Heavenly Feast, Reincarnators of the Real World
"Lord Mercenary Tao, this is Heavenly Feast. He’s a senior Reincarnator from the Technology Faction, with a chip embedded in his brain whose computing power far exceeds current technological standards. More than seventy percent of his body has been modified, and it’s said that he has also undergone consciousness uploading."
Jin Yue’an appeared inside the Black Tower. She wore a burgundy women’s suit with a crisp white shirt, and her black-rimmed glasses had been replaced with silver-framed ones, making her seem much sharper.
As she operated her tablet and pulled up various files, she introduced him to Bai Cangshu, who floated in the air.
Although she already knew Lord Mercenary Tao’s real name, Jin Yue’an was still accustomed to addressing him by the codename Mercenary Tao.
Bai Cangshu did not mind. He opened his eyes, and fine blue-white arcs of electricity spread through the tower.
Before him stood a man in a white knit sweater. He was of average build, with no visible signs of modification on his body. It was possible that an Avatar was concealing them.
He had medium-length black hair, with long bangs covering the left half of his face. His entire demeanor seemed somewhat gloomy—or rather, excessively calm.
Lord? Have these two watched too much anime…
Mercenary Tao really does possess lightning-based powers, just as the rumors said. After he opened his eyes, the concentration of ions around us nearly doubled. If I were to become his enemy…
Bai Cangshu smiled. The electric currents in the other man’s brain were exceptionally clear, and information flowed through it at tremendous speed. Even while analyzing Bai Cangshu’s strength, he still had the spare capacity to complain internally about how Jin Yue’an addressed him.
This also made Bai Cangshu realize that Heavenly Feast was probably a bit of a "closet flirt"—the sort who was used to mocking people in his head but could not express it aloud.
"You’d better not become my enemy. Even if you truly uploaded your consciousness, I could still kill you~"
Bai Cangshu spoke with a smile and waved a hand, intending to signal for the two of them to sit. Only then did he realize that the top floor of Babel Tower had no furniture whatsoever. He usually floated in the air, sensing Magnetic Field Rotation, and had no need for such things.
Jin Yue’an immediately understood. Pressing her earpiece, she summoned a flickering figure the next moment, who set down folding chairs from his hands.
Mai, dressed in a floral shirt, respectfully nodded to Bai Cangshu and said somewhat nervously,
"I’ll head into the space later and bring back a set of furniture."
Bai Cangshu said nothing. After Jin Yue’an coughed and had Mai leave, she quietly admitted that she had not considered things thoroughly enough.
Heavenly Feast also unfolded a chair and sat down without any discomfort. Internally, he merely mocked Mercenary Tao’s subordinates, who all seemed terrified of him.
He had also already determined that Mercenary Tao possessed some degree of mind-reading ability. He was changing the frequency bands through which his thoughts operated, attempting to avoid having his mind read.
Based on those mental activities, Bai Cangshu acknowledged that the man did indeed possess some ability.
Nowadays, even many Title-level Reincarnators found it difficult to conceal their fear in front of Bai Cangshu. Although Heavenly Feast owed some of his composure to mechanical modification, his temperament was indeed far steadier.
The reason he had appeared here was that Bai Cangshu intended to further standardize Paradise’s management. He was neither skilled at such matters nor did he have time to handle them himself.
Thus, he had Jin Yue’an begin expanding the team here.
Heavenly Feast was the first target they had found.
"Heavenly Feast, show me what you can do. You should know what I want you to do."
Heavenly Feast nodded. Light flashed in his hand, and a silver-white suitcase appeared. When he opened it, there was an apparently antiquated computer device inside. Though it looked outdated, it was a scenario item.
It came from an old interstellar film. Thus, although it appeared ancient and worn-down, its actual capabilities far surpassed modern technology due to the settings and information from that movie.
An interface appeared on his wrist, and a connector quickly linked him to the device. After tapping a few times, he nodded at Jin Yue’an.
Jin Yue’an lowered her head to look at her tablet and discovered that its display had changed.
She handed the tablet to Bai Cangshu. Looking down, he saw footage that seemed to come from a street surveillance camera.
