He Is Not a Hero

Bang.

Bang.

Bang.

One after another, black yin spirits, cursed spirits, and Grudge Spirits exploded. The Cocoon of Greed around Bai Cangshu’s body grew increasingly thick, and visible black Spiritual Pressure had now begun to emerge.

Just standing there made Fubuki and the others feel heavy-hearted.

The black spirit entities around them sensed their host awakening. That savage aura made these spirits, which had almost nothing left but instinct, once again recall how they had been beaten to death over and over in that pure white Consciousness Space.

Moo!

The yin spirits shrieked, but this time they no longer carried that terrifyingly uniform atmosphere. Instead, they seemed panicked.

Large numbers of yin spirits began fleeing in every direction, not devouring the original body as the Sage had expected.

"The boring warm-up should be about over, shouldn’t it, Mr. Sage…"

Bai Cangshu’s voice passed through the Cocoon of Greed, seemingly carrying the scent of blood. Lilith had not yet felt joy at seeing Mercenary Tao break free before terror seized her.

A dreadful killing intent was boiling over. That cold, bone-piercing killing intent cut endlessly at her skin like blades.

Fubuki suddenly felt pain in her cheek. She raised a hand and touched her temple, where a streak of red stood out glaringly.

"This is…"

Before she could understand what had happened, Lilith had already closed her eyes in despair.

That was right. She had nearly forgotten that Mercenary Tao, whom she had vaguely hoped could defeat the Sage and avenge Loka and Short Hair, was no kindhearted person, much less a "hero"…

Being a hero had merely been a role he played on a whim. His so-called pursuit of interest was more like a perverse amusement.

Mercenary Tao… was also a beast with blood on his hands.

"Miss Fubuki, forget about me. Please escape on your own…"

Lilith’s eyes reddened and her body trembled slightly, yet she still urged a Plot Character to flee for her life.

Even though many Reincarnators believed Plot Characters were merely NPCs, puppets generated by the space using information.

But faced with this beautiful woman who had repeatedly helped her, Lilith still followed her heart and told her to escape alone.

Fubuki lowered her head and saw that this somewhat timid but kind Ability User had eyes full of terror.

Before she could examine what had happened, a terrifying killing intent mixed with an ocean-like aura exploded with a roar.

Fubuki raised both hands. Her telekinesis froze all the air and raging winds before her, but that dreadful pressure still made her feel as if she were swaying in the eye of a storm, her mind nearly being torn away. Strands of tangible killing intent, mixed with that purplish-red unknown energy, continuously battered her body.

Rip!

Her expensive robe was sliced apart, exposing her fair skin. The next second, it too was cut open and began to bleed.

"Run, Miss Fubuki. There are no heroes left here…"

"I… can no longer live…"

Lilith thought of how Loka and Short Hair, who had always tolerated her, were both dead. Yet weak and foolish as she was, she had placed her hopes on Mercenary Tao, whose Fierce Reputation filled the space. She really was… foolish beyond measure.

Someone as foolish, weak, and cowardly as her had no need to keep living…

This woman, who had always been timid yet longed for even the slightest hope of survival, who prayed from the bottom of her heart for a hero to descend whenever danger came, finally accepted in despair the fact that she could not survive.

She struggled to her feet, spread her arms, and calmly faced the increasingly intense Satsui no Hado.

Before her, the monster wrapped in a crimson phantom was slowly baring its fangs. Purplish-red Satsui no Hado burned and flickered over its body like flames, soon becoming a massive torch that scorched everyone without distinction.

She vaguely saw Mercenary Tao remove something from his ear before being swallowed by a violent surge of energy.

A powerful, cruel man, like a beast.

Lilith looked at him with envy, while her body was continuously corroded by the Satsui no Hado, opening wound after wound.

The wound on her neck, temporarily sealed by Fubuki’s psychic power, burst open again. Blood spurted out, and air began rushing into her lungs.

"After you take my life… please kill the Sage… Mr. Mercenary Tao…"

Lilith closed her eyes. Feeling such terrifying energy fluctuations, Fubuki’s gaze wavered. She looked at Lilith, who was determined to die, then at her subordinates behind her who still had not regained consciousness. Her mind was in chaos. Instinctively, she looked toward where her sister was fighting, but that place was already obscured by a patch of fine black void.

