Lex the Yama

"Many people are coming back?"

"So does that mean everyone on the list Sonia-senpai gave me will return?"

Sarah asked Kyle curiously after hearing him.

"I don’t know who’s on the list Miss Sonia gave you."

"But basically everyone I know will be coming back."

"Even those people from Mogri, whom we barely get to see once a year, will come over for the New Year Pilgrimage."

"Look, that Cosmic Battleship flying slowly overhead belongs to Mogri."

After hearing Sarah’s question, Kyle flew up to a height of one meter above the ground with his arms folded and spoke.

"There are Void Cult members on Mogri too?"

Sarah asked in surprise.

"Of course. There are more than fifty Void brethren on Mogri."

"Their leader, Lex the Yama, is also an exceptionally powerful expert."

Kyle replied with a smile.

"Yama? Just hearing that name makes him seem hard to approach."

Sarah’s face showed some concern after hearing Kyle’s words.

"Don’t worry. Although Lex hasn’t met you before, once he learns that you’re a Recorder—"

"—he’ll definitely take the initiative to speak with you."

Kyle reassured her.

"Why?"

Sarah was somewhat confused.

"Seeing is believing. You’ll understand once you meet him."

Kyle said with a smile.

Anyone who had met the brethren on Mogri knew that they were a group of fanatics.

A Recorder might not appear to hold any special authority, but the position had been personally established by Lord Kassadin.

So even if Miss Sarah was an ordinary person as weak as a chick, Lex would definitely take the initiative to learn more about her once he found out.

After all, Mogri had a branch of the Void Cult.

As Sarah drove and talked with Kyle, they unknowingly arrived at the large airfield.

Cosmic fighters were neatly parked one after another in their designated spots.

At that moment, four Nova Corps fighters descended from the sky as well.

"There are Void Cult members in the Nova Corps too?"

Seeing those familiar Nova fighters, Lalatina’s eyes widened in astonishment.

"Dam said they received Miss Sonia’s instructions that the four of them should avoid returning to the island whenever possible."

"So it’s only natural that you haven’t heard of or seen them over the past few months."

Standing on the road and looking at the deliberately basin-shaped airfield in the distance, Kyle answered Lalatina.

"Why did Sonia-senpai tell them to return to the island less often?"

"Wouldn’t it be a good thing for the Nova Corps to have Void Cult members?"

Sarah could somewhat understand Sonia-senpai’s reasoning.

After all, even a One-Star Officer in the Nova Corps held an extremely high status and considerable authority on Xandar.

They could even apply for certain special privileges for Void Island.

"I don’t know."

"Even Dam and the others said they didn’t know."

Kyle immediately shook his head, indicating that he had no idea.

"They don’t know? Then why are they willing to obey?"

Sarah found that rather strange.

"Even if they don’t know why, since Miss Sonia said so, there must be a reason."

Kyle said as if it were only natural.

"They weren’t Nova Corps officers from the start, were they?"

Lalatina spoke up at that moment.

"Yeah. Dam and the others have been in the Void Cult for years, no less time than us."

"But they only successfully joined the Nova Corps in the first half of this year."

Kyle nodded and answered.

"Mr. Kyle, the Void Cult and the Nova Corps aren’t allies, are they?"

After hearing that, Lalatina asked again thoughtfully.

"I haven’t heard anything about the Void Cult forming an alliance with the Nova Corps."

"And rather than earn that little bit of pay while taking orders from others, I’d rather live freely on my own."

Kyle said directly.

"No wonder Sonia-senpai told Mr. Dam and the others to return to the island less often."

"It should be to reduce the chances of Mr. Dam and the others ending up in a difficult position within the Nova Corps."

After considering the factors brought by their identities, Lalatina voiced her conclusion.

"A difficult position?"

"Would the Nova Corps dare bully people from our Void Cult?"

Kyle’s eyes widened as he shouted.

"Mr. Kyle, you don’t need to get so angry."

"With the Void Cult behind Mr. Dam, the Nova Corps should also carefully consider how they treat him and the others."

"It’s just that being a Nova Corps officer isn’t easy. Often, there are matters beyond one’s control."

Lalatina’s eyes flickered as she spoke.

Some Nova Corps officers she had entertained in the past had drunkenly complained and revealed their true feelings.

Although the Nova Corps was a federation with a supreme commander, it was also divided into factions.

Even Second-Star Officers often suffered from schemes and frustrations within the Corps, let alone One-Star Officers.

Although Mr. Dam and the others had the Void Cult behind them, there were only four of them. Yet to those within the Nova Corps who knew the situation well—

—it was entirely possible to view those four as pieces planted within the Nova Corps. However, out of consideration for Great God of the Void Kassadin, they would turn a blind eye.

As long as the Void Cult did not excessively interfere with the Nova Corps, everything could be discussed.

But if those four maintained close ties with the Void Cult and indirectly interfered with the Nova Corps—

—then even if the supreme commander of the Nova Corps wanted to turn a blind eye, he would be unable to do so. The two sides could only go to war.

"Beyond one’s control, huh? Forget it, it’s not my place to worry about them."

"With Dam’s abilities, he can just retire and return to Void Island if things come to that."

"Besides, being a Nova Corps officer isn’t the only way to make money."

Kyle thought about it after hearing her, then found it too troublesome and simply stopped thinking about it.

As they spoke—

Dam, Barnett, Primo, and Philip leaped down from their fighters in Nova Armor, each of them radiating an incredibly confident and powerful presence.

But the imposing auras of the four instantly melted away and became peaceful when a sharp-eyed man over three meters tall, with a muscular body, red hair, and red skin, stepped down from a large Cosmic Battleship.

"Lex, it’s been a year. Looks like you’ve grown even stronger."

Sensing the aura of a powerhouse emanating from Lex, Dam greeted him with a smile.

"I devote myself wholeheartedly to the great Great God of the Void Kassadin. Naturally, my strength has improved."

"But why have the four of you joined the Nova Corps?"

Seeing what Dam and the others were wearing, Lex’s eyes revealed some dissatisfaction.
