I Never Expected You to Be This Kind of Professor Snape
It took quite some effort before Adam managed to prove his strength to the two professors.
After witnessing Adam’s abilities, Professor Flitwick no longer objected to him becoming Headmaster. Professor Sprout still had some reservations—mainly about themselves.
"This should have been for us to resolve, not for a child to face all of this… Under normal circumstances, you should have been enjoying another two years of school life on campus."
Adam smiled as he accepted Professor Sprout’s embrace, gently patting her back in reassurance.
"Severus is on his way back. As for Minerva… my Patronus couldn’t find her just now."
Professor Dumbledore looked at the two Heads of House. Anger appeared on both Professor Flitwick’s and Professor Sprout’s faces.
"That Umbridge woman took advantage of everyone being busy with exams to send people to arrest Hagrid. Minerva tried to stop them, but… she was struck by at least three spells and is now recovering at St. Mungo’s."
"This is precisely why I want to become Headmaster, Professors."
Adam frowned. He had been taking an exam at the time, and he did not remember this happening at all. Then he said,
"The Ministry of Magic is becoming more and more excessive in order to protect its own power. Hogwarts needs to eliminate interference from the Ministry."
"But if we do that, won’t we be going to war with the Ministry of Magic?"
"And the funding from the Board of Governors will probably be affected as well…"
"It’s fine. I’ll handle the funding issue. At the very least, Hogwarts will never lack money during my term. As for going to war…"
Adam smiled faintly.
"Fudge had better pray it never comes to that."
Everyone could not help but look at him in surprise, including the portraits.
"Violence is not the means to solve problems…"
Professor Dumbledore reminded him.
"If I’m not mistaken, when you dueled Mr. Grindelwald back then, you did not defeat him through words alone."
Adam shook his head and looked at Professor Dumbledore.
"Mercy toward one’s enemies is merely cruelty toward oneself. If Fudge truly becomes mad enough to use force against Hogwarts, then I will tell him—he has the right to choose to start a war, but the right to decide how it ends lies in the hands of the stronger force."
Adam took out an Elder Wand and slapped it onto the desk, then looked at Professor Flitwick and Professor Sprout.
"So, Professors, starting next term, everyone can return to their normal lives. There will be no need to worry about anything outside, no need to worry about the Ministry of Magic. Everyone can attend classes, hold banquets, play Quidditch, just as before… We haven’t held a Spring Festival Gala in two years."
"That’s… wonderful!"
Relaxed smiles appeared on the faces of both Heads of House.
Professor Flitwick and Professor Sprout were not overly surprised upon seeing the Elder Wand. When Adam had demonstrated his strength earlier, Professor Dumbledore had already said that Adam had defeated him.
But Professor Dumbledore was somewhat stunned, reaching out to touch his own Elder Wand.
The one in Adam’s hand is the Elder Wand. Then what is mine…?
Adam: Yours is the female one… Ahem. Of course, it’s the Elder Wand I copied before you lost to me. It still recognizes you as its master~
The Headmaster’s Office fell silent for a moment. Although Adam’s attitude was somewhat aggressive, after a year of Umbridge’s devastation, he had undeniably given them a considerable sense of security.
It was no less than when Dumbledore had been here before… No—
Professor Flitwick and Professor Sprout glanced at Professor Dumbledore.
When it came to dealing with the Ministry of Magic, Adam gave them an even greater sense of security than Dumbledore did.
Just then, the door to the Headmaster’s Office opened once more.
"Why did you call me back so urgently?"
Seeing the people in the office, Professor Snape’s frown deepened.
"You should know that I’m very busy right now."
The plan had failed. The prophecy’s crystal orb had been shattered. Harry Potter had been rescued by the suddenly appearing Dumbledore, and Voldemort had just finished venting his fury at them.
Although he was deeply trusted, it was still quite dangerous for Professor Snape to return now.
"Severus, I know you are carrying an important mission, but this matter truly is important… Let me introduce you to Hogwarts’s new Headmaster—Adam Reed."
Professor Dumbledore patted Adam on the shoulder.
In that instant, Professor Snape’s expression became so complicated that it was impossible to describe in words.
If it had to be put into writing, even a three-foot-long piece of parchment would have struggled to fully analyze the pie chart on Professor Snape’s face at that moment.
"Dumbledore…"
Professor Snape’s voice seemed to be suppressing rage, while also revealing an exhaustion and madness that could not be concealed.
"Has your brain finally been thoroughly pickled in sugar?"
"Oh, Severus, don’t say that…"
Professor Sprout stepped forward with a frown and tugged at Professor Snape’s robe.
"Professor Sprout, Professor Snape’s circumstances are rather special… I’m afraid we need some time to speak privately. Please return, both of you."
Adam shook his head.
"By the way, please don’t reveal that I’ve become Headmaster to the students. Their parents probably won’t accept it so easily. And don’t tell Professor McGonagall either. We’ll discuss everything after she returns."
"Mm, all right… Professor Reed."
The two Heads of House left the Headmaster’s Office with smiling faces. That form of address, however, made Adam feel somewhat unaccustomed to it.
Taking a deep breath, Adam looked at the somewhat overwhelmed Professor Snape.
Well, it was understandable. Professor Snape was a double agent under immense pressure, and now the superior on the side of justice had suddenly begun showing signs of madness. Anyone would have a mental breakdown.
"Professor Snape, I know you’re in a hurry, but don’t rush. Listen to me first."
After Adam explained the whole story behind his becoming Headmaster, Professor Snape fell silent.
"So…"
After a long while, Professor Snape finally looked at Professor Dumbledore and spoke.
"What should I do next?"
He needed to confirm his next assignment and coordinate it with his mission on Voldemort’s side. It was not yet time for him to expose himself.
"You will continue doing what you should do. I believe you can accomplish it."
Professor Dumbledore said mysteriously.
After Professor Dumbledore spoke, Adam added,
"My suggestion is that Professor Snape simply give up his undercover mission. It’s too dangerous. As long as you remain at Hogwarts, I can guarantee your safety—in fact, Voldemort is no longer much of a concern."
Under Professor Snape’s and Professor Dumbledore’s gazes, Adam turned to Professor Dumbledore.
"I have confirmed that the final Horcrux has already been made. Find it and destroy it, then deal with the soul fragment inside Harry. After that, Voldemort can be killed like an ordinary mortal at any time."
Adam clapped his hands after saying that.
"I propose that we simply give Harry a quick death and let him perish together with Voldemort. That way, Voldemort will have only one Horcrux left. I have a way to use Voldemort’s remnant soul after his death to find that Horcrux…"
"No!" x2
Professor Dumbledore cleared his throat.
"We cannot force certain people to make sacrifices. Leave Voldemort to us. You only need to protect Hogwarts."
Adam shook his head regretfully, then looked at Professor Snape.
"Professor Snape doesn’t agree either? I remember that your relationship with Harry has always been quite poor. I thought you would support my method… It seems Professor Snape truly does love every student."
Professor Snape once again revealed an incomparably complicated expression.
