#495
Injured
Just then, a tongue dropped from a tree, wrapped around Quicksilver, and reeled him back up. Azazel’s expression changed, and he hurriedly reached for Quicksilver’s left foot.
Just as Azazel was about to grab Quicksilver’s left foot, a sharp pain suddenly exploded in his head. He could not help but scream—it was the psychic mutant making a move.
Up in the tree, Toad caught Quicksilver and nimbly leaped behind Astra before the various attacks could reach them.
"Nicely done."
Astra was overjoyed. With this, Human Torch had completely lost his leverage. Hmph, daring to provoke Magneto? He really did not know his place.
Free once more, Quicksilver laughed. "Toad, thanks. Your tongue is disgusting, but you did save me."
Toad rolled his eyes. "I’m starting to regret saving you."
"Damn it."
Seeing Quicksilver regain his freedom, Azazel cursed loudly. He shouted, "Move! Take Quicksilver back!"
Just as everyone was about to attack, there was a boom. A huge boulder smashed into the open ground before them, kicking up a cloud of dust.
It was Magneto’s warning. As he controlled the mech to lift its foot off Human Torch, he said to Azazel and the others, "Don’t force me to kill mutants."
"Magneto, we surrender."
Azazel gritted his teeth and said, "We’ll leave the Brotherhood, but you have to let us take Human Torch with us."
Magneto flew out of the mech and landed beside Quicksilver. He sneered. "Azazel, aren’t you dreaming a little too big?"
"Magneto, you are indeed strong, but you can’t stop all of us. Not to mention, I can Teleport."
Azazel said, "Maybe you can kill all of us, but Quicksilver and the others will definitely be buried with us."
"You think we’re afraid of you?"
Having recovered a little strength, Quicksilver stepped forward and shouted, "Old man, we can’t let them leave. They’re all Evil Believers. Once they get away, they’ll definitely go around killing people. The public will suffer massive casualties."
"What do ordinary people have to do with me?"
Magneto snorted and said to Azazel, "You can leave, but Human Torch stays. Don’t worry, I won’t kill him. I’ll hand him over to the professor. He was the professor’s student to begin with."
Azazel hesitantly scratched his head. At that moment, Human Torch suddenly transformed into flames and rolled away across the ground.
Magneto immediately controlled the mech to stomp on Human Torch. Just then, a sharp pain suddenly shot through his waist. He turned around in shock and saw Quicksilver expressionlessly twisting the dagger in his hand—his dagger had sunk deep into Magneto’s side.
"Pietro!"
Magneto stared at Quicksilver in utter disbelief. His own son had ambushed him? Why? Magneto was filled with grief and fury, even a sense of utter despair. The people he cared about most in his life were his family, yet they had kept leaving him one after another. He had finally found a son, only for that son to stab him.
Everyone else was equally stunned, unable to believe this had happened. Toad was the first to react, kicking Quicksilver to the ground.
After falling, Quicksilver suddenly snapped awake. Looking at the blood on his hand, he cried out in terror, "God, what did I just do?"
Seeing Quicksilver’s reaction, Magneto, clutching his abdomen, suddenly relaxed. He said, "You were controlled. Azazel, you’re despicable."
"How else was I supposed to defeat the famous Magneto?"
Azazel said smugly, "Quicksilver is still Quicksilver, but earlier, I had a hypnotist plant a suggestion in him. The moment he received my command, he would immediately ambush you."
Azazel’s command had been simple: scratch his head. At first, he had only wanted an extra safeguard. He had not expected to actually need it.
It could not be helped. Human Torch was all talk. In a real fight, he was useless.
Quicksilver was filled with guilt. His eyes reddened as he gritted his teeth and shouted, "Azazel, I’ll kill you."
"Try surviving today first."
Azazel smiled disdainfully and shouted, "Magneto is finished. Move! Kill them!"
"Kill Magneto!"
The mutants were extremely excited. Killing Magneto would be an enormous honor.
"You lot?"
Magneto was about to raise his hand and control the mech when he felt his strength rapidly draining away. He could not even remain standing and dropped to one knee.
"Magneto, sorry, but the dagger was coated with my deadly poison."
