#90
Light snow arrives
The entire village had gathered together, holding spears, their faces tense as they stared intently ahead.
In front of them was a small wolf, over three feet long. It looked just like an ordinary wild dog, except that its entire body radiated a fierce, terrifying aura that made one shudder.
Especially those eyes, filled with a bloodthirsty coldness, making these hunters who had fought against Demonic Beasts for years feel incredibly nervous, as if this little creature was even more terrifying than an average Demonic Beast.
Everyone had originally been resting, but suddenly, the children in the courtyard let out terrified screams, drawing everyone's attention.
When they saw that small wolf, they were all startled. Their perimeter wall was covered in poisonous thorns, and Demonic Beasts were naturally afraid of such things, so they wouldn't force their way in.
But this Demonic Beast had actually broken in, immediately raising everyone's alarm as they grabbed their weapons and rushed toward it.
"Stop."
A voice rang out, and a figure moved like a whirlwind, scooping the incredibly fierce Demonic Beast into its arms.
That person was Long Chen. He could hardly believe his eyes; that Demonic Beast was actually Little Snow.
At this moment, Little Snow had grown much larger, but its originally snow-white fur was covered in mud and stained with quite a bit of blood.
Over its entire body, there were no less than dozens of wounds, with several places still dripping blood, and in some areas, one could even see the bone. It was truly terrifying.
"Woo woo…"
Upon seeing Long Chen, the ferocity in Little Snow's eyes vanished without a trace, replaced entirely by warmth and attachment as it rubbed its head against Long Chen's face.
When the crowd originally saw Long Chen suddenly embrace an extremely dangerous Demonic Beast, they were so scared their faces turned pale.
That was a Demonic Beast, after all, naturally violent. Even a young Demonic Beast had greater offensive power than an ordinary wild animal.
But that Demonic Beast's behavior left everyone dumbfounded. This was no Demonic Beast; it was clearly just a puppy that had found its master.
"Little Snow, you've suffered."
Long Chen looked at the wounds on Little Snow's body and couldn't help but choke up.
Back when Long Chen led Ying Hou away, he didn't know if A-Man had forgotten Little Snow, or if Little Snow had snuck out on its own, but it had somehow relied on the unique sense of smell of the wolf race to track him down.
However, the journey covered thousands of miles, filled with countless wild beasts and hidden dangers. Clearly, Little Snow had experienced countless perils along the way.
Originally only a foot long, it had now grown to over three feet. Clearly, throughout this journey, it had relied entirely on hunting wild beasts to force itself to grow.
"Woo woo…"
Little Snow nudged Long Chen with its head, actually comforting him. Although it couldn't speak, Long Chen's Soul had a connection with it, allowing him to understand what it meant.
This made Long Chen feel even more guilty. He scooped up Little Snow, greeted the crowd, and after telling them it was his pet, everyone finally relaxed.
Long Chen carried Little Snow into the room and carefully examined its wounds. Some were tooth marks, caused by bites from other wild beasts.
Furthermore, one of its feet was abnormally swollen and had the stench of rotting flesh. When Long Chen looked, he saw two small blood holes there.
He estimated it was likely left by the fangs of some venomous snake. Thanks to Little Snow's powerful Physique, it was able to resist this poison; if it had been any other wild beast, it would likely have perished long ago.
Long Chen asked Xiao Hua to fetch a basin of clear water. He placed a pill into the water, and after it dissolved, he began to clean Little Snow's wounds.
Little Snow had too many wounds now. Many areas were already inflamed, and a portion of the flesh on its foot had rotted and had to be cut away.
Watching Long Chen clean Little Snow's wounds, Xiao Hua couldn't help but feel her scalp tingle, especially when she saw Long Chen lower his head and use a small knife to cut away the rotting flesh on its foot.
Little Snow's head was resting right against Long Chen's neck; if it opened its mouth, Long Chen's neck would be severed instantly.
However, whether he was cleaning the wounds or cutting away the rotting flesh, even though Little Snow was trembling with pain, it didn't make a sound.
Until half an hour later, when Long Chen had finished applying ointment to Little Snow's body and bandaging all the wounds, Xiao Hua, who was watching from the side, felt almost exhausted.
Looking at Xiao Hua, who was relieved, Long Chen smiled slightly, placed Little Snow on the bed, and gently stroked its head. "It is my partner, you don't need to worry."
Xiao Hua looked at Little Snow, which had fallen asleep in Long Chen's arms, and shook her head. "That really scared me to death just now. Humans can actually be partners with a Demonic Beast."
Long Chen smiled slightly. "Sometimes, people are more terrifying than Demonic Beasts; otherwise, your ancestors wouldn't have brought you here. When a Demonic Beast is about to attack, there are usually signs that allow you to defend yourself. But when a person is about to attack, it is impossible to guard against. By the time you feel the danger, you are already dead. Therefore, your ancestors were very wise people. They knew that visible danger is actually not that dangerous; it is the invisible danger that is the most perilous."
Xiao Hua was left confused by Long Chen's words, clearly not understanding his meaning, but hearing him praise her ancestors, she couldn't help but be overjoyed.
"I hope that the children we have in the future will be as smart and brave as you. Then I would become the person with the greatest contribution in our village!" Xiao Hua said excitedly.
