Iron Man Gets Crushed by Eevee (Guaranteed First Update, Please Subscribe!!!)

Lake called Pepper Potts in the afternoon, then clocked out and went home on time.

He cared a lot about what had happened with Wanda. However, judging from the surveillance footage, Wanda clearly did not want to see him at this point. Besides, there were still some things Lake had not figured out, so while he cared, he did not care that much.

It was late at night.

Lake was woken by a phone call.

"Hello!"

"Supervisor, we found Obadiah Stane."

"…"

Lake threw off the covers and rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Where?"

See?

There was no need to waste a Tracking Card on Obadiah Stane. As a destined villain, there was no doubt that before he fulfilled his fate, he would reveal himself even if he tried to hide.

"Hancock Fort."

"…New Jersey?"

"Yes."

The Department of Homeland Security agent on duty said, "Just now, an explosion occurred at a Stark Industries property in Hancock Fort. When the local police arrived, Obadiah Stane killed the first batch of firefighters and police officers before fleeing."

Lake had initially nodded, but then frowned slightly. "What did you say? He killed the firefighters and police?"

Was Obadiah really that powerful?

At this point in time, Obadiah and Tony Stark had fallen out very early on. Even if he had somehow obtained the design for Tony’s first-generation suit, could Obadiah, who was currently hiding like a rat in the street, have had enough time to tinker together his own Overlord Mecha within these fifteen days?

The Department of Homeland Security agent on the other end said, "The surveillance footage from the scene has already been sent to…"

Just as the agent was speaking, a scream came from downstairs.

Skye’s?

Lake raised an eyebrow. With a whoosh, he passed straight through the wall, then leaped down from the spiral staircase with a bang.

Just then.

A cute, delicate cry rang out.

"Boo—Eevee!!!!"

Crack!

Tony, who had just pushed open the door and walked in from the outside balcony, his arm guards torn apart and dangling like a beggar’s rags, instantly drew an attack from the little Eevee protecting Skye.

Thunder!

Crack!

Under Lake’s gaze, a bolt of heavenly lightning appeared out of nowhere and struck Tony Stark. Thin wisps of smoke rose from the top of Tony’s head. Tony spat out a mouthful of black smoke and moved his lips.

With a thud.

Tony collapsed face-first.

Lake was stunned.

Skye, wearing pajamas, awake in the middle of the night, holding Eevee in her arms and a glass of milk in her hand, was also stunned.

Five minutes later.

Skye hugged Eevee and blinked at Lake, who was sitting on the sofa and pouring Life Potion into Tony’s mouth. In a soft voice, she said, "Sorry, Lake."

The Eevee in her arms also let out soft cries of "Eevee, Eevee," as if apologizing too.

After pouring a bottle of Life Potion into Tony, Lake said, "It’s fine. This guy brought it on himself."

Coming over in the middle of the night, refusing to use the front door and insisting on sneaking in through the back?

Serves him right.

That was what Lake thought as he sensed Tony’s current life force. Then he looked curiously at Skye. "Why aren’t you asleep in the middle of the night?"

Skye said, "I was thirsty, so I came down to get a glass of milk."

Lake gave an acknowledging "oh."

Skye blinked, seemingly remembering something. She lowered her head to look at the cute, cake-like Eevee in her arms, then looked up at Lake. "Just now, Eevee…"

Lake interrupted her directly. "You saw wrong again. It was an illusion."

The corner of Skye’s mouth twitched. "How can there be so many illusions? There aren’t any bugs in my brain anymore."

The bullet curving had been an illusion.

The letter appearing out of nowhere in the electronic fireplace had also been an illusion.

Fine.

She accepted it. She would just treat them as illusions.

But just now…

Skye could swear to heaven that although Tony breaking in had startled her, after the Eevee in her arms bristled, she had clearly seen a bolt of heavenly lightning strike Tony.

Lake looked at Skye seriously. "What we see isn’t decided by our eyes, but by our brains. Think about it yourself. Can a tiny little pet like Eevee summon heavenly lightning? Is that scientifically possible?"

Skye opened her mouth. "…It isn’t."

Lake spread his hands at Skye. "I’m done talking. Go to sleep."

Skye obediently said, "Oh," then hugged Eevee and took the freshly heated bottle of milk toward the spiral staircase. She stopped, stood there thinking for a moment, and after a silent second or two, started walking again.

Is there really something wrong with my brain?

That was what Skye thought.

Very soon.

Skye disappeared up the spiral staircase with a stomach full of doubts and self-doubt.

Lake shook his head helplessly. He had a feeling that if he kept fooling Skye like this, sooner or later she would start wondering whether the world was real at all.

Should I tell Skye her story ahead of time?