A mutant raised both hands, transforming them into two pythons that lunged toward Magneto. Astra immediately stepped in front of Magneto, tightly gripping the pythons’ necks to keep them from biting him.
Seeing that Magneto was truly crippled, the mutants launched their attacks one after another. Human Torch was no exception. He struggled up from the ground and said triumphantly, "Magneto, your time is up. The Mutant Brotherhood belongs to me now."
Astra and the others gritted their teeth. They stood guard around Magneto, prepared to fight Human Torch and the others to the death.
No matter what others thought of Magneto, to Astra and the others, he was their leader, the hope of mutantkind.
Just as the battle was about to erupt, a voice suddenly sounded in Azazel’s mind. "Use your Teleportation ability at full power. I will take you away."
Azazel was confused. "Who are you? And why should we leave when victory is within our grasp?"
Original Sin said, "I am the Doomsday Master. Iron Man will arrive soon. I am interfering with his transportation, but I can’t hold him off for long. He is the Space Lord."
"What? Iron Man is coming? I’ll teleport right away."
Azazel was horrified. Without another word, he immediately activated Teleportation. Original Sin waved a hand, greatly amplifying Azazel’s teleportation fluctuations. All the traitor mutants, including Human Torch and Domino, vanished at the same time.
The moment Azazel disappeared, Wang Bert appeared with the professor, Jean, and Wolverine. Wang Bert’s expression was somewhat grim. His teleportation had been delayed by a few seconds. If he was not mistaken, Original Sin had intervened.
The question was, why had Original Sin done that? What did the Brotherhood’s affairs have to do with Him? "Erik, what happened to you?"
Seeing Magneto on one knee, the professor was alarmed and hurriedly had Jean push him over.
When Magneto saw the professor and the others, he first sighed in relief, then asked unhappily, "Charles, did you do something to my mind? Otherwise, you wouldn’t have arrived so conveniently."
"It was only a warning signal, Erik. I would not interfere with your thoughts."
Magneto said coldly, "Not even a warning signal. Charles, if you do something like this again, I won’t let you off."
"You two really are quite the pair."
Wang Bert smiled and said, "I don’t know what happened, but Magneto, it seems I arrived at just the right time."
Astra was startled and shouted, "Are you, the great Iron Man, going to take advantage of someone’s misfortune?"
Quicksilver also shouted, "Iron Man, that’s not cool."
"Bert…"
The professor hesitated, unsure whether he should try to stop him.
"If I really wanted to deal with you, you’d already be finished. Magneto, you owe me a huge favor, and you’ll repay it."
Wang Bert had no intention of capturing Magneto now. If he did, the Mutant Brotherhood would certainly fall into chaos.
There was no rush. He would deal with the Evil Believers first.
With Toad’s support, Magneto stood up and said, "Don’t worry. I’ll repay this favor. But as I said before, I do not agree with your path."
"I never expected an old fossil like you to agree with me."
Wang Bert asked, "What happened just now? Was it related to the Doomsday Master?"
"How did you know?"
Magneto was somewhat surprised. Then, as Toad bandaged his wound, he gave Wang Bert a detailed account of what had happened.
"Human Torch and Azazel have joined the Doomsday Master?"
Wang Bert frowned. This was not good news. Mutant Evil Believers were far more dangerous than ordinary Evil Believers.
"John."
The professor sighed. This student had completely gone down the wrong path. He truly regretted it now. If he had known, he should not have given Human Torch so much freedom.
He should have helped him refuse William.
"How did he change so much?"
Jean frowned deeply. Human Torch had been somewhat flashy at school, but he had still been a decent student. Yet only a few months after entering society, he had become a globally wanted archvillain.
"Yes, the Doomsday Master also helped them increase their strength."
Quicksilver nodded. "Fortunately, you arrived in time. Otherwise, the Mutant Brotherhood would have fallen into the Evil Believers’ hands. Then both ordinary people and mutants would be in serious trouble."
"This time, we have the professor’s safeguard to thank."
Wang Bert said. What was Domino doing? She had not sent a single message. She had almost ruined everything.
Magneto snorted unhappily at that. The professor spread his hands and explained quietly to him.
