Education must never be neglected for lack of money; suffering… a little more is fine
"Minerva, I can’t believe it. Is this real?"
Madam Hooch hurried into Professor McGonagall’s office, barely able to contain her excitement.
"I can’t believe it—the Headmaster has really been replaced?"
"Er…?"
Professor McGonagall was rather surprised. Had Dumbledore done something to offend Madam Hooch? Why was she so happy that Dumbledore had stepped down?
"Oh! It wasn’t that I had any complaints about the former Headmaster. I’m just amazed that a Headmaster has finally realized Hogwarts’ flying brooms are far too outdated."
Madam Hooch hastily reined in her delight, but after giving the parchment in her hand a shake, the corners of her mouth still rose uncontrollably.
"A full forty Cornflowers, renowned for their stability! And twenty-eight Firebolts for the four teams! The new Headmaster even intends to build a broom museum at Hogwarts—yes, Hogwarts carries nearly all of England’s magical history. That is certainly necessary!"
Madam Hooch sighed with a blissful smile.
"I never imagined the new Headmaster could even get hold of Moon Dreams. These brooms, made by individual broomsmiths and once responsible for a revolution in broom technology, have been gone for nearly a century! And Silver Arrows—I used one myself in my flying lessons back then…"
"Ahem!"
Professor McGonagall had no choice but to interrupt Madam Hooch’s endless chatter.
"Rolanda, I understand your joy… but what did you come here for?"
"Oh? Oh! Right, I wanted to confirm it… This is real, isn’t it? Not someone playing a prank on me?"
Madam Hooch waved the parchment in her hand.
Professor McGonagall took it and examined it. It was indeed familiar handwriting.
Adam’s Quick-Quotes Quill could use all kinds of handwriting and even draw, so Adam had chosen an especially ornate script for use under the identity of "Headmaster."
"That’s right. We have indeed changed Headmasters, and this really is… our new Headmaster’s handwriting."
Professor McGonagall nodded at Madam Hooch.
"Wonderful! The children will definitely be thrilled. I wonder when these brooms will arrive…"
Watching Madam Hooch hurry away again, Professor McGonagall sighed.
Adam had certainly made a grand gesture. As one of Quidditch’s enthusiasts, she could fully understand that joy.
But soon afterward, Professor McGonagall felt that joy even more deeply.
She untied the parchment from the owl’s leg, unfolded it, and looked at the elaborate script upon it.
To all colleagues teaching at Hogwarts:
The Hogwarts library will soon be conducting a book purchase. Professors of every subject, please compile a list of books and periodicals you believe would be helpful in the teaching process, and submit it to Madam Pince at the library before the final weekend of August.
The books and periodicals currently included on the purchase list are as follows:
"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (1995 Edition)"
"Transfiguration Today" (Issue One to Present)
Additionally, to facilitate the purchasing process, please indicate the number of copies needed when submitting your lists. Thank you all for your cooperation.
Professor McGonagall’s eyes immediately lit up. She had long believed that students needed books beyond their textbooks to supplement their knowledge and aid their learning. The library’s collection had already become somewhat outdated. Furthermore, outstanding students preparing for their N.E.W.T.s needed exposure to the latest research findings in Transfiguration.
Pulling out a sheet of parchment, Professor McGonagall dipped her quill in ink and began writing furiously.
Back in the Headmaster’s Office, Adam was still using the Quick-Quotes Quill to write letters to the professors.
For example, there was a notice regarding salary and benefits adjustments. As Britain’s first and only institution of higher learning, the professors naturally deserved higher salaries and benefits commensurate with their abilities.
There was also a notice regarding research funding. If professors had specialized subjects they wished to study, Hogwarts could provide them with a certain amount of financial assistance. The initial funding amount would be the same, while subsequent amounts would be determined by the professors’ research achievements.
Besides those two letters, there was also a suggestion that an appropriate number of exams be arranged to regularly assess the students’ learning progress, allowing professors to dynamically adjust their teaching plans and balance out the pressure of final exam revision~
After arranging for Hogwarts’ owls to deliver the letters to the professors, Adam smiled in satisfaction as he thought of their contents—especially that last letter.
This was the kind of school life students were supposed to have!
Dating early, researching Dark magic, saving the world—those only happened because there wasn’t enough homework and too few exams!
Granted, that would deprive those little heroes of their chance to save the world.
But on further thought, those dangers were never things students should have had to face in the first place. Besides, the standard of Hogwarts graduates would surely rise dramatically, which would benefit the Wizarding World as a whole.
Thinking of it that way, Adam felt as if the red button on his chest had become even brighter.
"Let’s see what else needs to be dealt with."
Adam glanced at his memo. Every item had been checked off to indicate it had been resolved. Next up was…
"The Forbidden Forest. That really is a problem. Professor Grindelwald mentioned it to me before."
Adam nodded at the next item, wrote two more letters and sent them out, then used a Transfer Card to teleport to an open space outside the Forbidden Forest.
Not long afterward, Hagrid arrived.
"Adam?"
Hagrid looked rather surprised when he saw Adam.
"What are you doing here? I mean—term hasn’t started yet."
"Because I was the one who wrote to summon you here."
"What? But…"
Hearing Adam mention the letter, Hagrid frowned.
"Adam, impersonating the Headmaster isn’t funny."
"I am Hogwarts’ new Headmaster. There’s also a… a professor we’re waiting for. We’ll talk when they arrive."
Adam had no intention of explaining too much to Hagrid. Once the matter of the Forbidden Forest was dealt with, he would erase the part of Hagrid’s memory concerning Adam being Headmaster.
Hagrid’s character was trustworthy, but his ability to keep secrets was not.
More than ten minutes later, Firenze finally strolled over.
"…Adam?"
Firenze frowned, greeted Hagrid, then looked around.
"Don’t bother looking. I am Hogwarts’ new Headmaster. You don’t need to know the specifics. I called you here to resolve some troubles in the Forbidden Forest, and some of them concern you."
Adam raised a hand and levitated Hagrid and Firenze into the air. He used a Still Card to silence them, then took them straight into the Forbidden Forest.
Throughout the process, Hagrid kept trying to speak to Adam, but Firenze remained silent.
Given the power Adam had displayed, the idea that he was Hogwarts’ new Headmaster was still hard to believe, but no longer completely impossible.
Besides that, he was also thinking about the troubles in the Forbidden Forest that Adam had mentioned.
Something related to them… was it the centaur settlement?
Firenze raised his head. Unfortunately, it was daytime, and the stars could tell him nothing.
