He Is Called Optimus Prime
A massive metal construct slowly took shape, growing from small to large before the horrified eyes of the crowd. Its soul-shaking metallic sounds were exceptionally piercing in the night, drowning out every other noise until heaven and earth seemed to contain nothing but this unprecedented metal object.
People in the distance stood frozen in shock, staring blankly as if they were about to go mad, their ability to think nearly gone.
"His name is Optimus Prime. I named him myself. Unlike you two beasts, at least Optimus Prime is alive. To me, he has emotions."
Using the glowing flame in his mind, like a spark that kindled wisdom itself, Donnie controlled Optimus Prime. He secretly called his Mutant ability "Spark," and it was a fitting name. In his mind, a spark should have looked exactly like this.
At that moment, Optimus Prime truly came alive. Under Donnie’s control, he rose from a battered little truck and stood upright.
General Ross stared at Optimus Prime in bewilderment. "What the hell is that thing now?"
Some reporters babbled nonstop into their cameras, recounting their shock. Those with sharp eyes bluntly declared that this had to be some special ability—a new, powerful Mutant had been born amid the crisis.
The footage was transmitted into countless homes, and innumerable people witnessed the scene, deeply shaken.
Major institutions and organizations around the world gathered experts and scholars before their televisions, analyzing the battle and conducting urgent assessments.
Abomination and Hulk stopped, warily watching this metal monster that had appeared in defiance of common sense. The atmosphere was oppressive and heavy. Neither spoke.
At last, Abomination spoke first. "What are you things? What department made you toys?" He had absolute confidence in himself. His immense strength gave him the arrogance to face any monster or demon. Abomination believed that nothing in this world could stand against him—not even Hulk.
The power he had gained so easily made Abomination look down on everything.
Optimus Prime carefully scooped Donnie up and placed him on his shoulder. Donnie gripped Optimus Prime tightly with his relatively uninjured right arm. The cold touch of metal made him feel incomparably warm. He felt that Optimus Prime was himself, the crystallization of his dreams, the embodiment of his family’s faith.
"I’ll kill you, no matter the cost! As long as I’m still alive, I’ll use everything I have to destroy you," Donnie said. "You destroyed everything. My family is gone. Even the fresh fruit loaded in that truck—my family had worked hard all morning to stock and load it—is gone. I have nothing left."
Donnie’s eyes were red, as though there were tears in them. But there were none. There was no blood in his eye sockets, either. At that moment, he understood that humans really could run out of tears.
Donnie could no longer cry.
Among the ruins on both sides, the surviving people fell to their knees and prayed. "Is this God? Has he come to save us from the demons?"
"I have nothing left," Donnie said, his voice utterly calm, carrying the tranquility of death.
He controlled Optimus Prime. Countless metal components assembled around Optimus Prime’s right arm, forming a sharp cone. Its metallic gleam flashed beneath the helicopter lights, exuding a chilling aura that made people shudder.
Hulk pounded his own head, roared at Donnie, and took a slight step back.
Abomination laughed loudly. Destroying the weak thrilled him, and his boundless strength filled him with confidence. He feared no monster or demon. Abomination sneered, "Does it hurt? A few hours ago, I was in even more pain than you. That was the helpless wailing of the weak. That feeling would break anyone."
Abomination spread his arms and roared at the sky. Hulk had once crippled him with a single punch, but now his heart was filled with exhilaration. He had power. He would destroy the military and wipe out all resistance. He would become the god of this world, triumphant and full of ambition.
"Then go die," Donnie said. He did not continue arguing with Abomination about slaughtering innocents. It was meaningless to either side.
Only battle remained, a fight to the death. With such deep hatred between them, whoever survived would naturally be justice.
The Spark in his mind kept leaping. Optimus Prime’s existence filled Donnie’s heart with peace and strength. This was power that belonged to him alone, an inheritance of his family’s will.
Optimus Prime charged at Abomination. His astonishing power struck the ground, instantly cracking it apart. The shrieking friction made ordinary people dizzy. Optimus Prime swung his right arm in a full arc, moving with astonishing speed as he viciously drove it into Abomination’s chest, spraying filthy blood everywhere.
Abomination screamed in agony, the sound incomparably shrill. Caught off guard, even he suffered a devastating wound. What hurt him even more was that the powerful body he had prided himself on as immortal had actually been damaged by this lump of metal.
"That’s impossible! I’m invincible! You blasphemous worm, kneel before your god!"
Abomination flew into a rage. Roaring, he seized Optimus Prime with his thick hands, trying to rip off Optimus Prime’s right arm.
The unimaginable strength made him invincible beneath this sky. Before that unbelievable force, most of Optimus Prime’s right arm was torn away in an instant, and the entire cone weapon was destroyed.
Donnie’s expression grew grave, and he became somewhat nervous. The cone weapon had been formed from the hardest metal on Optimus Prime’s body, repeatedly compressed and mixed with some Spark Energy.
After piercing Abomination’s chest, the cone weapon had already been mostly ruined. Now it was completely torn off.
"You, die!" Abomination charged forward, intent on killing Optimus Prime.
Donnie was pushed to the brink. The Spark in his mind leaped wildly, and countless amounts of Spark Energy poured into Optimus Prime as if it cost nothing. Before that energy, Optimus Prime’s body was rapidly strengthened.
With a thunderous boom, Optimus Prime was blasted far away. But Spark Energy had reinforced his metal body. Though part of his chest was slightly damaged and caved in, its hardness was nothing like before.
Spark Energy could also affect Donnie himself. Clinging to Optimus Prime, he was not injured again.
Donnie controlled Optimus Prime and charged in once more, fighting Abomination in a crazed, life-or-death battle.
The road twisted and shattered, while vehicles on it were kicked around like toys, flying through the air.
Abomination eyed Donnie, repeatedly wanting to crush him with one punch. Catch the leader first, and the rest would fall apart. But Donnie was alert to that. Seizing an opportunity, he escaped to a distance to protect himself while controlling Optimus Prime to fight Abomination and hold him firmly in place.
Left with no choice, Abomination grabbed Optimus Prime and relentlessly pummeled him, intending to destroy the metal lump first.
Optimus Prime was only three meters tall now. Fighting Abomination, who stood over three meters tall, head-on put him at a severe disadvantage. He was constantly damaged, but Donnie had no choice. He could only frantically send Spark Energy from afar to repair him while dividing his attention to control him against Abomination.
Optimus Prime’s original body was a small truck. Its tonnage and materials had always been limited.
Donnie also discovered that what he called "repairing" was actually the transfer of components. Metal that had been completely destroyed could not be repaired. It could only be discarded, while intact components were shifted from other parts of Optimus Prime’s body to fill the gaps. For example, Donnie could not create metal out of thin air to restore the right arm that had just been torn apart. He could only make temporary replacements and assemble a new arm. The longer they fought, the more fragile the body became. Sooner or later, it would collapse under the blows.
Even worse, his Mutant ability had only just awakened, and he was still unskilled in using it. He was continuously pouring out energy to strengthen and repair Optimus Prime, transmitting it through the air, with vast amounts of Spark Energy wasted in the atmosphere. Although Donnie’s talent was extraordinarily powerful and shocked the world, his actual combat strength now depended largely on Optimus Prime himself.
"Hulk!"
Hulk finally shook off the aftereffects of the drugs and charged in with a roar, rushing straight at Abomination. He wanted to join Optimus Prime in attacking Abomination and kill their opponent in one blow.
"Hulk…" Donnie murmured.