At that moment, Wang Bert’s phone suddenly rang. It was Hank, who shouted anxiously, "Bert, this is bad! Azazel just led people into the Mutant Affairs Department and forcibly took Nightcrawler away."
"What? They didn’t flee? They went to the Mutant Affairs Department instead? I’m heading over right now."
Wang Bert frowned deeply. He put down the phone and said to Magneto, "Magneto, settle your own affairs. Professor, something happened at the Mutant Affairs Department. We’re leaving immediately."
"Alright."
The professor nodded hurriedly. Wang Bert did not waste any time and vanished with the professor and the other two.
"Azazel."
Magneto cursed hatefully, then said to Astra, "Astra, pack up. We’re leaving this place. Also, have all branches abandon their bases and head to the Safe Houses."
"Alright." Astra nodded and took people to pack their things.
Quicksilver walked over to Magneto and asked, "Old man, you’re badly hurt. Aren’t you worried something might happen during the relocation?"
"What is a wound like this? I’ve suffered much worse. Once I recover, I’ll immediately kill Human Torch and Azazel."
Magneto said forcefully, "No one betrays the Brotherhood. They must die."
Quicksilver gritted his teeth. "Azazel is mine. I’ll kill him with my own hands."
"You’ve finally stopped being so frivolous."
Magneto nodded in satisfaction. If this could make his son mature, then that stab had not been for nothing.
At the Mutant Affairs Department, Wang Bert and the other three appeared out of thin air. They found the lobby in complete chaos, with damaged equipment everywhere. Cyclops was injured as well, and Jean hurried over to examine him.
Wang Bert asked Hank, who was walking over, "Hank, what exactly happened?"
"Just now, a large group of mutants suddenly appeared out of nowhere. They didn’t say anything and attacked us immediately. We were caught completely off guard."
Hank explained, "They took Nightcrawler amid the chaos, then disappeared. The whole thing lasted only a few dozen seconds. It’s obvious they came specifically for Nightcrawler."
"Professor, why does Azazel insist on getting Nightcrawler?"
Wang Bert asked. Azazel was not that intelligent. Original Sin had likely planned this personally. In other words, Azazel’s plan could bring Original Sin tremendous benefits, or He would not have cared so much.
"I’m not entirely sure either. Perhaps we can contact Raven. Kurt is her son, so she may know something."
"I’ll get Magneto to contact Mystique right away. I’m afraid Azazel’s actions are not simple."
Wang Bert nodded and teleported back to the Brotherhood’s New York branch, where he found Magneto and the others moving out.
Seeing Wang Bert appear again, Magneto and the others became rather wary. Was this guy planning to secretly finish them off? "You’re moving quickly."
Wang Bert flew above the massive mech and said, "Magneto, was this mech built to deal with me?"
Magneto snorted coldly. "What if it was? What if it wasn’t?"
"If it wasn’t, forget I asked. If it was, then stop wasting your effort. This thing is useless against me."
"We’ll only know whether it works after trying it."
Magneto asked, "Iron Man, why did you come back?"
"Give me Mystique’s number. Nightcrawler was taken by Azazel. I want to ask if she has any clues."
"Nightcrawler was taken by Azazel?"
Magneto hesitated, then recited a phone number to Wang Bert. "If you’re going after Azazel, I can team up with you."
Quicksilver said through gritted teeth, "Azazel must die."
"Leave a number. We’ll talk later. Azazel is probably planning something big."
Wang Bert shook his head, flew to the side, and took out his phone to call Mystique.
After the call connected, Mystique asked coldly, "Who are you, and why do you have my number?"
"It’s me, the man you can never have."
Wang Bert explained what had happened. Mystique asked angrily, "Are you people really that useless? You actually let Azazel take Kurt?"
"If not for me, your Magneto and your Mutant Brotherhood would already be history."
Wang Bert snorted. "Mystique, how much do you know about Azazel?"
Mystique was silent for a moment before answering, "Azazel has lived for many years. I’m not sure exactly how many, but at least several centuries.
"Over those centuries, he produced many descendants and secretly imprisoned them all. The reason I stole Kurt away back then was not only to get revenge on Azazel, but also to save Kurt."
After a pause, Mystique added, "Azazel seems to want to sacrifice his descendants, but I don’t know why. He keeps his mouth shut."
