Employment Consultation

After some discussion, it was decided that Adam would graduate early after completing his fifth year, while Professor Dumbledore would hand over the position of Headmaster to Adam after his graduation.

"You won’t be disappointed, Professor Dumbledore."

Adam smiled faintly.

"I have class this afternoon, so I’ll be going first."

Watching Adam and Grindelwald disappear before his eyes, Professor Dumbledore murmured,

"I certainly hope so."

He was truly too tired. He had dealt with Grindelwald in the first half of his life and Voldemort in the second. Even if Adam truly harbored some extreme ideas, he no longer had the time or energy to deal with Adam.

As for having the children who were still young now deal with Adam… come on, this was a serious matter.

Therefore, he had no choice now but to trust Adam.

Besides… when he thought about it carefully, Adam merely wanted to protect Hogwarts’ children in his own way. He had always been a good child who loved Hogwarts, so how bad could he really be?

In the end, the Ministry of Magic had simply been far too disappointing.

Professor Dumbledore shook his head and Apparated with Fawkes to Number 12, Grimmauld Place.

After returning to Hogwarts, Adam attended his afternoon History of Magic class as usual and showed a surprised expression when he saw that notice the next day.

The facts proved that Professor Dumbledore was truly important to Hogwarts.

Even though the Ministry of Magic had spent an entire summer spreading propaganda and smearing Professor Dumbledore as a senile old fool, the reassurance brought by the greatest wizard of the century remained irreplaceable.

Umbridge becoming Headmistress and Hogwarts establishing a special action investigation group that could deduct House points… none of that had anything to do with Adam.

During this period, apart from continuing his magical research and attending the official opening of Storm Restaurant, he had done only one other thing.

"Death Eaters are really becoming more and more brazen these days."

Adam sighed as he looked at The Daily Prophet.

The British Museum, the London Natural History Museum, and others had suffered terrorist attacks one after another. How many more crimes was Sirius Black going to commit?

The article fiercely condemned Sirius Black and the Death Eaters who had escaped from prison with his help.

Shocking! Treasures bearing immense historical and artistic value had been brutally destroyed by magic. The Ministry of Magic had no choice but to organize personnel to cast Obliviate on thousands of Muggles connected to the incident. These terrorists had undoubtedly caused enormous property damage, and the subsequent impact was impossible to estimate! — Report from front-line reporter Rita Skeeter.

The front-page photograph showed the London Natural History Museum reduced to ruins, with an exceptionally conspicuous Dark Mark hanging overhead.

"How many museums has this been now… the fifth, I think? What exactly do the Death Eaters want? The fact that they attacked museums at night showed they wanted to operate secretly, so wasn’t releasing the Dark Mark at the end completely unnecessary?"

Eugene frowned.

"Besides, the Ministry of Magic is going all out to conceal The Dark Lord’s resurrection and the situation with the Death Eaters. Under normal circumstances, shouldn’t the Death Eaters be taking the opportunity to hide…?"

"Don’t try to understand the minds of criminals. You’ll become Bernard that way."

Klon solemnly warned Eugene.

"And even a normal person would go mad after spending ten years in Azkaban, let alone Death Eaters who were already insane to begin with. When have they ever done anything under normal circumstances?"

"The deduction afterward made some sense, but what did that first sentence mean? Hmm?"

Bernard had somehow appeared behind Klon and asked in a sinister voice before decisively putting him in a chokehold.

"By the way, how are your employment consultations coming along?"

Uther looked at everyone, completely deaf to Klon’s howls from the other side.

Although they all already had their own career goals, those were obviously unsuitable to reveal now, so they needed temporary career goals to stand in for them.

"We’ve already prepared."

Eugene made an OK gesture, while Bernard also freed up a hand to chime in.

"We’re planning to say that we’ll work for Adam in the future… after all, that really is what will happen."

"Hey, you’ll be working for Eugene in the future. How is that the same?"

"I’ll work for Eugene, and Eugene will work for you. Same difference."

Bernard waved a hand, and Klon seized the chance to break free.

Even in the Wizarding World, being a good Minister for Magic required a certain amount of financial backing. Otherwise, Fudge would not have been constantly influenced by those pure-blood families.

And Eugene, who would stand against the old-established powers in the future, would naturally have Adam’s capital behind him.

To Bernard, saying that Eugene would work for Adam in the future was completely accurate.

"We’ve settled ours. Klon can say he’s going home to inherit the family business. What about you, Uther?"

"I’m inheriting the family business too. My career goal isn’t inconvenient to say aloud like yours, so I’ll just tell the truth."

Uther shrugged.

Thus, on the day of the employment consultations, the five dormmates went to Professor Sprout’s office one after another.

"My career goal is to run my shops well. Two shops are already officially open, and after graduation, I plan to continue expanding the business to a certain extent."

Adam pulled out a chair and sat down, looking at Professor Sprout as he spoke.

"Mm, Eugene and Bernard have already mentioned your career goal to me. Or should I call it an entrepreneurial goal?"

Professor Sprout smiled and pointed at the candies on her desk. The wrappers prominently bore the logo of Dreamy Dessert Workshop.

"I believe your venture will surely be very successful and go smoothly. You’ve already done wonderfully. I can hardly believe that someone who has come this far is still a student… all right, your employment consultation is over. I wish you a future exactly as you desire, Adam."

"Thank you, Professor Sprout."

After leaving the office, Adam heard Eugene and Bernard whispering to each other at the end of the corridor.

"Something’s strange. That pink… Umbridge didn’t say a word from beginning to end? I even had a preserved plum candy under my tongue, ready to stop myself from vomiting."

"One preserved plum candy probably wouldn’t have been enough. But same here, I didn’t see her say anything the whole time. I was worried she was planning to speak at the end, so I hurried out as soon as Professor Sprout finished."

When they saw Adam come out, the two tilted their heads toward one side, signaling him to come over.

"Ugh."

Bernard sighed.

"I really don’t know how much longer we’ll have to look at that face… does she really not realize that when she forces that voice, she doesn’t sound like a young girl at all? She sounds more like the cry of an augurey."

Adam recalled the four differently colored augureys he had copied from Professor Scamander.

"Setting magic aside and speaking purely of sound, an augurey’s cry is probably far more pleasant than her voice… I’m serious. Perhaps Mandrakes’ cries would be a better comparison."

The three of them wore identical expressions that were impossible to put into words.
