Journey to Star Dou: Su Yu’s Exploits
Oscar said in surprise, "Really? No, no, I have to try it."
As he spoke, Oscar immediately found a kitchen knife and lightly drew it across his hand. Nothing happened at all, so reassured, Oscar immediately brought the knife down hard.
"Ah—"
Oscar cried out in pain.
Su Yu laughed. "I only said you were impervious to blades and spears. I never said you wouldn’t feel pain."
Clutching the arm that felt like it was about to break, Oscar said with a constipated expression, "Oh my god, why didn’t you say that earlier? It hurts like hell…"
Su Yu helplessly waved his hand. "You didn’t ask."
As he spoke, Su Yu suddenly noticed everyone around him staring at him with shining eyes. Frightened, he took two steps back. "What are you trying to do…?"
"Hehehe, Xiao Yu, give me a shot too." Dai Mubai rubbed his hands together.
Su Yu immediately said, "Boss Dai, it’s not that I don’t want to give all of you one, but this isn’t something simple. To be honest, I can only use such a heaven-defying method three times, and I’ve already used up all three."
"Alright, stop making things difficult for Su Yu. What Su Yu said must be true. How could such a heaven-defying method be used whenever one pleased?" Flender spoke up.
Everyone nodded, thinking that this did make sense.
But the truth was that Su Yu was lazy, and he also felt they did not need his help anyway. They would all become gods regardless.
As for why Su Yu had helped Ma Hongjun in the beginning, it was because he did not want one of the tragedies from the original story to happen again. He wanted Ma Hongjun to obtain the divine position of a Tier 1 Godhood so he could bring Bai Chenxiang with him to the God Realm.
Flender said, "Alright, stop fooling around. Since Ma Hongjun and Oscar have both reached level thirty, have Teacher Zhao take you to the Star Dou Great Forest tomorrow. You are a team. From now on, whenever any one of you needs a Soul Ring, all of you must go together to help your companion obtain it."
"Yes!" everyone answered.
Flender nodded slightly. "Good. Let’s begin today’s lesson. Today’s lesson is very simple: each of you must eat both kinds of Oscar’s sausages."
"What ⊙⊙?" everyone shouted blankly.
"Well then, I’ll be going first." After saying that, Su Yu immediately ran off.
What kind of joke was this? There was no way he would eat something so disgusting. Besides, he did not need to replenish Soul Power or anything.
After Su Yu ran off, Xiao Wu also wanted to flee, but Flender directly stopped her. "Other than Xiao Yu, none of you are getting away!"
Early the next morning.
After Tang San got up, he shook Su Yu. "Xiao Yu, get up."
Su Yu yawned, then sat up. "You go ahead. I’ll catch up later."
Tang San nodded and went out. The moment Tang San left, Su Yu lay back down, and before long, he fell asleep again…
Everyone soon arrived at the training ground. Zhao Wuji looked at the eight people before him and asked, "Why hasn’t that brat Su Yu come yet?"
"Teacher Zhao, we’d better not call Xiao Yu," Tang San said.
"Why? Although that brat Su Yu is somewhat ridiculously strong and can help Oscar get a Soul Beast in an instant, I can tell him not to make a move so easily." Zhao Wuji looked at Tang San.
Tang San gave a bitter smile. "Teacher Zhao, Xiao Yu and I have gone to the Soul Hunting Forest three times. The first time, he summoned two packs of hundred-year Netherworld Wolves. The second time, he summoned three packs of thousand-year Blazing Fire Earth Lizards. The third time, he summoned three ten-thousand-year Frost Ice Serpents."
"Uh…"
Everyone stared at Tang San in shock. Dai Mubai patted Tang San on the shoulder. "Xiao San, it really hasn’t been easy for you to stay alive this long while being around Su Yu."
"Mm-hmm." Everyone nodded together.
One moment he summoned a pack of Soul Beasts, the next moment another pack, and they kept getting stronger. Good heavens, they all wished they could run away immediately, terrified that Su Yu would wake up and insist on coming with them.
After hearing about Su Yu’s exploits, Zhao Wuji was also dumbfounded. "Alright then, let’s set off. We’d better not call that brat Su Yu. Who knows whether he’ll poke a hole in the sky if we let him go to the Star Dou Great Forest…"
"Teacher Zhao is wise!" everyone immediately said with laughter.
The truly sleeping Su Yu sneezed and muttered groggily, "Who’s talking bad about me…?"
Su Yu did not wake until noon. After washing up, he came to the academy. Looking at the empty grounds, he said angrily, "You guys actually left without waiting for me."
"Did they leave without waiting for you? You were the lazy one, alright?" Flender’s voice suddenly sounded behind Su Yu.
Su Yu looked at Flender, then clasped both hands behind his head. "I really don’t know why every one of you gets up so early. Sleeping a little longer feels so much better."
"Xiao Yu, we are Soul Masters. We need to cultivate. Not everyone is like you, possessing such strength without needing to work hard. If they do not want to fall behind others, they must strive desperately every moment." Flender looked at Su Yu and lectured him.
Hearing Flender’s words, Su Yu felt they truly made sense. With a serious expression, he said, "Alright then. From now on, I’ll get up an hour earlier!"
Flender: "…"
Flender looked at Su Yu speechlessly.
Su Yu looked at Flender and took two steps back. "What kind of look is that? I’m telling you, an hour and a half at most. No more than that."
"Forget it. You really are different from everyone else. I’m leaving." Flender shook his head with a smile and left.
Flender did not see the hint of loneliness that flashed through Su Yu’s eyes after he left.
How could Flender know just how hard Su Yu had worked in the past? Soul Masters worked hard to become stronger, to become figures admired by countless people, to stand at the peak of the entire world.
But Su Yu had worked hard merely to survive in that cruel society!
Su Yu would never forget those days when he gave everything he had, exhausted himself like a dog every day, and did it all just to stay alive. That was why, after coming to the Douluo Continent, he had always lived like a salted fish—sleeping until he woke naturally and avoiding anything he did not have to do.
With his hands behind his head, Su Yu walked toward the dormitory, muttering as he went, "Being a salted fish is still better. There’s nothing to think about. Just live my own little life well…"
After returning to the dormitory, Su Yu let the husky out. He patted Erha on the head. "Erha, go find Xiao Wu and protect her properly, understand?"
Erha stuck out his tongue and nodded. Su Yu smiled, then swiped his hand through the air, tearing open a spatial rift.
