Lady Shiva
An endless gust of wind swept up the dust. Zhang Ye elegantly raised his right hand, and the moment his toe lightly touched the ground, a massive magic circle slowly spread outward from beneath him.
His arms moved gently, and in the blink of an eye, Zhang Ye formed several strange hand gestures, eerie and mysterious.
Ghostly green Magic Lightning crackled around Zhang Ye. A powerful surge of energy erupted at once, forming a huge vortex that enveloped and swallowed everyone.
As the magic circle took shape, Kara and Black Canary finished off their respective opponents as well and swiftly descended beside Zhang Ye.
The air suddenly began to tremble. Everyone felt that wondrous power flowing across the surface of their bodies, then the gentle light abruptly contracted, and their bodies vanished from the spot along with it.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the Earth.
At the Chinese border stood the fortress of the League of Assassins, one of the few remaining large shelters on Earth.
Unlike other shelters that had taken in the vast majority of civilians, the people guarding this place were all warriors trained by the League of Assassins. Every one of them was a formidable fighter capable of taking on ten opponents alone.
The League of Assassins’ fortress was full of Eastern architectural style. Unlike those ancient castles or manors, its buildings blended seamlessly with the surrounding environment. The stone carvings, bricks, and tiles made the entire fortress feel solemn and majestic, giving it a profound atmosphere.
At the fortress gate, a sudden gale startled the League of Assassins’ guards.
If they remembered correctly, they had experienced something similar not long ago.
After Constantine had barely helped Clark locate Damian Wayne, Raven had forcibly activated teleportation magic, sending them directly here, where they had even fought with them.
Unexpectedly, less than ten minutes later, similar teleportation magic had appeared here again.
The assassin guards could not make sense of it. Those legendary powers that were supposedly rarely seen had become so commonplace now. Moreover, the League of Assassins’ location had always been secret, so why were there suddenly so many "guests"?
Their temporary confusion did not affect their movements. The instant they sensed intruders, the Assassins drew their weapons and surrounded the spot where magic was surging.
Ghostly green light rippled through the air as a fierce storm rapidly spiraled together. The magic circle suddenly expanded across the ground, and after a burst of blinding light, Zhang Ye and the others appeared in the center of it.
"Cool." Ashley blinked and said it with a hint of envy.
Meanwhile, Black Canary looked curiously at Zhang Ye. "If I remember correctly, you didn’t seem to chant a spell just now. Is this some kind of magical ability from another universe?"
"Silent magic? You learned it that quickly?" Kara was a little surprised too.
"Not exactly." As the one responsible for all this, Zhang Ye smiled awkwardly. "I was just trying to use sign language to gesture out reverse-language magic. I didn’t expect it to actually work."
Everyone burst into silent laughter at that. They had thought Zhang Ye’s magical skill had improved again.
Still, they admired Zhang Ye for connecting reverse-language magic with sign language, two things that seemed entirely unrelated. After all, not just anyone could perform reverse sign language.
Their conversation lasted only a moment before they quickly realized they had been surrounded by Assassins.
"Who are these people?" Pietro frowned. He disliked having blades pointed at him. If the Assassins had made any rash move, he would probably have rushed in and disarmed them already.
At that moment, Jason Todd, who had remained silent until then, stepped forward.
As a former Robin, he naturally knew where these killers came from. The League of Assassins and Batman had always maintained a love-hate relationship, and Jason had fought these people more than once before.
"You should at least recognize me, right?" Jason removed his Red Hood, staring coldly at the Assassins as he spoke in a deep voice. "Whoever your leader is now, have him come out and see me immediately."
Jason’s presence quickly intimidated them. They exchanged glances, unsure what to do.
After all, their leader Damian had just led the previous group of guests inside to rest and had specifically warned them not to disturb him. And now another group had arrived.
Jason interpreted their hesitation as disregard, making it even harder for him to suppress his already volatile temper. He clenched his fists and stepped forward, preparing to force his way inside.
Before receiving the Super Soldier Serum, these Assassins had already been no match for him. Now that he had become a true super soldier, he thought even less of these ordinary people.
However, just as Jason was about to make a move, the League of Assassins’ main gate suddenly opened, and a woman slowly walked out.
"There really are a lot of guests today. Since when did the League of Assassins become a tourist attraction?" The woman smiled helplessly as her gaze swept over Zhang Ye and the others.
Seeing the person in charge emerge, Jason stopped. His gaze rested on the woman’s face, and he froze slightly before dipping his head in greeting. "Lady Shiva."
"Long time no see, Jason." Lady Shiva looked pleasantly surprised, as though she could hardly believe Jason was still alive. "Aren’t you going to introduce them?"
"Ahem." Jason paused briefly, then turned and introduced Zhang Ye and the others to Lady Shiva one by one, while also explaining Lady Shiva’s identity to them.
Lady Shiva was one of the most outstanding Assassins and martial artists in the DC Multiverse. She had defeated Batman, Black Canary, Nightwing, Green Arrow, and other heroes known for their fighting skills head-on. Even Bane, Deathstroke, and Catwoman were no match for her.
Later, after leaving the League of Assassins, Lady Shiva had continued acting alone. During that time, she had also taught some heroes combat techniques.
It could be said that Lady Shiva was neither wholly good nor wholly evil. She was also a woman deeply respected by heroes and villains who valued martial prowess. She was highly principled and protective of her own, which gave her an extraordinary personal charm.
However, Zhang Ye knew far more about her than that. In other universes, Lady Shiva was also the mother of three generations of Batgirl. But judging from how this universe had developed, things apparently had not reached that point yet.
"We came after Superman. They should have arrived already, right?" Jason did not make small talk and asked directly.
"They arrived not long ago. They brought a demon, a Brit, and a scrawny little girl. They injured quite a few of our people." Lady Shiva folded her arms, clearly displeased. It was obvious she had not gotten much out of the other side either.
That was inevitable. Without the help of something special, no matter how formidable a mortal was, she could not contend with a high-dimensional being like a demon.
Speak of the devil. As Lady Shiva recounted what had happened, the fortress gate behind her slowly opened again with a dull rumble.
It was Damian and the others, who had settled Raven down and heard the commotion outside, coming out to see what was happening.
At that very instant, everyone’s gazes met.
