Journey to Find the Meow-Meow Hammer
Mexico, Old Bridge Town, inside the restaurant’s single-occupancy restroom.
After hearing about the two-headed symbiote battle in New York, Kyle nodded lightly at Yutong’s holographic projection. A trace of meaning flickered across his handsome yet cold face as he said, "All right. I understand."
"What do you need us to do?" Yutong asked softly.
After giving it some thought, Kyle instructed, "Have the Card Disciples stop looking for other symbiotes for now. Find the symbiote attached to Eddie first. I’m somewhat interested in it."
"Understood. I’ll make sure Luna works harder." Yutong smiled faintly before ending the projected call.
The single restroom fell silent again.
"Master, do you think there really is a symbiote that isn’t afraid of fire?" Venom asked, its emotions complicated.
No matter how it evolved, even after reaching adulthood and replicating various combat forms, it still could not escape its fatal weaknesses to fire and ultrasonic waves!
Its fear of fire in particular meant that, when Kyle fully unleashed his Fire God Divine Power, Venom could not attach itself to him and provide full-body combat suit enhancement. To a certain degree, that greatly reduced their combat strength.
And now, a symbiote that supposedly did not fear fire had appeared. To Venom, that was practically a naked taunt!
"It hasn’t been confirmed yet. There’s only a certain possibility. Besides, even if it has no weakness to fire, it still can’t compare to you." Kyle rarely comforted Venom.
After so many battles and incidents, Venom and Vis had become his left and right arms. Only with both of them working alongside Kyle could he be capable of anything in every field.
"Let’s deal with things here first, then go back to New York and take a look."
After saying that, Kyle opened the door and left the restroom. As soon as he returned to the dining area, he saw Thor leaving the table and striding toward several customers at a nearby table with a grim face.
"Thor?" Jane and the others rose in confusion, afraid that he would do something reckless again.
"What were you just talking about? Can you tell me?" Thor approached the neighboring table and asked a burly, bearded man with bare arms.
"Of course." The bearded man grinned, gesturing animatedly as he vividly explained, "About thirty miles south of this town, a crater appeared. There’s a hammer-shaped little meteorite in it that no one can pull out. Even a four-wheel-drive vehicle at full throttle can’t budge it an inch."
"So it’s been discovered…" Kyle could not help shaking his head.
"Thirty miles south, right?" Thor nodded seriously, thanked the man, and returned to Jane’s group.
The bearded man waved at Thor’s retreating back and kindly reminded him, "Hey, it’s already too late to go there now. A group of what looked like government armed personnel has completely sealed the place off."
Ignoring him, Thor returned to the table, nodded at Kyle, who had come back, and decisively told Jane and the others, "I must leave."
"You’re interested in that little meteorite?" Jane asked with a frown.
"That is no meteorite. It is Mjolnir, the hammer of Thor." Thor was clearly extremely excited, speaking faster than usual, making his pronunciation of "Mjolnir" sound a little strange.
Daisy misheard and became confused. Tilting her head cutely, she asked, "Meow-meow? What’s meow-meow?"
"Mjolnir. A hammer," Thor repeated.
"Oh, the Meow-Meow Hammer." Daisy suddenly understood.
Kyle was speechless. Calling the hammer of Thor, which commanded thunder and authority, the Meow-Meow Hammer would make Odin cry.
"I will remember all of you. Once I retrieve Meow-Meow… cough, cough, Mjolnir, I will definitely return to thank you."
With that, Thor turned and left through the restaurant entrance without looking back.
"Should we stop him?" Daisy spread her hands and looked at the others.
Erik asked bluntly, "Can you stop him?"
"That’s true." Daisy felt no regret at Thor’s departure. After all, she was not particularly interested in astronomical research, and her warm gaze kept lingering on Kyle from time to time.
Kyle did not care, calmly continuing to enjoy his food as if he had not noticed. Meanwhile, he silently considered other matters.
If Thor could retrieve Mjolnir that easily, Kyle would not have needed to leave New York for nothing. Since this was an earthly trial deliberately arranged by Odin, it should look like one. Without some hardship and suffering, how could it be called a trial? It would be more accurate to call it a one-day tour of Earth.
"After we finish eating, we can go over and take a look," Kyle said after pondering for a moment.
"I have no objection," Erik was the first to agree.
"Me too," Daisy said in agreement.
"Once Mr. Karr says something, you all change your minds so quickly." Jane was speechless, but she had already been thinking about Thor and his identity. There was no reason for her to reject Kyle’s suggestion, so she could only agree.
By the time the group finished eating, it was nearly noon.
As Jane and the others returned to where they were staying and had parked, they were startled to discover a group of people in suits searching through their van and rooms. Their laptops, instruments, and other equipment had all been pulled out, and the men were preparing to take them away.
S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. So they had indeed sealed off the place where Mjolnir was…
Kyle recognized the suited personnel at a glance. With his hands still in his pockets, he remained behind the others and had no intention of revealing his identity.
"What are you doing? Stop! Those are our things! You’re violating private property! Robbers!" Jane immediately flew into a rage and rushed forward, only to have several suited men seize her arms and stop her.
"Hey, hey!" Seeing her friend being restrained, Daisy wanted to help, but Erik hurriedly pulled her back. With a grave expression on his aged face, he asked the suited men, "Gentlemen, can you explain what is happening? We are astronomers. We haven’t done anything illegal."
"I’ll explain. Agents, release this young lady first." A calm, steady voice rang out. The two suited men immediately let go of Jane’s arms and stepped back to clear a path.
A middle-aged man in a suit emerged from behind them, producing an identification card bearing a sword-and-shield emblem. He politely told Jane, "You must be Miss Foster. I’m Agent Coulson of S.H.I.E.L.D. Due to certain circumstances, we need to requisition your records and astronomical observation data."
"This is compensation for you." Coulson casually took out a one-hundred-thousand-dollar check and handed it to Jane.
Jane angrily refused to accept it. "You’re being far too forceful and overbearing! Some of my instruments are custom-made. You can’t even buy them locally!"
"I’m sorry." Coulson wore a smile, but he had no intention of changing his decision.
S.H.I.E.L.D.’s authority was singular and formidable. To work efficiently, it could do many things that even the military did not dare do casually. Ordinary legal action was completely ineffective against them.
"You!" Jane watched helplessly as her laptop and equipment were carried onto S.H.I.E.L.D.’s vehicles. Unwilling to accept it, she tried to rush forward and snatch them back, but after steadying Daisy, the seasoned Erik quickly stepped up and pulled Jane away.
"Jane, don’t make trouble with them." Erik’s face was more serious than ever as he nervously whispered, "They’re from S.H.I.E.L.D. They’re not people we can afford to provoke."
"What kind of agency is S.H.I.E.L.D., anyway?" Daisy asked gloomily as she leaned closer.
Erik sighed. "A secret government-backed agency. I once had a professor friend who researched Gamma Radiation. After S.H.I.E.L.D. came looking for him, he was never seen again."
"Seriously?!" Jane and Daisy both sucked in a breath, thoroughly frightened.
