Hunter, Prey

"The more chaotic a place is, the more it understands the essence of survival. If you want to stay alive, the most important thing isn’t morality, rule of law, human rights, or propriety, but… power."

A man in a loose white T-shirt spoke eloquently on the second floor of an extravagant wooden house with a distinctly tropical style.

The wooden house had been built on stilts, raised considerably above the ground. Its second floor was already as high as the third floor of other buildings. Looking out, one could see the tops of the forest outside, like a lush green sea.

Dozens of rifles and submachine guns were aimed at him, the soldiers’ fingers resting on their triggers. At a single command from the general, they would turn this handsome, tall, strange man into a sieve.

Yet Saw Win, dark-skinned and not particularly tall himself, did not bring his raised hand down. His expression was grim as he watched the foreigner who had suddenly appeared in his residence.

One look at that face was enough to tell that he was an East Xia Person.

Saw Win disliked East Xia People, but at this moment, an inexplicable chill ran through him. Just looking at the man standing by the window made him feel as though the most venomous snake had coiled around his body.

Bai Cangshu turned around. Seeing that the general remained silent, he frowned. He had clearly already lowered the intensity of his Satsui no Hado; the man should not have been rendered unable to speak.

He walked up to the silent Saw Win, bent down, and brought his face within less than a meter of the other man’s.

"Do you disagree with me?"

Saw Win felt an icy aura abruptly appear before him. He instinctively swung his right hand, and in the next instant, a storm of gunfire erupted.

Bang, bang, bang, bang…

Muzzle flashes nearly flooded the room. Saw Win’s legs trembled twice as he wriggled backward, preparing to retreat somewhere safe first.

There had been so much news about Ability Users lately—how could he not know about them? Rather, it was the Myanmar military that had first come into contact with such Ability Users. Over the past half year, quite a few regional armies had reported intelligence on similar "special forces soldiers" and "superhumans."

This guy had appeared before him so abruptly. Saw Win knew that he was most likely one of those Ability Users.

Ability Users were all dangerous. He did not agree with Korea’s approach, nor had he ever seen any Ability User claiming to protect this country. Ability Users were all dangerous thugs.

Crack!

A hand reached out from the smoke and grabbed Saw Win by the shoulder. He felt the flesh of his shoulder instantly pierced through. That hand drove into his shoulder socket like a steel spike. The intense pain robbed him of all strength in an instant; he could not even struggle or tremble as he was hauled up.

"Stop! Cease fire! Stop at once!"

He immediately shouted the order. His personal guards were extremely loyal and promptly stopped firing.

Whoosh!

A gust of wind swept through, as if someone had exhaled deeply. Yet a powerful current of air truly surged in, dispersing the smoke from the gunfire throughout the room in an instant.

The man stood there completely unharmed.

"I asked, do you disagree with me?"

The other man asked again. Saw Win hurriedly nodded. From the corner of his eye, he saw that the bullets had blasted apart the wooden building’s window along with the entire wall around it, yet the other man had been completely unaffected.

This guy was on a completely different level from the few Ability Users he had previously ordered his troops to surround and kill.

"Yes, you’re right!"

Bai Cangshu received his answer, but any interest in having a proper conversation with the man had completely vanished.

He had only felt a little sentimental because Myanmar was such a chaotic country. Its president and prime minister had both been completely sidelined, while actual power now rested entirely in the hands of the deputy commander-in-chief of the entire military before him and another, higher-ranking commander-in-chief.

He had thought that someone who had gained supreme power through the barrel of a gun should be more "reasonable," and that after witnessing his strength, he would obediently cooperate.

But…

Humans were still so foolish in the end.

He gripped the man’s shoulder and slowly lifted him up before saying,

"In three days, someone will announce that the world’s first Paradise City belonging to Ability Users will be established on the border between Myanmar and East Xia. At that time, I hope you will be present and declare that Myanmar will never obstruct anyone from entering or leaving this city."

"I…"

Saw Win instinctively tried to speak, but after Bai Cangshu lost his good mood, Satsui no Hado had already begun continuously circling the man’s body.

"Shh… Think carefully before you speak, General. Sometimes, an opportunity only comes once."

Click. The sound of a bullet being chambered rang out again. A dark-skinned young man stepped forward, pressing a silver-white firearm against Bai Cangshu’s forehead.

"You dare threaten the general?!"

Splat!

