Over countless campaigns in the past, he had massacred an unknown number of Kryptonians. He had also encountered Rao, the god of Krypton. Rao had not been particularly powerful, but he had been extremely cold-blooded. His reason for destroying Krypton had been absurdly simple: he wanted to see how his worshippers would react without their "sun." The birth of Ancient Doomsday back then could largely be blamed on Rao.
