Fierce Battle

"Are you an elementary school student? Why are you raising your hand?"

Wang Bert said irritably, "If I’m sending you, there’s naturally a reason for it. Just go along."

As he spoke, Wang Bert drew a circle with one hand, and a blue portal appeared before everyone.

Spider-Man’s eyes lit up. "Is that Kamar-Taj’s scientifically impossible portal?"

Tony asked in surprise, "Bert, you really became a Magician? Wait, you’ve only been practicing magic for three days, haven’t you?"

"Sigh, it took me a whole three days to master this spell. I’ve truly disgraced my title as an unparalleled magical genius."

Wang Bert sighed dramatically. Tony silently gave him the finger, feeling deeply annoyed. He was always the one showing off his intelligence. How had someone else managed to show him up today?

"Enough of that. Get over there already."

Wang Bert waved his hand. Tony and the others nodded and passed through the portal one after another, heading for S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters. Communications there had been cut off, and they had no idea what was happening.

After Tony and the others left, Wang Bert dismissed the portal. After thinking for a moment, he took out his phone and called Mercury. "Have you reached that base?"

Mercury replied, "We have. The base has already been surrounded."

Wang Bert said, "Good. Move immediately. Take everyone and everything from the base. If anyone resists, kill them all except Lizard Doctor."

Mercury nodded. "Yes, Blood God!"

After hanging up, Wang Bert looked toward Mandarin, his face full of cold mockery. Slay a god? Who gave you the courage to say that?

Mandarin was also watching Wang Bert. He did not know why the other side had withdrawn some of their people, but in his eyes, it was undoubtedly a terrible move.

"Make preparations. Blood God and his divine dragon will make their move soon."

Mandarin spoke quietly. The mysterious voice said viciously, "I’ve been preparing all along. Dragon Soul should taste quite good."

Let us turn back time a little. At S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, Hill entered the broadcasting room with Sharon’s help. Then, through the broadcast system, she directed the remaining Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in battle.

Although Hill’s command abilities were quite good, the situation continued worsening. Hydra had been preparing for far too long, and too many Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had died in the earlier ambush.

At that moment, two Helicarriers had already taken off. Before long, they would reach the required altitude. When that happened, countless people would die beneath Hydra’s guns!

"Damn it, so this is what Project Insight really is."

After hearing Sharon’s explanation, Hill cursed loudly. She asked Sharon, "Since you knew about this long ago, you should have other preparations, right?"

"We made quite a few preparations, but because of Mandarin, the Super Heroes can’t get here."

Sharon sighed. "Fortunately, we invited some outside help."

"Outside help? Who?"

Hill asked. Just then, a suit of armor flew up carrying a woman. Seeing the sunglasses on the armor, Hill sighed. "The Blood Clan Police Department."

"That’s right, it’s us. Melinda, command the battle here. I’ll go help Natasha."

Blade said, "She’s having trouble holding off that white Lizardman."

"Go."

Melinda jumped into the broadcasting room, picked up a radio, and said, "Everyone, move."

"Yes!"

The police officers of the Blood Clan Police Department immediately charged into S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters and fought alongside the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. against Hydra agents. The situation instantly improved quite a bit.

Hill asked with some displeasure, "Melinda, have you defected to the Blood Clan?"

"I joined S.W.O.R.D."

Melinda said coldly, "S.W.O.R.D. without Hydra."

At that, Hill felt incomparably depressed. It was clearly the fault of several previous S.H.I.E.L.D. Directors, so why had it all exploded during her tenure? Remembering something, she asked hopefully, "Was Nick Fury’s embezzlement fabricated by Hydra?"

"You really are loyal to Nick Fury."

Sharon glanced at Hill and said, "Hydra fabricated half of it. In other words, he embezzled as much by himself as Hydra did."

"So he’s still the greatest embezzler in history."

Hill was speechless. She said, "Forget that. What do we do about the two Helicarriers?"

"Stop them like this."

Sharon took out a Controller and pressed it. Violent explosions erupted from both Helicarriers at the same time. Then, the two Helicarriers stopped in midair and ceased rising.

Hill asked in delight, "You tampered with the Helicarriers?"

"Yes, but unfortunately, Pierce kept too close an eye on them. We couldn’t blow them all up, only delay them for a while."

Sharon said, "To truly destroy them, we still need the Super Heroes. I hope they get here soon."

Seeing the Helicarriers suddenly stop, Pierce shouted angrily, "Damn it, what happened to the Helicarriers?"

A Hydra agent immediately reported, "Sir, one engine on each Helicarrier was destroyed. We need time to repair them. Also, the Helicarriers have been infected with a virus, so the attack systems cannot activate."

