Hydra’s Version of the Avengers
"America became the most powerful country in the world and was respected by all other nations, not because we exploited and oppressed them, but because we were able to bring them civilization and freedom!"
Steve, dressed in Captain America’s uniform, was raising his fist and shouting among the crowd.
"In the past, the people of Africa needed us, so we brought them milk and bread. Since the people of Africa no longer need us, we’ll keep all the support originally sent to Africa here in the United States and use it for the American people…"
Alexander closed the laptop, and Steve’s voice abruptly cut off in the video.
"You mean turning the alien invasion into Captain America’s personal show?"
Sitting across from him was none other than John Garrett, the current director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
"That’s right."
John leisurely sipped his coffee and said with a smile:
"When the aliens invade, what could stir the people’s hearts more than a presidential candidate personally leading the charge? Could our competitors possibly have a better way to raise public support?"
"But setting the space gate’s opening point in New York is far too risky. If anything goes wrong, this place could end up drenched in blood!"
Alexander strongly approved of the idea, but he still had serious doubts about its execution.
"Don’t worry. I asked Loki about it. Those alien mercenaries do have higher-level technology than us, but their individual combat power definitely can’t compare to the Magnetic Field Warriors. They might not even match the Current Drive warriors."
John spoke with complete confidence. "Victory will belong to us."
"Is Loki trustworthy?" Alexander asked hesitantly.
John sipped his coffee, carefully considering his words. After a moment, he answered:
"I can’t say he’s completely trustworthy. But when it comes to the aliens, I believe he shouldn’t have lied to me. Perhaps he or Asgard has a grudge against those aliens and plans to borrow our hands to kill them. That’s also possible."
Alexander nodded in satisfaction. "Those are minor issues and won’t affect the overall plan. As long as we confirm that no enemy we can’t handle will appear, it’ll be fine."
"It shouldn’t happen. Besides, if we really can’t hold them back, perhaps…" As he spoke, he lifted his eyelids, tilted his head, and gestured toward the Martial Arts School.
"Tsk!" Alexander suddenly felt a toothache coming on.
"Don’t tell me you’re thinking about Zhan Liu? Although that guy is much easier to talk to than Magneto, he’s still impossible to sway."
"Don’t worry. When the time comes, it’ll be Zhan Liu’s disciple begging his own master for help. What does that have to do with us? Besides, if Zhan Liu really gets angry, someone from S.H.I.E.L.D. will naturally take the blame. What does it have to do with Hydra?"
"Haha… You’re right! This is S.H.I.E.L.D.’s job in the first place. Director Garrett, you’ve worked hard." Alexander burst out laughing, and the worry in his heart completely vanished.
Although Zhan Liu had a warped sense of right and wrong, acted without restraint, and never showed consideration for anyone, with countless other flaws besides, at least there was one thing about him that could be trusted.
His combat power was absolutely high enough!
With Zhan Liu backing them up, this operation was as good as secured.
"When carrying this out, it must look like an accident. Don’t let it come back to bite you afterward and lead people to your door. Especially Nick Fury. Although he’s no longer the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., he must have plenty of personal resources that he never handed over to you."
As Nick Fury’s former superior, Alexander knew Nick’s capabilities very well, which naturally made him even more vigilant.
John turned serious. "Don’t worry. Nick and I have been friends for many years, so I wouldn’t dare underestimate his abilities. I’ve already chosen the people to take the blame. They’re from Rising Tide, and they’re Magnetic Field Warriors."
"In that case, it does make sense. Those people from Rising Tide are overly curious and are always trying to expose secrets the government has hidden. They also like tracking down evidence of aliens. Summoning aliens to Earth would be entirely plausible and reasonable for them."
Alexander nodded in satisfaction before moving on to another question.
"Captain America’s combat power isn’t superior. Many Magnetic Field Warriors are stronger than him. Won’t someone steal his spotlight when the time comes?"
"That problem is easy to solve as well. What we need is for Captain America to be the first to step forward and lead the charge. Once the battle begins, we just need to send him in first. As for the fighting afterward, I’ll naturally arrange for people to support him nearby. The cameras will only point at him. No matter how well anyone else performs, no one outside the battlefield will see it. All the credit will go to him. He doesn’t actually need to win MVP on the battlefield."
"What about the media? How will you deal with them? There are plenty of media outlets in New York, and the other outlets won’t show us any respect. If they film recklessly, it’ll definitely affect our publicity."
John had clearly already made preparations before coming. At that moment, he answered Alexander’s question with complete confidence.
"I’ve thought of that too. After the battle begins, I’ll arrange for several people to move around the battlefield. They won’t actually participate in the fighting. They’ll just keep an eye on the media. Anyone who doesn’t film Captain America will have their equipment secretly sabotaged. With stray bullets flying everywhere on a battlefield, a few damaged cameras would be perfectly normal."
Alexander asked several more detailed questions, and all of them received perfect answers. He finally relaxed and laughed heartily.
"Haha… Good. You’ve thought this through very thoroughly. In that case, I have no more questions. You can begin preparing the plan. Once everything is ready, gather everyone for a meeting so we can discuss how to coordinate with one another."
"After this alien invasion is over, there should be no suspense surrounding Steve’s presidency. Replacing the president of the world’s strongest nation with one of our own will move Hydra’s plan to conquer the world another huge step forward. Director Garrett, you’ve made an indispensable contribution. I’ll leave everything to you."
"Everything is for Hydra! Long live Hydra!"
"Long live Hydra!"
After the two parted ways, Loki, who had been invisibly following beside John the entire time, was delighted.
He had originally followed John to guide him whenever necessary and push him toward opening the gate to summon the aliens, but instead he had overheard such an astonishing secret.
However, he had no interest in exposing those secrets. What interested him more was how he could profit from the situation.
Hydra?
This organization is rather interesting.
Devoted to conquering the world—that suits him perfectly.
Perhaps he could poach some of Hydra’s people and establish a power of his own in Midgard.
Since Hydra has so many heads, surely they wouldn’t mind adding one more?
