Gas

"You dare!!!"

General Zod’s roar echoed across the battlefield. This was the first time he had erupted with such terrifying fury.

When he saw Faora’s head severed by the weak humans in his eyes, anger finally appeared on General Zod’s face, as frozen as if it had never thawed in ten thousand years. The immense rage twisted his entire expression into something ferocious.

The last time he had lost control like this was when the Kryptonian rebellion had failed and he had been captured. Looking at those decayed Kryptonian elders then, General Zod had wanted to execute every last one of them, because they had led Krypton down a path of irreversible ruin.

But now, seeing his most trusted adjutant dead, General Zod only wanted to carve every Earthling before him into a thousand pieces.

Faora was unquestionably someone immensely important to General Zod. He had spent half his life at war, and very few people had ever been able to enter his heart. Perhaps the concept of "love" simply did not exist in his genes, leaving General Zod forever strict, iron-blooded, and impartial.

Yet even the most ice-cold intelligent being had feelings. Adjutant Faora was one of the few people Zod could truly confide in.

And yet, this adjutant who had followed him through countless battles had not died beneath the bombardment of interstellar fleets, nor in the Kryptonian revolution. Instead, she had met her end on this tiny Earth.

Intense hatred and fury filled Zod’s heart as a vast red energy rapidly gathered in his eyes.

Seemingly realizing what General Zod intended to do, Kara hesitated not at all. She burst from the sky in an instant and flew straight toward him.

"Get out of my way!"

General Zod immediately detected the sonic boom from Kara’s rapid flight. With an angry shout, he threw a punch toward the sound.

The explosive power of a Kryptonian was simply unimaginable, let alone a furious punch from General Zod. With a dull thud, Kara’s body made a right-angle turn in midair and flew hundreds of meters away before crashing brutally into the ground, her fate unknown.

Without sparing a glance for his niece by no blood relation, General Zod let out a roar, and destructive beams erupted from his eyes toward the strangely dressed humans.

Heat Vision was an extraordinarily wondrous ability embedded in Kryptonian genes. Its energy seemed to have almost no upper limit, and its destructive power at full output was terrifying. No one knew what its true limit was, because while releasing that energy, the extreme heat also placed immense strain on Kryptonian eyeballs.

If it was sustained too long or unleashed with too much power, Kryptonians themselves would be unable to endure it first. Their eyes could even go blind from being unable to control that energy.

General Zod could feel pain in his eyes at that moment, but he did not care in the slightest. He only wanted to kill every enemy before him.

Yet unexpectedly, the other side reacted quickly—faster than he did!

If the silver-haired man’s speed was roughly comparable to his own, then the other two figures dressed in red and wreathed in lightning had completely surpassed him in speed.

Before the glow of Heat Vision could envelop them, the four figures had already left their positions, racing far away at incredible speed. Not even Heat Vision could catch up to them.

General Zod clenched his fists, a bloodthirsty glint flashing through his eyes. Then he gave chase, moving so fast that even the nearby ordinary soldiers could not react.

The next instant, a battle of speed erupted. General Zod, his mind consumed by rage, had gone completely mad. Anything that stood in his way, whether tanks or humans, was crushed into fragments.

His devastating power brought crushing pressure that made everyone’s hearts tremble. The fleeing group did not dare stop for even a step. The Flash was indeed fast, but if General Zod caught them, there would be no need for prolonged combat. A single punch would be enough to blast any one of them to pieces.

Though General Zod was furious, his mind remained methodical. He was not blindly pursuing them. Instead, like a shepherd driving sheep, he herded them toward the position of his Kryptonian army.

Using the encirclement created by sheer numbers, even though The Flash was faster than the Kryptonians, he was nearly tripped or intercepted several times. In less than ten seconds, the group had brushed past death again and again.

The human army wanted to help as well, but the battle had clearly moved beyond anything they could interfere with. They could not even see the enemies’ shadows, much less assist The Flash and the others.

Just then, a piercing sound tore through the air. High above, a bat-shaped fighter jet emerged from the clouds, trailing two long vapor trails.

Since The Flash and the others had drawn the battlefield to the ground, the arrival of the Bat-Plane went unnoticed by most people. Even those who saw it had no time to spare it any attention.

But what happened next caught everyone completely off guard. Two missiles suddenly fired from beneath the Bat-Plane, aimed directly at where most of the Kryptonians were gathered.

These missiles were nothing like the small grenade launchers from earlier. The violent explosions sent immense shockwaves through the Kryptonian formation. That alone would not have harmed them in the slightest, but after the blasts, thick green smoke surged outward.

The dense smoke rolled like ocean waves, billowing one swell after another with an almost dreamlike quality. By the time the Kryptonian soldiers realized what was happening, it was too late. The poison gas clung to them like maggots on bone, taking effect upon contact.

The Kryptonians had been distracted by The Flash and the others, making it difficult for them to notice at first. When the poison gas spread, they no longer had time to escape the area it covered.

And that was not all. As though worried the poison gas was not potent enough, the Bat-Plane began spraying downward from high in the sky. Massive amounts of green gas spewed from its rear, blanketing the sky along the jet’s flight path before slowly drifting downward.

Now, the Kryptonian soldiers who had flown into the air to avoid the gas were immediately hit. Clutching their throats, they felt weakness constantly rise within them until it overtook their entire bodies. They could not even control their flight and fell one after another.

"General!"

"Ah!"

Without their invulnerable bodies, these Kryptonians instantly became lambs for slaughter. Their equipment offered some protection, but it could not withstand the increasingly fierce human firepower.

Moreover, the disparity was too overwhelming. The sensation of falling from the peak into the abyss in an instant left them utterly unable to resist. Before long, casualties began to appear among the Kryptonian soldiers.

Seeing this, General Zod immediately stopped pursuing the speedsters. Watching his soldiers be contaminated one by one by this poison gas, then slaughtered by humans he viewed as ants, General Zod’s fury surged anew. The veins on his forehead were visibly bulging.

"How dare you? How dare you?!!"