Pierce asked, "How long will repairs take?"

"About half an hour."

"Too slow. Everything must be repaired within twenty minutes. Also, equip all Lizardmen with gas masks and protect the Helicarriers."

Pierce shouted. Every second counted now. Project Insight had to be completed before the New York incident was resolved.

At that moment, Pierce noticed the people from the Blood Clan Police Department had arrived. He frowned. "It seems they made many preparations. Fortunately, I made plenty of preparations as well."

More than ten minutes later, reinforcements sent by Lizard Doctor arrived. Pierce was overjoyed and hurriedly said, "Go out and kill Blade and Black Widow. Also, take the broadcasting room. I want to see Hill’s head."

"For something this minor, sending half our people is enough. The rest can set up the Doctor’s equipment. It may come in handy later."

The leading Cloaked Man spoke arrogantly. Ten reinforcements immediately stepped forward, nodded to Pierce, and strode outside.

The other ten reinforcements turned around and began assembling the machines.

Pierce glanced at the Cloaked Man and frowned. "As I recall, you are supposed to obey me completely."

The Cloaked Man sat in a chair with one leg crossed over the other. "When have I ever disobeyed you? Old man, don’t be so serious. Capable people can’t obediently follow orders like dogs. People like me, for example."

Pierce frowned even more deeply, but this was not the time to deal with it. He asked, "Why didn’t Lizard Doctor come?"

"He’s so afraid of dying. Why would he come here? If we lose, he’ll run immediately."

The Cloaked Man shrugged. "Just like last time. Oh, he’s already found a new employer. Want me to tell you the name?"

Pierce took a deep breath and said, "No need, because Hydra will not lose."

Leaving Pierce and the Cloaked Man’s conversation aside for now, the ten reinforcements split into two groups. Half went to deal with Blade and Black Widow, while the other half headed for the broadcasting room to eliminate Maria Hill.

Blade and Black Widow were currently battling Winter Soldier on the roof of headquarters. This Winter Soldier could breathe ice, making him extremely troublesome. The two had fought him for so long, yet still could not determine a victor.

"Why can a Lizardman breathe ice? No matter how I think about it, that makes no sense."

Blade smashed his hand against the wall, shattering the ice covering it, then rushed toward Winter Soldier and brought his blade down at his head.

Winter Soldier blocked Blade’s sword with his metal fist, then sent him flying with a sweep of his tail. Black Widow suddenly lunged forward and stabbed a dagger toward Winter Soldier’s waist! Winter Soldier immediately formed ice around his waist. The ice blocked Black Widow’s dagger and took away most of its force, leaving it only barely embedded in Winter Soldier’s waist.

Winter Soldier did not care about such a minor injury at all. He turned and punched Black Widow away.

Winter Soldier was about to pursue Black Widow and finish her off when Blade charged over. Endless flashes of sword light enveloped Winter Soldier, forcing him to retreat.

"Why doesn’t your sword have Vibranium added to it?"

Black Widow struggled to her feet and asked in confusion, "Isn’t that standard treatment for Blood God’s people? You’re one of Blood God’s oldest brothers-in-arms."

"My sword does have Vibranium mixed into it. The problem is, so does his arm."

Blade said gloomily. Black Widow froze, then immediately understood. Hydra must have secretly bought Vibranium.

Everything had two sides. Wang Bert allowing Wakanda to open up and sell Vibranium had indeed increased Earth’s strength, but it had also given certain villains the chance to acquire Vibranium.

Although Wakanda sold Vibranium through real-name registration, with Hydra’s power, getting people with legitimate identities to buy Vibranium was simplicity itself. Thus, Hydra had acquired a small amount as well.

Pierce had mixed some of the Vibranium into Winter Soldier’s metal arm. That was why Winter Soldier could regenerate without replacing the arm.

"No wonder S.H.I.E.L.D. had no Vibranium. Hydra embezzled it all."

Black Widow rushed toward Winter Soldier gloomily. Blade said, "Next time, I’ll have Bert get me a Pure Vibranium Battle Blade. Then let’s see who can stop me."

Black Widow was speechless. He truly was Blood God’s old brother-in-arms. Even the way he spoke was extravagant.

A Pure Vibranium Battle Blade cost at least a hundred million dollars! At that moment, five Lizardmen of different colors rushed out from the rooftop door. Upon seeing them, Winter Soldier immediately raised a hand and sprayed icy mist at Black Widow and Blade.

"They’re elite Lizardmen too. Blade, run!"

