.
The Lightning Ring, one of the Ten Rings. Moreover, from the very beginning, Wang Bert had been secretly gathering lightning within the Mirror Dimension, waiting for this opportunity.
The Hell Lords were startled and hurriedly intercepted the lightning. But because they were a step too slow, quite a few bolts slipped through and fell below, blasting countless demons to death.
Wang Bert sneered. "Hell Lords, so this is all you are?"
The Hell Lords flew into a furious rage. One Lord shouted, "A mere Vampire projection dares speak to us like that?"
"Aren’t you projections too? If you’ve got the guts, send your true bodies!"
Wang Bert’s face was full of provocation. Though the Hell Lords continued cursing, not a single one sent Their true body over.
What a joke. Ancient One was on the other side. Who dared use their true body? Were they not afraid of truly perishing?
"Enough nonsense. Come up here and fight."
Ancient One flew into the sky and shouted. Wang Bert immediately followed, while the Hell Lords exchanged glances before flying up as well.
At this point, they could only fight. No matter what, they had to defeat Ancient One and enter Earth! The Hell Lords cared only about Ancient One. As for the Blood God, They did not take him seriously at all.
The Blood God might become powerful in the future, but right now, he was still far too weak.
Ancient One waved her hand, isolating the space. "Who wants to come die first?"
Lucifer snorted coldly alongside the other Hell Lords. "Ancient One, you have been arrogant for so many years. It is time for you to pay the price."
Ancient One said disdainfully, "A bunch of defeated underlings. Why are you talking so much?"
Wang Bert rubbed his nose. His master’s taunt was truly vicious.
The Hell Lords were, unsurprisingly, enraged. Lucifer shouted, "Ancient One, do you think you are still the person you once were? Your current strength is not even half of what it used to be."
"Half my strength is enough to deal with you."
Ancient One rapidly cast a spell. Figures emerged from her body one after another, staring coldly at the Hell Lords.
This was not the power of the Time Stone, but the advanced magic Shape of Isaac. With Ancient One’s mastery, she could create twelve clones as powerful as herself.
Dr. Strange had also used similar magic in "Avengers 3," but his training was insufficient, and those clones dispersed at the slightest touch.
Then, without wasting words, all thirteen Ancient Ones simultaneously wielded Vishanti’s Holy Sword and slashed at the Hell Lords.
Facing many enemies alone, with only half her strength remaining, yet still daring to attack first—this was Ancient One.
Overbearing Ancient One, who had guarded Earth for centuries and left the demon gods gritting their teeth in hatred, yet utterly helpless.