That was what Lake was thinking when Tony Stark let out a groan from the sofa, rolled over, and flopped onto the floor with a smack.

Tony seemed to still be dazed from the electrocution. He pushed himself up with his arms and looked at Lake, who was sitting on the sofa in his pajamas. "Lake?"

Lake looked at Tony with interest. "Stark Industries isn’t far from here. Why didn’t you go find Pepper? Why come to me? Here to ask for help?"

Tony looked at his battered armor, stood up, and shook his head. "I didn’t want Pepper to see me like this."

Lake said, "Oh," then his face darkened instantly as he looked at Tony. "Then I thank you."

Fuck.

You can’t let Pepper see you in this sorry state, but I can?

Ugh…

Forget it.

Lake shook his head. "Go on, what happened? This doesn’t make sense. You transformed, so killing one Obadiah shouldn’t have been difficult. How did you end up in this sorry state?"

Jack had already taken a team over there.

New Jersey had its own Department of Homeland Security branch. Lake had just called them, and they had said that they would share the investigation results of this case with New York State and cooperate with them.

Tony was connected to Jarvis. While having Jarvis examine his body, he answered Lake’s question. "Obadiah is no longer Obadiah."

With that.

Tony began recounting what had happened when he arrived at Hancock Fort.

Actually…

Even the Department of Homeland Security had not expected Obadiah Stane to play this hide-in-plain-sight trick. They had investigated the assets and various cash expenditures under Obadiah Stane’s name, but had never imagined that Obadiah would be hiding among assets owned by Stark Industries.

This…

The move was bizarre enough. In particular, after Tony investigated and discovered that this property did not exist in Stark Industries’ system, he could not help wondering how many unregistered properties Obadiah had secretly purchased for Stark Industries over the years.

In short.

After uncovering all this, Tony Stark waited until his Iron Man Suit had been repaired, then went straight to the property in a brand-new Iron Man Suit after nightfall.

Lake interrupted him, holding back a laugh as he looked at Tony. "And then you got beaten out?"

Tony shot Lake a glance but ignored the comment and continued.

Hancock Fort was located beneath the Statue of Liberty, right beside Laripa Bay. A nondescript warehouse with no markings and an apparently long history looked utterly inconspicuous no matter how one looked at it.

When Tony entered the warehouse, Obadiah Stane’s cloned resurrection had clearly reached its final stage. More precisely, the cloning pods had already been activated.

The moment the cloning pods activated, endless black mist erupted from the ground. Tony even saw the two creatures he had believed were clones of his parents, both of which had already completely transformed into Parasitic Demons.

The two Parasitic Demons attacked Tony the moment they saw him.

Obadiah had been startled and turned to look behind him. The wife and son crawling out of the cloning pods tore their lips apart like slit-mouthed women, then, amid the endless black mist, bit down on Obadiah’s back.

After that.

The two Parasitic Demons that Tony had driven back with blasts from his palm cannons saw this and also retreated. Just like the Parasitic Demons biting down on Obadiah from behind, they bit him from the front.

Tony was dumbfounded.

He could not understand what was happening.

Almost as Obadiah screamed, black mist surged out of the four Parasitic Demons and completely enveloped Obadiah. Within that black mist, blood mixed with Obadiah’s agonized screams.

The next second.

Boom!

Tony Stark was blasted out of the warehouse by the erupting black tide. His momentum did not decrease in the slightest as he crashed into a residence.

Then…

The residents of the sparsely populated Hancock Fort instantly awoke from their sleep.

Tony hurriedly got up and went out to face the enemy.

Inside the warehouse, which had been blown apart, the four Parasitic Demons were gone. Obadiah, however, stood there radiating black smoke, his pupils scarlet and black, staring at Tony Stark, who had landed before him. He said one thing.

Lake looked at Tony. "He said one thing? What did he say?"

Tony recalled the scene and looked at Lake. "Black Heart."

Black Heart?

What the hell was that?

Still, demons with names were at least not the low-level demons that did not even deserve names. At the very least, at the very least, he should be an intermediate-level demon.

Tony nodded. "Yes. He said his name was Black Heart. He came here because he wanted to…"

Lake blinked. "Wanted to do what?"

Tony said solemnly, "Reopen Hell Gate."

Lake sucked in a breath.

It was not the kind of shock that came from being astonished.

Uh…

Fine.

It did count as shock.

But he was absolutely not shocked by the grand ambition of this Black Heart Demon. He was shocked by the demon’s sheer arrogance.

You think you can reopen Hell Gate just because you say you can?

Do you think New York Sanctum is just for show?

Or do you think the Witch Hunter or whatever other mages living in New York are invisible?

Reopen Hell? I’ll spray blood all over your face.

How are you going to open it? With your head?
