Here Is Very ‘Safe’

"So that’s how it is, so that’s how it is…" Pietro kept repeating the words, his emotions gradually growing more agitated.

Though Pietro looked like an unreliable troubled teen, he was not stupid at all. On the contrary, the super-brain granted by his mutant abilities allowed him to figure out many things quickly.

His mind raced through memories, constantly comparing the similarities and differences between the two worlds. Coupled with what Zhang Ye had previously told him about other universes, Pietro’s eyes grew brighter and brighter.

The two worlds were very similar, yet vastly different. This was not merely reflected in Peter Parker. This world also had the Avengers and Tony Stark, but they were not extremist terrorists. They were superheroes who saved people and protected world peace.

This world also had Thor and Doctor Strange, but they were not madmen immersed in delusions. They were genuinely powerful beings capable of commanding wind and rain and wielding magic.

It was different. Everything was different!

"What’s wrong with him?" Kara was puzzled. She did not understand why Pietro had suddenly gone mad.

"It’s nothing. He just figured some things out," Zhang Ye said casually.

Every universe was connected, yet different. Although Zhang Ye was not a physics expert and had rarely learned about theories concerning parallel universes in his previous life, after truly coming to this world and personally experiencing several universes, he had formed some views about the differences between universes in the Multiverse.

Generally speaking, most parallel universes were filled with hope. Even if disasters and sacrifices had occurred, heroes would always overcome those difficulties with unwavering will. That was what Zhang Ye admired most.

But there were always exceptions. Where there was light, there was darkness. Opposing those Multiverses beneath the light were the Dark Multiverses, which had sunk into despair and could not escape.

Previously, Zhang Ye had always scoffed at the term "Dark Multiverse."

But after personally experiencing Pietro’s Ruined Universe, Zhang Ye began to take these ominous, chaotic Multiverses seriously once more.

"No wonder you said my universe wasn’t worth saving. Now that I think about it, that really is the truth." Pietro slumped onto the sofa and let out a heavy sigh.

"It’s good that you understand." Zhang Ye walked over to Pietro’s side and comfortingly patted his shoulder. "When hope no longer exists and heroes become madmen, it is only a matter of time before the civilization there perishes."

"I know, but I just can’t understand why that universe fell so far." Pietro was unwilling to accept it.

Seeing Pietro’s dispirited expression, Zhang Ye felt helpless as well. After seeing this universe full of hope, Pietro would inevitably draw baseless comparisons to the tragic events that had occurred in the universe where he was born.

Even Zhang Ye did not know how to comfort him. After all, that universe was Pietro’s universe. Pietro had a basic sense of belonging there, something neither Zhang Ye nor Kara could truly understand.

"Alright, don’t dwell on what’s already passed. We’ve come to a new world. We should look ahead on the road before us. Enjoying the present is what matters most."

After listening to Zhang Ye’s advice, Pietro pondered for a moment before nodding firmly. "Zhang, you’re right. I should move on. I don’t belong there. I belong here, in the little group we’ve formed. You’re my family. This is my home."

Seeing Pietro regain his spirits, Zhang Ye could not help but smile. "That’s my good brother. We just saved a universe and finally made it to such a wonderful place. We should enjoy ourselves properly."

"Mm." Pietro and Kara exchanged smiles, and the atmosphere became much livelier.

Seeing smiles return to their faces, Zhang Ye naturally took out two cups and poured them some tea.

"Don’t worry. It’s very safe here."

"…It’s already not safe here!"

At the intersection of Forty-Second Street and Madison Avenue, on the top floor of the Baxter Building, Cable clenched his fists tightly as he stared at the enraging scene before him.

The Baxter Building was a towering, massive base owned by the Fantastic Four. It contained research labs, supercomputer rooms, and other facilities for experiments, along with countless high-tech creations. It could be said that this was one of the most technologically advanced places in the world.

As the first superhero team to emerge in the world, the Fantastic Four’s headquarters was located here.

They had converted the top few floors of the Baxter Building into living quarters. The Fantastic Four usually lived their daily lives here, enjoying a wonderful life while carrying out cutting-edge technological research.

But at this moment, this incomparably luxurious place had become the scene of a brutal murder.

In the room of Mister Fantastic, Reed Richards’s two children, his eldest son Franklin and youngest daughter Valeria, had sunk forever into sleep and would never awaken again. At the doorway, their mother, the Invisible Woman Susan, lay in a pool of blood.

"The killer struck after they had fallen asleep. The wounds were all in the heart, fatal in a single blow." Moon Knight briefly examined the two children’s bodies and summarized the killer’s method. "This person had a clear target. He came for the two children."

"What kind of beast could do something so utterly insane?" Kate, the second Hawkeye, breathed rapidly. She had a good relationship with the Fantastic Four and was often invited to gatherings. When she saw such a cruel scene, fury instantly surged from the depths of her heart.

"They were good people. This kind of tragedy should never have happened to them."

"But it already has." Cable gritted his teeth. "If we can’t find this criminal quickly, then other superheroes will be targeted next."

"We shouldn’t keep this matter buried anymore. Nick Fury simply doesn’t understand how serious this is. We have to notify the other superheroes, or everyone will be in danger." Kate could not help but speak up.

"How do you expect us to tell them? This has been going on for so long, and many of our friends have already died. If we tell the others now that we suppressed the news and investigated on our own, do you think they won’t come after us?"

Kate was so angry that she laughed. "Then we just keep hiding it? Our investigation has achieved nothing. We still don’t have any useful information. Are we supposed to use other people’s lives as clues to solve this case!?"

While everyone argued, Moon Knight continued studying the scene, trying to find traces of the killer and determine how he had committed such a massacre without alerting anyone.

After carefully piecing it together in his mind, Moon Knight slowly rose to his feet. In a grave tone, he interrupted the others’ argument.

"I know how the killer murdered them."
