Final Purpose

"Tell me, Professor Dumbledore, what did you want to see me about?"

Noah, seated in his laboratory, looked curiously at Professor Dumbledore. In front of him lay a thoroughly dead dragon.

The Sanctum did not seem very large, but in a magical world with spatial folding technology, even a small space could be expanded.

Since Noah was fairly skilled in Space magic, he naturally would not make do. With Dennis’s help, Noah found a room and transformed it into something resembling a laboratory.

For the convenience of keeping records, Noah had even specifically bought quite a bit of electronic equipment from Charles.

The Sanctum never blocked such electronic signals, and Noah seemed to prefer an environment with computers and the internet.

Thus, after Noah’s renovations, his Sanctum had become extremely modernized, to the point where it was almost impossible to tell it was a mage’s residence.

Of course, Noah had not forgotten that he was, at his core, a mage.

What kept those devices running in the Sanctum was not electricity, but an improved item created by Ryan Hossman, winner of the third Kamar-Taj Magic Award. Though its output was still low and it was somewhat crude, it had already begun to be promoted for use.

"Are you conducting an experiment? I heard Evan and the other two mention that you seemed to be improving Animagus transformation?"

Dumbledore did not answer immediately. Instead, he curiously examined the dragon in front of Noah.

"Yes. Animagus transformation has existed for so many years, yet it is still limited to transforming into small and medium-sized animals. That can only be called highly unreasonable. And no one has developed it in the direction of magical creatures and mythical creatures, which makes me very curious, so I intend to give it a try."

Noah picked up one of the dragon’s body parts and examined it carefully. He answered while taking notes.

This Transformation Magic truly did not conform to common sense. Logically speaking, if you transformed into a mythical creature, then in a sense, your combat power would become stronger as well.

"What you said makes sense, but the reality is not as you imagine." Dumbledore gave a bitter smile.

"Huh? What do you mean?" Noah turned around this time. What did he mean, not as he imagined?

"In fact, the York Magical Association has already developed Animagus transformations for large animals. As for mythical creature transformations, a Magic Organization from the East has created them as well. It is simply that transformations into mythical creatures are too difficult to control."

"Too difficult to control?"

"Yes. Leaving aside the difficulty of the research itself, the methods of circulating and storing magic power are both major challenges. But even after overcoming those problems, there is an even more difficult issue: when you transform into a mythical creature, your will may very well be replaced by its instincts! So although we do not have any records of this research, that does not mean no one has studied it, nor does it mean there have been no results."

"Is that so?"

Noah nodded. If what Dumbledore said was true, then it made much more sense.

The benefits brought by transforming into a mythical creature were easy to see. Mythical creatures were not like ordinary little animals; they all possessed abilities unique to themselves.

It could even be said that after transforming into them, using their methods of casting would greatly enhance the power of magic.

Naturally, no one could have failed to research such an effect. It was only normal that it had been studied and had produced results.

As for being unable to control it?

That was indeed a problem. Even with Animagus transformation, there had been cases of people turning into animals and being unable to turn back, let alone magical creatures whose ferocity surpassed ordinary understanding.

Now, Noah finally understood where the system’s advanced Animagus information had come from.

Noah was still not certain about the dragon information, but it was probably the work of some great mage as well.

Shaking his head, Noah could not be bothered to think about such matters anymore. The system had taken away his High-dimensional dark power precisely to prevent certain things from happening.

So Noah did not need to worry too much about losing control. Even if the system proved unreliable, he still had The Ancient One standing behind him.

Without those safeguards, Noah would not foolishly have considered pursuing this research. Honestly, this research truly offered Noah quite a few benefits.

Noah’s physical abilities could not be improved at all right now. He could only wait for time or wait for missions. But that did not mean there were no shortcuts. He could use magic to reshape himself into another creature, especially one with high constitution, high endurance, and high magic power!

After considering it over and over, Noah ultimately chose a dragon.

Although that had been Noah’s idea from the beginning, back then it had only been because dragons looked cool!

Now, Noah was not doing it just for looks. He needed something sufficiently practical and more suited to his own characteristics.

Most importantly, Noah had always kept one idea to himself.

He hoped that after transforming himself into a dragon and gaining special power, he could then transform back into a human and have the dragon’s power feed back into his own body. That was what Noah looked forward to most!

"Thank you, Professor Dumbledore. I understand. I’ll be careful. Besides, I’m only giving it a try. If I succeed, perhaps I can win the Kamar-Taj Magic Award again. If I fail, I have a certain degree of protection as well."

Having thought it through, Noah said this to Dumbledore.