Flesh and blood exploded like fireworks. Saw Win blinked, and everything before him had turned crimson. Bancha, who had just been so hot-blooded and loyal, was left with only the portion below his waist, collapsed on the floor.

The other personal guards were shocked, then clenched their triggers again.

Bai Cangshu watched bullet after bullet spin through the air toward him, tearing through the atmosphere. At his current level, he could see such speeds perfectly clearly.

This time, Bai Cangshu did not spare their lives by turning into wind.

Jet-black Armament Haki covered his entire body.

Clang, clang, clang…

After the dense gunfire, Radiant Flame ignited. The personal guards screamed as they fell to the ground, rolling around for only a few moments before falling completely silent.

The Radiant Flame continued to burn. The foul flesh emitted a strange stench as it was roasted, but Saw Win did not vomit. He was simply so terrified that his face had gone pale.

Bai Cangshu slowly released his right hand, wiped the blood off on Saw Win’s uniform, and said,

"You’re rather lucky. It seems Ability Users have already become common knowledge here…"

Bai Cangshu had passively revealed his special ability, yet it had not triggered the Infinite Dimensional Space’s purification mission. Saw Win was therefore allowed to survive.

"But that kind of luck does not come often."

With a thud, Saw Win slid off his chair and sprawled on the floor.

"I understand… I understand!"

He no longer dared to resist.

Bai Cangshu nodded and prepared to leave, but after thinking for a moment, he added,

"Tell that commander-in-chief later that if he disagrees, I’ll have you replace him."

Bai Cangshu then walked onto the balcony, bent his body, and with a bang, shot directly into the sky. The wooden building groaned with cracking sounds, as though it could no longer bear the strain.

Saw Win hurriedly fled downstairs.

When Bai Cangshu returned to the Paradise, Mai, the reincarnator with the Teleportation superpower, was already waiting there.

After learning that the master here was Mercenary Tao, he had not completely fled the country as he had previously claimed he would. On the contrary, after doing two things for Mercenary Tao, he had stayed behind.

Now, he looked like a loyal lackey following Bai Cangshu around.

"Lord Mercenary Tao, you could have let me handle such a trivial matter."

He rubbed his hands together, seemingly wanting to prove himself.

But before he could continue flattering him, a woman in black-rimmed glasses stepped out of a car. Her eyes gave him an uncomfortable feeling.

"Sir, Miss Li has prepared the things you requested."

Bai Cangshu nodded. He had indeed begun to enjoy some of the benefits of building up a force. Some minor matters no longer required him to repeatedly enter and leave the space himself.

There would naturally be reincarnators who could help resolve them.

For example, purchasing a new set of Directional Anchor Record Pointers to lock onto White Face—Jin Yue’an had already sent someone to handle that for him.

As they entered the rather lavish golden manor, Jin Yue’an quietly reminded him,

"Black Butler said that the Type-Moon World is somewhat unusual. There is intelligence suggesting that reincarnators who enter that world through abnormal means will receive some unpleasant treatment. Should you postpone this plan, sir…?"

She put it tactfully, but Black Butler’s actual words were that the Type-Moon World posed great danger to reincarnators who entered through abnormal means. There had been quite a few cases in the past where pursuers entered the Type-Moon World and ultimately perished alongside their targets.

The world’s Restraining Force was extremely active, constantly interfering with the course of the world. At the same time, many unpredictable timelines existed there.

As a Derivative World, it was probably one of the most variable ones, with one of the widest fluctuations in difficulty.

Black Butler, Jin Yue’an, and Li Qingzi all did not want Bai Cangshu to enter that world to hunt down White Face.

But Bai Cangshu merely curled his lips into a mocking smile.

"That’s precisely why that person so easily let you track them~"

Jin Yue’an’s pupils contracted, but Bai Cangshu’s smile became even more derisive.

Within the Infinite Dimensional Space, White Face sat upon a high throne in her Private Space. Her Private Space had been arranged to resemble an ancient imperial court.

"Hahaha, Jin Ruohai is so amusing. He actually thought he had fooled me…"

"And those few idiots too. Tsk, tsk, none of them are very smart."

Her eyes were unfocused, as though she were looking at the cunning Mercenary Tao from her memories.

"If it’s you, you should know that was a flaw I deliberately exposed, right? So, do you dare come after me, Mercenary Tao…"

"Heh~"