In the footage, thick smoke billowed from a seven- or eight-story building. A blurry figure kept bouncing about, and every time it crashed into the building and emerged again, loud cheers erupted from the surrounding streets.
That was a Reincarnator, using his abilities to save people!
Bai Cangshu narrowed his eyes. Seeing this, Heavenly Feast tapped a few more times. The footage shifted several times and became clearer.
Bai Cangshu watched the faint radiance surrounding the Reincarnator’s body, and a familiar feeling surfaced.
"This guy is… the one with Cosmo enhancement…"
"Skylark. He is most likely the newly advanced High-tier Reincarnator codenamed Skylark from the East District. There are rumors that he single-handedly crushed a moderately famous Third Tier team. It was supposedly… Black Beast."
Heavenly Feast’s ability to retrieve and query information clearly surpassed the database Jin Yue’an had created herself. Not only had he easily consolidated the data and obtained the man’s likely identity, he even knew some privately circulated secrets.
Bai Cangshu recalled that idiot codenamed Skylark in B711 World. He had constantly babbled about being an "Ally of Justice" while repeatedly obstructing him. It had been extremely unpleasant.
He had not expected the man to survive that world as well.
Had Saitama failed to encounter him, or had he… deliberately let him go?
Tch. Idealists really were troublesome people.
He swiped the tablet, and the footage shifted again. This time, it showed a dry expanse of land in Africa, where a group of dark-skinned, gaunt people followed behind a tall old Black man.
Ahead of them, a pride of lions was running.
"Waaaaagh!"
With a thunderous roar, the tall old Black man suddenly turned green. The image immediately blurred, then vanished with a bang.
The footage likely came from some low-altitude aircraft, which had just exploded.
The footage shifted again, now showing a rundown neighborhood. Someone howled as they fired various beams of energy at the walls around them.
Each time massive destruction was caused, cheers like wailing ghosts and howling wolves erupted from the convoy behind them.
Nearly every shift in footage corresponded to Reincarnators carrying out various activities across the world.
Heavenly Feast’s technological abilities could likely capture any footage available through modern technology. With his immense computational power, he could retrieve footage most closely related to Reincarnator activity.
He could even selectively obtain footage of certain more powerful Reincarnators.
"Not bad. You’re very good~"
Bai Cangshu praised him, but his gaze suddenly stopped. Looking at the image on the tablet, he revealed a strange smile.
"Do you want to understand the meaning of life… Do you want to truly… live?"
"YES OR NO"
A page resembling a virus pop-up appeared on the tablet. Bai Cangshu showed it to Heavenly Feast, who also revealed a surprised expression.
He immediately took it.
"That shouldn’t be possible. I haven’t detected any relevant electronic frequency bands, and there shouldn’t be any technology on Earth capable of intercepting my information…"
The electronic chip in his brain rapidly analyzed the situation and immediately produced a result.
"It’s a Reincarnator’s ability… Someone is spreading this meme on a massive scale through the internet?!"
He had originally intended to click OR and examine the returning information bands, but he no longer dared to do so. He realized that there was likely some terrifying power behind it.
Perhaps this thing was not a method of the Technology Faction at all.
Jin Yue’an frowned as well and immediately took out a new tablet.
"My lord, we will quickly find out who is doing this."
She knew that Heavenly Feast had already gained Mercenary Tao’s approval and was preparing to work with him to digitize Paradise’s internal operations.
In the future, this Paradise City would be transformed into a technological, modular entity similar to Academy City. That was the conclusion she and the March Group’s think tank had reached after their analysis.
Once Paradise matured, Miss Li Qingzi would move here together with The Agency.
Bai Cangshu waved a hand and allowed the two to leave. He stood by the window at the top of the tower, watching the distant sky.
The Reincarnators of this world had not stopped. Everyone was changing the world in their own way.
A New World was arriving at an unprecedented speed. The future of ordinary people might soon be transformed.
Bai Cangshu’s eyes were full of amusement. He liked such a world. As for that pop-up just now, whether it was a meme from the world of Infinite Horror or someone else’s handiwork, he found it quite to his liking.
That person was most likely a madman too, but this was exactly what such an era needed.
How could one survive without madness? Without descending into madness, how could one truly live~