"Damn it, is it this again… When a hero is truly needed, no one appears…"

"Why am I the only one here?"

"I… am so weak…"

Fubuki clenched her pale fist, her nails digging into her palm. By the time blood flowed out, she had already made up her mind.

With an angry shout, her body rose into the air. Her psychic power flung Lilith and Lily of the Three-Section Staff backward, blue light enveloping them as they flew farther and farther away.

As for Fubuki herself, she was instantly corroded by the Satsui no Hado, countless wounds appearing across her body.

"Ha, haha~"

It was as if magma had been poured into his veins, or electric currents were surging through his nerves.

Bai Cangshu’s body convulsed violently. Wounds rapidly appeared across his skin, muscles tore, and blood vessels ruptured, but all of them swiftly healed due to High-Speed Regeneration.

The pain of his body being torn apart and regenerating, combined with the excessive energy coursing through him, stimulated nerves that had been numb for far too long.

"This is the feeling… ha… I can feel it~"

Bai Cangshu’s tone slipped out of control and began to drift upward. It was as if his voice kept rising, while he himself was beginning to lose all sense of self.

But in exchange, he possessed power unlike anything he had ever felt before!

Removing the Satsui Seal: Forbidden would not only increase the level and negative effects of Satsui no Hado, but would also release all the killing intent absorbed while it was worn at once.

For the first time, Bai Cangshu felt the immense energy that seemed ready to spill out of his body. This sensation differed from the abundant Spiritual Pressure he had felt before.

That Soul Power had been entirely passive, something beyond his control.

But now, Satsui no Hado surged endlessly through his body. This energy was impatient to be used, eager to let him kill even more.

Boom!

A violent explosion erupted out of nowhere.

Like a mountain fire erupting, the ground exploded with a thunderous crash.

In an instant, flames that had appeared from nowhere swallowed an area hundreds of meters wide.

Rip~

The next moment, a crimson figure wrapped in red-and-black lightning appeared behind the Sage. The Sage had only just turned his eyes when his head was smashed apart by a single punch.

Red Dust’s pupils trembled. Before the Sage’s splattered brains could even fall, all the air before him had already been emptied. Bone-chilling killing intent drilled into his body through every pore.

Red Dust raised both hands and barely saw Mercenary Tao’s head lifted high, the cruel smile curling at his lips like a cat toying with a mouse.

Bang!

A punch came crashing down. His ice-blue protective aura flared like a gleaming treasured blade, but the purplish-red Satsui no Hado erupted like a meteor.

Boom!

The air exploded, and blazing white smoke clouds spread for thousands of meters. As the ground shattered with a roar, Red Dust was sent flying by an unmatched force.

That energy continued drilling into his arms, twisting the bones in his hands and tearing apart his muscles.

Bang bang bang~

The air behind him exploded continuously. In only an instant, his body had been flung thousands of meters away.

Bai Cangshu drew both hands back to his waist. Intense energy condensed in an instant, and a purplish-red sphere of energy immediately formed with a shrill howl.

Bai Cangshu looked at Red Dust as he was sent flying, then thrust both hands forward.

Dark Hadouken!

Buzz!

The instant that intense energy left his body, it wildly stirred the surrounding air. Heaven and earth darkened, as though even light had been swept away by this blast.

Red Dust felt himself being locked onto from afar. With both hands broken, he wanted to exert force with his feet, but the intense killing intent made every muscle in his body convulse from a distance, and every cell in his body wailed.

Boom!

Within the light of the explosion thousands of meters away, the red-haired man fell straight down.

Bai Cangshu did not even look. He spread his hands, and amid the fierce burning energy, thunderclouds immediately rolled across the sky.

The ions in the atmosphere began to leap wildly. Lightning churned within the clouds, while dark clouds rolled and slanted down toward the earth. In that instant, it was as if the entire sky were pressing down upon the ground.

The dreadful pressure made it feel as though hearts would burst the next second.

Bai Cangshu casually raised his right hand and pointed toward the sky.

Rip!

Lightning illuminated the entire world. Bai Cangshu did not bother to see which person the Sage, who had come back from the dead, had made into a Substitute Death this time. He no longer cared about such things…
