Fruit Tree Selection

“Mr. Chen?” Qin Hong looked at the young man in front of him and asked, puzzled.

“Yes!” Chen Mo nodded.

“Hello, Mr. Chen, thank you very much for your trust in me,” Qin Hong said with gratitude in his eyes after receiving confirmation.

“Let’s talk in the car.” Chen Mo gestured to the car behind him, then turned and got into the driver’s seat.

Qin Hong also got into the passenger seat.

The vehicle drove slowly and finally stopped at a restaurant.

“You haven’t had breakfast yet, have you? Let’s have breakfast; I still have some things to tell you,” Chen Mo said, opening the car door and heading straight into the restaurant.

“Thank you, Mr. Chen,” Qin Hong thanked him again upon entering the restaurant.

“No need for thanks. Next, I’m going to tell you some things that you need to remember and, most importantly, execute,” Chen Mo said, glancing at Qin Hong indifferently, then called a waiter to order a few dishes.

Not long after, the food was served.

“Mr. Chen, what do you need to tell me? I can take notes,” Qin Hong said, pulling out a small notebook and a pen from his pocket, ready to write everything down.

He had developed the habit of carrying this small notebook and pen during his agricultural research days.

After all, observing the changes in various crops and recording data daily made carrying a notebook essential.

Over time, it became a habit.

Chen Mo looked at the notebook in Qin Hong’s hand and nodded secretly.

It was better to write it down to avoid forgetting.

He organized his thoughts slightly and then slowly began.

“Starting today, you will be the person in charge of the agricultural industry I’m establishing. However, you must not reveal my existence here, including information about Tomorrow Group. This is very important; you must remember it.”

“Here, you are the investor in the agricultural industry, and I am just your friend. When discussing land leases with the villagers later, you must say this.”

“Understood, Mr. Chen.” Qin Hong quickly wrote down Mr. Chen’s requirements in his notebook.

Although he didn’t know why Mr. Chen was doing this, since it was his superior’s order, he didn’t ask further.

Seeing Qin Hong had finished taking notes, Chen Mo continued.

“Next are some requirements for the agricultural industry I’m establishing. The first point is regarding the orchard we are about to lease. Due to drought and terrain, we need to drill wells on the mountain and build cable cars leading up the mountain to transport the fruit when it ripens.”

“However, the exact number of cable cars and wells to build is for you to decide. The only requirement is: more is better, never less.”

“Also, regarding the choice of fruit trees, the existing fruit trees on the mountain will definitely need to be completely cleared. I need to plant new fruit trees, and I’ve already selected the saplings: we will plant Black Bitter Fruit Trees.”

Black Bitter Fruit Tree?

Qin Hong was stunned when he heard Mr. Chen’s words.

He knew the name of this fruit tree; it was originally a wild fruit tree, but through subsequent cultivation, it could now be cultivated independently, little by little.

The fruit of this tree is black and has a slightly bitter taste when eaten.

Hence, it was named the Black Bitter Fruit Tree.

Most people don’t like the fruit of this tree; it only appeals to a small segment of the population.

So, although the fruit tree has been cultivated and can be planted on a large scale, it has never been popularized due to its limited appeal.

After all, a small target audience means limited sales, and it might not sell for a good price.

Currently, it's mostly just a few farmers who plant one or two trees for their own consumption when the fruit ripens.

Thinking of this, Qin Hong finally couldn’t help but speak up to remind him.

“Mr. Chen, I know a bit about this Black Bitter Fruit Tree. Its target audience is very small. If we plant it on a large scale, I’m concerned about sales.”

“That’s fine. I’ve also looked into this fruit tree. I believe it’s related to its reputation. I’m sure that if we promote the Black Bitter Fruit Tree more then, there will definitely be sales,” Chen Mo said, waving his hand indifferently.

He had already thoroughly researched that fruit tree; he chose it precisely because it had no sales.

If it had a lot of sales, why would he choose it?

As long as this fruit tree is planted, even if it takes three years for it to bear fruit, he has nothing to worry about.

What if it bears fruit? If it can’t be sold, it’s still the same problem.

This…

Qin Hong was momentarily speechless.

He didn’t know what Mr. Chen was thinking.

If the fruit tasted good, promoting it could indeed expand its sales.

But the key now was that the black bitter fruit didn’t taste very good at all.

No matter how well it was promoted, no one would buy something that wasn’t good!

But before he could speak, Mr. Chen had already continued.

“The matter of the fruit trees is settled; they will not be changed. Next is the issue of employees. Establishing an agricultural business will certainly require a group of employees. Coincidentally, the fruit farmers from those orchards were planning to go out to work due to the drought, but I’ve kept them here.”

“When we go to sign the land lease contract later, we also need to discuss the recruitment issue with them. However, because time is tight, we haven’t registered the agricultural company yet.”

“So, to reassure those fruit farmers, we can hire them as daily workers, but their wages will be paid according to their future full-time salaries. As for the initial salaries for employees, you can contact my assistant; she will provide you with the employee salary data, and you can issue payments according to the information provided.”

“During this period, you need to register the agricultural company as soon as possible. I’ve already decided on the name: Jiuhan Agricultural Base.”

“Alright, that’s pretty much it. When we go later, you can just follow what I’ve told you.”

“Understood, Mr. Chen.” Qin Hong slowly put down his notebook.

He had recorded all of Mr. Chen’s requests.

It was just the company’s name that he found a bit strange.

Jiuhan Agricultural Base.

That orchard had suffered from a drought, resulting in a complete crop failure, yet now it was being named Jiuhan Agricultural Base.

He couldn’t understand what Mr. Chen was thinking.

Soon, the meal was finished.

The two stood up and walked outside.

Back in the car, Chen Mo started the vehicle and drove straight towards Dahe Town.

On the way to pick up Qin Hong, he had already informed Wang Xilong of Dahe Town in advance to gather the fruit farmers.

Qin Hong sat in the passenger seat, opening his notebook and carefully reviewing what Mr. Chen had just said.

He wanted to prevent himself from messing things up when they arrived at Dahe Town.

………….

Dahe Town.

Wang Xilong found his favorite jacket, which he usually hated to wear, and headed straight out the door.

“Dad, we don’t even know that person yet, and you’re gathering all the fruit farmers like this. What if something goes wrong? It might not be good. Let’s go first and discuss with that boss, and after we’re sure there are no problems, then we can notify the other fruit farmers,” Wang Siyu said, following her father, somewhat worried.
