Hidden Identity

"I’m so furious."

While Gu Sheng was sharing his innermost feelings with Mei Daizi and Xin’er, an angry beauty lifted the tent flap and walked in.

"Hmm? Uchiha brat, what are you doing in Mei Daizi’s tent? And isn’t this Xin’er?"

Tsunade stared in astonishment at Gu Sheng, who was lying on Mei Daizi’s bed and enjoying the highest level of care. Her anger flared at once.

"Big Sis!"

A little tagalong followed behind Tsunade. After entering the tent and seeing Gu Sheng, she cried out happily, "Lord Sheng, so Big Sis Mei Daizi brought you back here to recuperate!"

"Wait!"

Tsunade walked to the head of Gu Sheng’s bed and looked down at him with obvious displeasure. "Brat, why are you here? Don’t tell me you shamelessly took advantage of our Big Sis Mei Daizi."

Mei Daizi was older than Tsunade. As her aide, she also managed Tsunade’s daily life in perfect order, earning the future female Hokage’s deep affection. Seeing Mei Daizi taking such attentive care of Gu Sheng made Tsunade unhappy. It felt as though her big sister was being stolen away.

Mei Daizi bowed to Tsunade. "Miss Tsunade, Lord Sheng’s injuries are serious, and he’s also Nawaki’s lifesaver. The camp is too noisy for recuperation, so I brought him back here to look after him."

"Even if he’s Nawaki’s lifesaver, you don’t have to treat him this well! Brat, did you threaten her?"

Tsunade glared unhappily at Gu Sheng. As long as Mei Daizi answered yes, she was prepared to throw him out. Such a wonderful caretaker should belong to Princess Tsunade alone!

"No, Mei Daizi took the initiative. Lord Sheng is a very nice boy!"

Mei Daizi smiled sweetly. When she saw Gu Sheng hold out his hand, she hurriedly picked up the teacup beside her and brought it to his lips, leaving him with nowhere to put his hand.

"Isn’t this going too far? You’ve never treated me this well."

Tsunade shouted in dissatisfaction. Seeing Gu Sheng’s look of enjoyment only made her even more annoyed.

"All right, Miss Tsunade. The patient still needs to rest, so please don’t make so much noise. What did you want to talk to me about? Let’s go outside."

Mei Daizi smiled as she set down the teacup and pulled Tsunade out of the tent.

"Lord Sheng! See you tomorrow!"

Chu Xin bowed politely to Gu Sheng before leaving the tent as well. For now, she had better not reveal too much about her relationship with Gu Sheng. Taking things one step at a time would avoid arousing suspicion.

"Nawaki, what’s wrong with your sister? She looks like she swallowed gunpowder."

Leaning against the headboard, Gu Sheng asked Nawaki, who was standing to the side. He already had a few guesses in mind.

"What else could it be? Those stubborn Advisory Elders!"

Nawaki spoke angrily. "At the temporary war council, Sis proposed the Medical Ninja Reform System, but those people all opposed it. They made her very unhappy.

"Some of them even said nasty things, like claiming the system was meant to protect me or something~~"

Nawaki was furious too. Although Tsunade had proposed the Medical Ninja Reform System partly because of him, she had done it even more out of public duty. Yet now, people were maliciously twisting her intentions and making those kinds of remarks.

A trace of understanding flashed through Gu Sheng’s eyes. He casually asked, "So what does your sister plan to do?"

Nawaki had no intention of hiding it from Gu Sheng. "She’s planning to formally submit the proposal to the commander-in-chief and the Advisory Elders at the high-level war council in three years."

"The high-level council? Then…"

Gu Sheng nodded and asked Nawaki a few more questions. By then, he had already formed some plans.

"Nawaki, someone is here to see this brat!"

Tsunade’s voice came from outside. Nawaki looked toward the entrance as a young man who looked somewhat similar to Gu Sheng’s current body, and seemed to be around seventeen or eighteen, walked in.

"Nawaki, you can go out."

After seeing the man, Gu Sheng said this to Nawaki.

"Oh~"

Nawaki glanced at the man in surprise. He did not understand why this Uchiha big shot had come to see Gu Sheng, a nobody who had only just awakened his Sharingan.

"You look pretty well, Little Sheng!"

The man walked to the head of Gu Sheng’s bed and carefully examined his condition. A pair of Three Tomoe Sharingan studied him from head to toe.

"There’s no need for you to trouble yourself, Lord Fugaku!"

Gu Sheng replied indifferently, turning to size up the future clan leader of the Uchiha Clan.

"Are you still dissatisfied with Father’s arrangement, little brother?"

If Uchiha Fugaku’s words got out, they would probably cause quite a stir. Gu Sheng’s current body was actually Uchiha Fugaku’s younger brother.

"Little brother? I’m only an illegitimate son who can’t be acknowledged in public. What right do I have to be the younger brother of you, the clan heir?"

Gu Sheng smiled faintly. This hidden identity of his was actually quite special within the Uchiha Clan. He did not know whether the Lord God had arranged it deliberately, but it had somehow tied him to Uchiha Fugaku.

Like the Hyuga Clan, the Uchiha Clan was also divided into the Main Family and Branch Family. However, unlike the Hyuga, the Uchiha Clan considered anyone who awakened their eyes part of the Main Family.

The relationship between Uchiha Sheng and Uchiha Fugaku resembled that between Zhao Tai and Zhao Gang—the Zhao family heir—in the movie The Big Shot: one was an illegitimate son, while the other was the legitimate heir. The disparity in their status made their relationship extremely strained.

Back then, Uchiha Fugaku and Uchiha Sheng’s father had intended to place Uchiha Sheng, who had yet to awaken his eyes, in the Main Family and nurture him as a potential successor. However, the elders opposed and rejected the idea, with Uchiha Fugaku’s mother playing a major role in it.

In the end, as an illegitimate son who could not be acknowledged in public, Uchiha Sheng could not enjoy the treatment due to a clan leader’s son. He was assigned to the Ninja Academy as a low-ranking member of the Branch Family. Not only did he receive none of the privileges, he even suffered some suppression.

"Little brother, I know you harbor resentment. I was careless this time. I shouldn’t have transferred you to patrol the rear. I thought it would be safe there~"

Uchiha Fugaku hurriedly explained. Before their father died, he had specifically asked Fugaku to take care of his younger brother. He also felt guilty toward him, so he had looked after him quite attentively afterward.

Uchiha Sheng’s (Gu Sheng’s) joining the rear patrol unit should have been perfectly safe. There was usually no enemy activity behind Konoha’s main camp, but nobody could have expected the Sunagakure Shinobi to ambush Orochimaru.

"All right, I know you meant well."

Gu Sheng waved his hand, cutting off Uchiha Fugaku’s explanation. His newly awakened Single Tomoe constantly swept over the surroundings of the tent as he tried to determine whether anyone was spying on them. "Is anyone watching us?"

"No!"

Hearing Gu Sheng say that, Uchiha Fugaku grew alert. He carefully examined the surroundings with his Three Tomoe before shaking his head.

"Good. I have something very important to tell you."

Gu Sheng sensed the surroundings carefully again. He even used the methods of the Internal Fist. Only after confirming that nobody could overhear them did he finally relax.