Black Widow was alarmed and hurriedly dodged the icy mist, flying into the sky. At that moment, a one-eyed Lizardman fired a laser beam from his eye, destroying the jet on her armor’s left foot. She crashed down from the sky with a bang.

Seeing this, another red Lizardman immediately opened his mouth and breathed flames at Black Widow. At the critical moment, Blade rushed over, grabbed Black Widow, and flew into the sky.

The Lizardmen were about to pursue them when Blade threw more than ten Pumpkin Bombs downward. The Pumpkin Bombs exploded one after another, nearly leveling the entire rooftop, and the Lizardmen hurriedly took cover.

At the same time, Sharon led Hill and Melinda out of the broadcasting room. Those Lizardmen were too strong; they were no match for them at all.

The two sides regrouped, all with ugly expressions. If this continued, they would be utterly defeated.

Hill could not help asking, "When are those Super Heroes coming?"

Sharon was about to answer when a blue portal suddenly appeared at the headquarters entrance. Iron Man, Captain America, Carter, and the others filed out one after another.

"You’re finally here."

Blade and the others immediately flew down. Tony unusually did not make a joke. He asked with a grim face, "Where is Pierce?"

Before Blade could answer, Pierce’s voice rang out. "Tony Stark, it seems you’ve discovered something."

Tony shouted angrily, "Pierce, did you kill my parents?"

"Yes. They were researching the Super-Soldier Serum, and I wanted it, so I sent Winter Soldier to kill them and disguised it as a car accident."

Pierce admitted it without hesitation. Then, Winter Soldier and twenty elite Lizardmen descended from above, landing with loud thuds before Tony and the others.

Pierce said, "That masked man with the metal arm is Winter Soldier."

"You killed my parents?"

Tony gritted his teeth and asked Winter Soldier. Winter Soldier remained expressionless, with no intention of answering at all.

Tony grew even angrier and raised his hand, firing a Micro Missile at Winter Soldier. Winter Soldier stretched out his hand and created an Ice Wall. The missile struck the Ice Wall and exploded with a boom, scattering ice fragments everywhere.

"Tony, deal with him. We’ll find a way to destroy the Helicarriers."

Steve shouted as he and Carter flew into the sky on Gliders. Pierce snorted coldly. "Stop them."

A Lizardman teleported onto Steve’s Glider and viciously swept its tail toward Steve. Steve leaned aside to evade it, then smashed the opponent away with his shield. But the Lizardman flickered in midair and appeared on the Glider once more.

Carter was also intercepted by another Lizardman. Seeing this, Human Torch immediately transformed into a man of flame and shot into the sky. Destruction was what he did best.

Just then, a bolt of lightning shot up from below and struck Human Torch squarely in the chest. Human Torch screamed and fell from the sky.

"Aren’t you being a little too reckless?"

Spider-Man shook his head and fired spider silk at the lightning Lizardman. His web-shooters had been modified, so electricity would not fry them.

"Why are there always fewer people on the good side?"

Blade shook his head and charged forward with his battle blade raised. Danny Rand followed close behind, grumbling, "Can someone tell me what’s going on? Why are we attacking S.H.I.E.L.D.?"

No one answered Danny, because everyone was busy.

After thinking for a moment, Tony sent five Drone Armors to support the others while he faced Winter Soldier alone. However, Winter Soldier was stronger than he had expected, and Tony could not defeat him at all.

The only one who did not join the fight was Black Widow. She quietly retreated toward the rear, where a cloaked Quinjet was hidden. Seeing her approach, it immediately opened its door and brought her inside.

Black Widow handed her dagger to Coulson and said quickly, "There’s Winter Soldier’s blood on the dagger. Study it immediately. Also, get someone to help repair the jet on my left foot."

Coulson immediately said, "Fitz, help Natasha repair her armor. Jemma, study the Lizardman blood with Dr. Connors."

"Okay."

Jemma immediately stepped forward and took the dagger. Then she turned to Dr. Connors’s holographic projection and asked, "Doctor, what should we do now?"

"Analyze it first. Lizard Serum is my masterpiece. No one understands it better than I do."

Dr. Connors’s voice was full of rage. That damned Lizard Doctor was using Lizard Serum to commit evil again.

At the same time, Leo Fitz stepped forward to repair Black Widow’s jet, while Skye assisted him.

Skye was clearly distracted. She could not help asking Coulson, "Coulson, are we really going to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D.? I only joined S.H.I.E.L.D. an hour ago!"

"There’s no other way. S.H.I.E.L.D. has already become Hydra S.H.I.E.L.D. We have to bury it for good!"
