Gravity Manipulation Taken to New Heights

Brilliant fireworks suddenly blossomed above the base, their explosions and light glaring in every direction, drawing the eyes of nearly everyone within several miles.

"They should still be inside the base. Get over there!"

"Don’t let them escape!"

The low-flying fighter jets conducting scans and the armed vehicles sweeping the area like a carpet surged toward the old base, accelerating like sharks that had caught the scent of blood.

Only after they had quickly moved away did the two figures concealed in the shadows of the night rise from the grass not far outside the base.

"That was close, but just now…" Natasha stared toward the base in surprise.

"No need to think about it. Kyle definitely did that." Steve gave a wry smile.

In such a seemingly dangerous situation, the only person with the twisted sense of humor to set off fireworks was probably Kyle himself.

Without dwelling on it, Steve and Natasha continued breaking through the encirclement, seizing this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

"We’ll head back to New York first. But S.H.I.E.L.D. is still hunting us all over the city, so we need to find another reliable ally." As Steve ran, his gaze fell on Natasha beside him.

"Don’t look at me. Everyone I know is with S.H.I.E.L.D." Natasha waved her hand, then hesitated before saying, "The Karl family might count, but judging by the Patriarch’s attitude just now, he doesn’t seem particularly concerned about what’s happening in New York. Until I understand what he’s thinking, I won’t ask the family for help."

Steve asked curiously, "The Karl family Kyle founded… what kind of family organization is it, exactly?"

Project Insight could endanger the entire world. Was even that not enough to make them take action?

"You’ll find out later. The Karl family members obey only the Patriarch. Without an order from him, every one of them is the local kingpin of some faction or underground organization." Natasha pursed her lips, unwilling to say more.

The Karl family members all pursued things ordinary people could scarcely understand—evolution and immortality. Other than before Patriarch Kyle, each of them had their own pride and temperament.

Apart from a few people in the family, Natasha was not particularly fond of the others.

Steve nodded helplessly. "Then there’s no other way. We’ll have to rely on me, but I’ve only recently awakened from the ice. I don’t know anyone…"

He trailed off halfway through, then seemed to remember something. His eyes lit up slightly.

That’s right.

Steve remembered a retired Black serviceman at the military rehabilitation facility. He seemed to have once been a U.S. military pilot. "I know someone. He should be trustworthy! Come with me to find him!"

"Oh." Natasha nodded, then casually asked, "Wait, how many days have you known him?"

"Seven days."

"…"

After the ‘noncombatants’ had withdrawn, a nighttime battle finally began inside the old base.

No, calling it a massacre would have been more appropriate.

Bzzzz—

The enemy’s small fighter jet arrived first, its engine emitting a droning roar as it crossed over the base’s electrified fence and swooped toward the air above the rooftop like an eagle.

Yutong was just about to engage when Kyle gave Lorna a light push and said in a low voice, "No need to hold back. Use your abilities to your heart’s content! Let me see your true strength!"

Caught off guard, Lorna was pushed to the front. Facing the incoming fighter jet, she pouted in irritation and raised both hands coldly. "Who’s afraid of who?"

In truth, ever since her powers had gone out of control several years ago while she was escaping a Hydra laboratory, she had never fully unleashed them again.

Until now.

Lorna took a deep breath. A solemn look appeared in her gemlike eyes, her hair brushing across her forehead without wind, while green mist-like light bloomed around her palms as her power activated.

Gravity Manipulation!

In a brief instant.

The small fighter jet flying less than thirty meters overhead suddenly seemed to be struck by abnormal gravitational force. Its nose involuntarily tilted downward, and it immediately threatened to crash into the rooftop.

Kyle raised his eyes. As the fighter jet rapidly enlarged in his pupils, he quickened his instructions. "Don’t stop. Push harder."

Lorna’s face turned slightly pale. Her palms rotated as green mist swirled and rippled through the air.

Magnetism Control!

It was like the last straw that broke the camel’s back—or like multiplying an already crushing pressure several dozen times over!

At that moment, time and space seemed to freeze. The enemy fighter halted in midair ten meters before the building, as if it had lagged for half a second in a cartoon, then dropped heavily, nearly in free fall.

The fighter jet crashed violently into the grass before the building, transforming into a blazing fireball. The blast wave shot over ten meters into the air, whipping Lorna’s dark green hair into a wild frenzy.

Her stunningly beautiful, cold face looked strikingly handsome and imposing beneath the firelight—enough to make even women’s hearts flutter.

But she could not maintain her icy demeanor for even a second.

Color returned to her pale face. She clenched her fists excitedly and looked at Kyle with expectation and pride. "How was that? Pretty good, right?"

Pulling down a fighter jet with her power alone—even one flying at low altitude—was more than enough to leave ordinary people utterly stunned.

"Not bad." Kyle smiled faintly.

With her adrenaline surging, Lorna immediately looked as though she had been doused with cold water. She gave an unhappy snort.

Kyle shook his head inwardly.

"Not bad" was already a fittingly objective evaluation when judging the ability itself.

Gravity Manipulation and Magnetism Control, when used together to their fullest potential, practically formed a semi-invincible domain.

Pulling down a small fighter jet in flight was merely an application that had only just moved beyond the basics.

Kyle’s ears twitched. His extraordinary senses detected danger drawing near, and he mused, "Don’t believe me? Let me show you what a real application of abilities looks like!"

As soon as he spoke, Kyle and the other two broke free from Earth’s gravity, rose into the air, and flew away from the rooftop beneath them.

The next moment.

The building below suffered a fierce bombardment. Amid destructive explosions, the structure collapsed with a thunderous rumble into a field of rubble.

Twenty meters in the air, the three of them floated and flew as though they were inside a space capsule, drawn along by forces from every direction.

"How did I start flying… How did you do that?"

Lorna cried out, her beautiful eyes shining as she looked at Kyle. Yutong, however, covered her mouth and giggled.

"Look more carefully. Isn’t this the very ability you possess?" Kyle laughed.

At his reminder, Lorna finally noticed the familiar green mist swirling around Kyle’s fingertips.

Pulling forces came from above, below, left, and right, lifting them from the ground, keeping them suspended, and allowing them to fly.

"This is Gravity Manipulation… It can actually be used like this?" Lorna was stunned, even overlooking the fact that Kyle possessed her ability.

The enemy troops inside the base fired rocket launchers into the air again, the shells streaking toward the three of them with trailing flames and shrieking whistles.

"It can be used for more than that. It can also be used like this." As Kyle spoke, he pressed his index and middle fingers together like a sword and lightly tapped at the incoming shells from afar.

Gravity twisted into chaos, and the air solidified like a swamp. The flying rockets slowed continuously until they barely stopped half a meter before his fingertips!

That half meter was an impassable chasm!
