Elder Council
"Victor, why did you wake both of us so urgently? What happened?"
In the council hall, two seats had been placed on either side of Victor. To his left sat a heroic, sexy female warrior—Amelia, one of the Three Elders of the Blood Clan and Liu Daimei’s progenitor.
"This concerns the future of the Blood Clan. Mr. Will and Miss Lia have brought news—news that could allow us to walk beneath the sunlight."
Victor gestured for the two confused elders to look toward the center. Gu Sheng and Liu Daimei were also sizing up the two Blood Clan elders.
Of the Three Elders, the strongest was undoubtedly Marcus Corvinus, the progenitor of the vampires. Although he had yet to be infected by werewolf blood and transform into a bat monster, his strength was still not to be underestimated. One foot had already crossed into Fourth Star Level.
Once he endured the tempering of time and merged with wolf blood, he would become a Fourth Star Level creature—someone no ordinary army could deal with.
In the later timeline of Underworld, Marcus had single-handedly dealt with all the fully armed modern special forces aboard a warship.
"Please, elders, remain calm. Allow me to tell you a story."
Gu Sheng smiled and began speaking as he looked at Marcus. "A long time ago, there was a Hungarian warlord named Alexander Corvinus. He once witnessed a plague outbreak destroy the village he ruled. He was the only survivor.
"Although he was infected by the virus, his body altered the disease and turned it to his advantage. He became the first true immortal."
"Crack~"
When Marcus heard this, he unconsciously squeezed the armrest of his chair. This was the story of his father.
"Elder Marcus, please hear me out."
Gu Sheng glanced at Marcus and continued, "This immortal’s body changed during the plague. His body could alter diseases and turn them to his advantage.
"In fact, it wasn’t limited to diseases. Anything detrimental to him could probably be transformed into something beneficial, becoming the source of his longevity.
"Many years later, Alexander and his wife Helena had at least three sons, and all three inherited the same trait. Two of those sons were Marcus and William.
"One was bitten by a wolf and became the first Werewolf. The other was bitten by a bat. Elder Marcus, you were the First Hokage of the Blood Clan."
"What?"
"It was Marcus?"
The councilors began whispering among themselves, and their gazes toward Victor took on a strange significance. To preserve his rule, Victor had told the others that he was the progenitor of the vampires. For William’s sake, Marcus had never revealed the truth.
"Silence!"
Victor shouted sharply, his expression unusually grim. "Mr. Will, how is this related to today’s topic?"
"It’s highly relevant!"
Gu Sheng nodded. "Elder Marcus and William both inherited the immortal blood originating from Mr. Alexander. Even your younger brother did as well.
"However, your immortal blood was recessive and needed to be activated. It also wasn’t as powerful as Mr. Alexander’s.
"Elder Marcus was bitten by a bat, and William was bitten by a Werewolf. But your younger brother was never bitten, so he lived as an ordinary human, experiencing birth, aging, illness, and death. He died of old age, correct?"
Marcus nodded. "That’s right. And it’s related to what you’re going to say?"
"It’s very much related!"
Gu Sheng continued, "The influence of bats and wolves activated the immortal blood in the two of you, turning you into vampires and Werewolves. Although you gained immortality, you also inherited their respective drawbacks.
"Vampires thirst for blood, fear sunlight, and can only consume blood. William needs no explanation—he went completely mad, lost his reason, and became a beast, never able to turn back into a human.
"In other words, compared with your father’s immortal blood, yours can only be considered defective. Each of you has your own flaws."
"Mr. Will, what exactly are you trying to say?"
Amelia spoke impatiently. Gu Sheng had yet to get to the point, and it was beginning to irritate her.
"What I’m saying is that these flaws originating from your bloodline can actually be remedied."
Gu Sheng smiled and looked up at Victor. "Your Majesty Victor, would you mind having your subordinate Lucian come here?"
"Tanis!"
Victor signaled Tanis to fetch Lucian. A look of understanding flashed through his eyes. Wasn’t Lucian, the wolf child he had happened to discover a century ago, the result of exactly what Gu Sheng was describing—a rational Werewolf?
"Master!"
Before long, Tanis brought Lucian into the council hall, which he had never previously had the chance to enter.
"Unlock the collar around his neck."
Gu Sheng instructed Tanis. Tanis looked back at Victor, and after receiving his permission, he took out a key and unlocked the collar around Lucian’s neck.
"I need you to transform into a Werewolf and prove something to the two elders."
Gu Sheng spoke to Lucian. After receiving Victor’s approval, Lucian stepped back a few paces.
"Awooo~"
Lucian’s body began to change. He grew taller and larger, while the joints in his legs bent backward. Before long, a towering wolf standing upright appeared before Marcus and Amelia.
"Oh! Incredible!"
Amelia stared at the scene in shock. In her mind, Werewolves had always been mindless monsters.
"William! William!"
Marcus rose excitedly to his feet. Lucian, a rational Werewolf, showed him a glimmer of hope—the hope that his brother could recover.
"Allow me to make a bold conjecture."
Gu Sheng continued, "I wonder if any of you know about Rabies. It’s a disease found in canine and wolf-like animals. Wolves and dogs that contract it become crazed and bite people indiscriminately, displaying extreme aggression. They’ll bite even the person who raised them without the slightest hesitation.
"I have reason to believe that the wolf that bit William back then was a Mad Wolf suffering from the disease. What drove William mad wasn’t his wolf blood, but Rabies.
"Lucian’s mother was bitten by a mad wolf-man while she was pregnant. The Mad Wolf’s blood infected her, turning her into a Mad Wolf as well.
"However, as the mother carrying him, she also provided a certain degree of resistance. Lucian wasn’t directly infected by the Mad Wolf, and he was fortunate enough to avoid contracting Rabies. Thus, he became the first normal Werewolf."
"Mr. Will, everything you’ve said concerns Werewolves. What does any of it have to do with us?"
Chairman rose to his feet, his tone extremely hostile. Listening to so much pointless talk had put him in a foul mood. If this human still refused to get to the point,
he didn’t mind letting him learn firsthand about the wrath of a vampire noble councilor.