Long Chen's face stiffened, but looking at Xiao Hua's innocent face, he couldn't help but smile bitterly in his heart. He guessed this girl didn't know that having children was a very complex act with a relatively high degree of difficulty.
Xiao Hua was like an innocent child. Although Long Chen liked her, he could not develop romantic feelings for her.
He had to consider and find a way to secretly leave the village. Although doing so would make Xiao Hua very sad, there was no other way.
However, before leaving, Long Chen had to finish everything. First, he had to pay off the prey owed to the former Forest God, and then tell Xiao Hua how to use those gold coins.
Those gold coins totaled over a million. He had to tell her to use them carefully so as not to attract jealousy.
As long as they knew how to use the gold coins, with the spatial ring, the food and supplies they could purchase at one time would be enough to feed the village for a year.
Little Snow's arrival made the people in the village nervous. After all, for the first time in hundreds of years, a Demonic Beast had moved into their village.
When Little Snow came out the next morning, full of energy, the crowd was nervous again. However, Little Snow followed obediently by Long Chen's side, not even glancing at the crowd, acting very well-behaved.
Only then did everyone relax. A few children, out of curiosity and disregarding the scolding of their parents, secretly approached Little Snow.
Little Snow ignored them at first, but when that group of brats got within ten feet of it, it suddenly glanced at them.
That single glance made the children's scalps tingle. Thinking Little Snow was about to launch an attack, they fled for their lives, screaming for help.
In their haste, one child tripped and fell, sitting on the ground and crying loudly, with a wet patch underneath his bottom.
The adults had been watching the whole time. They noticed that Long Chen was smiling the entire time and didn't make a move. Out of trust in Long Chen, they didn't say anything.
Seeing that Little Snow had only glared at them and scared the mischievous children into crying and wailing, they couldn't help but burst into laughter.
It was the first time a Demonic Beast had moved into the village; not only the children but even the adults were very curious.
"Long Chen, what kind of Demonic Beast is this?" The villagers looked at Little Snow, clearly not recognizing it.
"Crimson Flame Snow Wolf. It becomes a Tier 3 Demonic Beast when fully grown," Long Chen replied.
"Th… Tier 3?"
The crowd was shocked to the core upon hearing this, their mouths opening so wide they could almost swallow their own heads.
They had only heard of Tier 2 Demonic Beasts, and that was from the stories of their elders. Over a hundred years ago, their ancestors had crossed a mountain stream while hunting and encountered a Tier 2 Demonic Beast.
At that time, a group of over thirty hunters had gone out, but only a dozen escaped back; the rest had all died, causing the village to suffer heavy losses.
Ever since that time, they had never dared to cross that mountain stream, and they strictly forbade anyone in the village from ever crossing it.
Originally, when the Forest God promised a Tier 2 Demonic Beast this time, everyone immediately thought of that Tier 2 Demonic Beast that had caused the village such heavy losses.
At that time, everyone's expressions had been grim. However, Xiao Hua insisted on saving Long Chen, claiming that once Long Chen recovered from his injuries, they could definitely work together to slay the Tier 2 Demonic Beast.
It was clear that a Tier 2 Demonic Beast had become a nightmare in everyone's hearts, and this little wolf before them was actually a Tier 3 Demonic Beast, which was even more terrifying than a Tier 2 one. How could the crowd not be shocked?
After lunch, everyone gathered together. Long Chen said to the old man, "Village Chief, I would like to ask, where are there Tier 2 Demonic Beasts?"
The old man's expression changed slightly. "You want to…"
"Yes, I want to go hunt a Tier 2 Demonic Beast to pay off the favor to the Forest God sooner. The feeling of being in debt is not very comfortable," Long Chen nodded and said.
The whole village felt a shiver in their hearts upon hearing this, but Long Chen noticed that many people's eyes were shining, looking eager to try.
"Child, there is indeed one known Tier 2 Demonic Beast, but it is extremely difficult to deal with," the old man said with some hesitation.
"Village Chief, don't worry. I have fully recovered now, so an ordinary Tier 2 Demonic Beast should not be a problem," Long Chen smiled.
Long Chen was actually being modest; even without having achieved a Breakthrough to the Blood Condensation Realm, an ordinary Tier 2 Demonic Beast was no match for him.
Now that he had ascended to the Blood Condensation Realm, although he had just entered it and hadn't reached the first level of Blood Condensation yet, his blood had already begun to automatically purify. With every breath he took, his blood was strengthening, and his power was growing.
Long Chen really wanted to find a Tier 2 Demonic Beast to test his current strength, and at the same time, he wanted to try out his Wind-Parting techniques.
Seeing Long Chen speak so confidently, the old man gritted his teeth. "Fine! All the warriors of the village, assemble! Bring the finest equipment; we will go slaughter that beast and avenge our ancestors!"
"Good!"
All the hunters erupted into a cheer, rushing back to their houses to take out their respective weapons and bring everything they needed.
Long Chen watched the bustling crowd and suddenly understood something.
"Um, Village Chief, there is no need to trouble everyone with this small matter. You just need to tell me the location, and I will be enough on my own," Long Chen said softly.
"What?"