"All right, but you must be careful. And when you are certain you want to transform, make sure your teacher is present, understand?" Dumbledore said with concern.

"No problem. By the way, Professor, what did you come here for?"

After nodding to show that he understood, Noah finally asked curiously about Dumbledore’s purpose in coming here.

"I nearly forgot the important matter." Dumbledore suddenly patted his forehead before saying, "There’s a party tonight. If possible, I hope you can attend."

"A party?" Noah gave Dumbledore a strange look. "Will those Magic Organizations or Ministries of Magic be attending?"

"A party held by the British Ministry of Magic."

Professor Dumbledore tilted his head. "Come to think of it, many newcomers have entered the Ministry of Magic recently, and most of them are your classmates. Some even came from that little organization of yours. Don’t you plan to attend?"

"Is that so?" Noah set down the dragon’s heart in his hand, removed his gloves, and propped up his head as he began to think.

Noah did not reject the idea of attending a party. Mages, like ordinary people, needed social interaction.

Although many research-focused mages were extremely withdrawn, Noah was not that sort of technical geek. Besides, even Noah himself had no idea how long he had been guarding these dragon corpses.

The smell of blood alone was making Noah feel rather uncomfortable.

Moreover, Dumbledore was right. Ever since Noah had left Hogwarts for Kamar-Taj, and then returned from Kamar-Taj, he had barely kept in contact with many of his classmates from the magical world.

That was not a good thing. Noah had put so much effort into creating all those things because he wanted the youngsters of the Mage Alliance to have a better future.

Once they completed their studies, would that not be the season for Noah to begin reaping the rewards?

Those who had returned from Kamar-Taj University had all entered important departments. Those who had not attended Kamar-Taj University had long since been shining in their respective positions, and the vast majority had become leaders in their own fields.

It could be said that every important position in the middle and lower ranks of the Ministry of Magic was now held by people connected to Noah’s faction.

It would be a good thing for Noah to meet them. He had never had the time to organize a class reunion, so he might as well take this opportunity to properly see them.

"Sure. I’ll attend tonight." Noah thought for a moment, then nodded to indicate that it was fine.

"Good. I was afraid you would make excuses again and say you didn’t have time." Professor Dumbledore looked very pleased after receiving the answer he wanted.

"Honestly, you could have just called me about something like this." Noah smiled as well. "Why come all this way in person?"

"You have no idea how boring it is sitting in an office. Good heavens, it’s nothing but all kinds of documents. Really, I think I should just retire as soon as possible." Dumbledore gave a bitter smile. He had come out simply to slack off for a while.

"There’s no need to rush into retirement. You have enough lifespan to spend for a long time. Why not continue stabilizing the situation and wait for the younger generation to grow up before choosing to leave?"

"You really have far too many ideas."

How could Dumbledore not know what Noah was thinking after hearing that?

This boy had already displayed certain ambitions when he was at Hogwarts. Back then, Dumbledore could ignore them, but now he had no choice but to take them seriously.

But it had to be said that the youngsters from the Mage Alliance were indeed exceptionally outstanding. And there was even less need to mention those who had graduated from Kamar-Taj University!

Besides, who in the magical world did not want to deepen their ties with Kamar-Taj?

The magical standards of those students from Kamar-Taj University went without saying. Their knowledge was extensive, and their character and every other aspect of them were equally excellent.

Making use of these students could both improve the magical world’s overall strength and bring it closer to Kamar-Taj. Who would refuse such a deal?

Dumbledore was not foolish. Naturally, he would do the same. Besides, in his eyes, every one of those students had been cultivated during his own time in office.

They did not discriminate against ordinary people, nor did they reject mages born to ordinary people. Naturally, Dumbledore would devote more effort to them.

And in the British magical world, there was also Noah, a fellow who had come from Hogwarts.

He was the leader of the Mage Alliance and The Ancient One’s disciple. If this boy had not gone off to guard the Sanctum instead of joining the Ministry of Magic, Dumbledore truly would have wanted to cultivate him into the Minister of Magic.

"It’s only a suggestion, Professor. Just think about it." Noah shrugged, speaking indifferently.

"It could work, but wouldn’t that make me feel very tired?" Dumbledore’s face was full of bitter smiles.

"Professor, have you ever heard the saying, ‘The capable should do more work’?"

"I have. Since the capable should do more work, shouldn’t you, one of the capable ones, do more as well? Oh, right, Noah. There is something I need to remind you about."

"What is it?"

"Your cat is eating a baby dragon. Just now, it swallowed one whole."
